This was a really cute pop-up! I should've wrote a review sooner, but my friend, me, and our photographer had a fun time here. We got some really dope beautiful shots and I'm guessing maybe the time we went help because we chose a Saturday Night after 8/9pm, so there was a fair amount of people but we were able to get great shots without worrying about other people. The people who work here were also really sweet and nice when we went, even when we stayed longer than we should have after they were closing up. I had a fun time here and wish I went earlier so I couldve had more time to enjoy it! read more

I haven't written 1 review in 2018, but this was so bad I HAVE to help you all out. First off - The staff, or lack thereof, won't acknowledge your existence. Second - we walked through in about 7 minutes. Tin foil all over the walls. Entire place just looked like a 5 year olds art project. I rarely write bad reviews, I'm easily entertained- but this?? Despite all these one star reviews, I thought this place was okay! It seemed like a great place for my family, my boyfriend, and I to take a lot of fun photos! Plus we only paid $26/person, which is much cheaper than the $38/person I am used to in quality pop up museums. I especially enjoyed the little hallway with the microphone, the silver room with the suspending lights, and the light up floor. I was actually about to give this place 4 stars, but then I remembered the service of the staff members. They were very monotonous - I don't think I saw a single smile. In the pink ball pit area, I noticed two women working the station who could have easily pulled it off as customers. They didn't look professional at all, and they barely helped clean up the balls coming out of the ball pit. I could easily read the frustration on their faces when they saw things not going their way such as the balls falling out of the pit or the neon sign temporarily not working. I also noticed the man who was supposed to be overseeing the silver room with lights - he was just sitting on the chair, almost as if he were sleeping! Okay yeah, I understand this $10/hr job might not be fun, but it's disheartening and off-putting seeing so many frowning employees in a place that is supposed to be promoted as fun. New York Magic Lab is what you make of it. I think in a normal circumstance where I am not with my family, I wouldn't have given 3 stars. But I really got to see my family have a lot of fun here, which is why I did give this place 3 stars. I guess I also got lucky in the sense we weren't surrounded by a lot of super noisy kids or people who were hogging each exhibit, which also helped with the positive experience. If you have $26 to spare per person for this, I would give it a shot! read more

What a rip off, thank God I did not have to pay for this! feel extremely bad for people who did! This is essentially a hit and run job attempting to make money off the Instagramable pop-up trend. Everything was so cheaply made, hanging wires everywhere, tin foil on the walls, stuffy and smelly! Parts of it looks like a construction site, areas taped off with yellow caution tape?!! One poor guy doing card tricks in the hot stuffy basement, and some cheap props thrown together... what an embarrassment of a place! read more

I cannot believe I wasted my money on this. It was so dead and I didn't feel good about the $30 I spent at all. We were asked for our tickets then told to just walk in. No direction. No introduction. Nothing. There was no music or sound. I felt awkward hanging out there. I feel like my 6 year old sister put these rooms together. This place is a literal joke and all we could do is laugh at how embarrassed we were for spending our money on such nonsense. Hopefully I was able to catch one Instagram picture but it was not worth the price tag. #sticksandglue read more

This is me hiding from the "art" in Magic Lab. I am not someone to put down any art or creative ambition but this wasn't of either. This literally is party decorations, lights, and music. The augmented reality section is a pre made photo booth with a really cheesy Snapchat filter, not anything VR related. Really disappointed I spent $26 on this. read more

My sister and I have been to our share of NYC pop ups and by now we know they're very hit or miss. This one is a huge miss! The good things about the place is the location, the light up floor, the slide, and the ball pit. The blonde at the front desk was a sweetheart. The place itself is small and the "rooms" are even smaller. There's just about enough room to take pictures without bumping into someone or accidentally getting in their pictures. Most of the stuff looks like a Dollar Tree pop up shop. The woman in charge of the ball pit was mostly on her phone and would become frustrated when she had to pick up the balls that'd fall out of the pit. There were 8 little 3 & 4 year old kids who kept jumping, getting in the way of our pictures, and one almost crashed into my sister because the kid decided to jump. I love kids and I work with kids their ages, but it was annoying as a customer that my sister and I couldn't get a chance to enjoy the ball pit. Most places have timers for each group. This one was a come and stay as king as you like kind of thing. Of course the woman decided to give me the attitude and tell me that I was "making a mess" when the balls came out of the pit. Of course it's easier to take your frustration out on the two 24 & 26 year olds who are simply taking pictures. Don't say anything to the parents or the kids who are jumping & running around the entire room making it impossible for anyone else to enjoy. I understand customers can be inconsiderate, but as a worker your job is to make sure everyone's following the rules and everyone gets a chance. Don't waste your time or money! read more

Less 1 star. The absolute worst experience ever. What did I just pay for?! Something my 3 yr old niece could have thrown together. Are you sure this wasn't a misguided Halloween staging attempt. Because it was definitely horrid. A ball room with absolutely no rhyme, reason, quirkiness nothing. A hallway with an old microphone, Christmas lights strung down the wall and a mirror. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!! This was literally the worst money I ever spent in my life!!! This place charges 20 or so dollars for general admission but then charges an up charge of 36 per person after 8pm because you will experience a "magic show" DONT BE FOOLED while you are treated to a "magic show" it is no more impressive then what you would've experienced at the magic section at Toys R Us Times Square. After the worlds lamest magic show; you are shown into a room with a ball pit; this is a nice place for Instagram pictures but asides from playing card decor on the wall, there is nothing "magical" about this. After This you walk towards a hallway with a single long hallway with microphone and that's it....literally that's it..... Moving on.....you go downstairs where you are forced to share Kanye Westesque glowing glasses and Michael Jackson light up gloves that look like you can get them at the dollar store; there you experience a floor of flashing lights surrounded by a wall of aluminum foil where a worker offers to take pictures of you with your own phone. God forbid they had a professional photographer. after that there is a slide with a sign that's says the word magic above it and poof that's what you you just spend 80 dollars on. 3 of the tackiest rooms you've ever seem just to upload pictures on your Instagram. There is nothing magical about this place. It is simply a scam that bills itself as a "magic show" to trick people out of there hard earned money. Do not go here!!! I'm visiting NY and this is my forth pop up. It was the worst. First of all, the girls in the front lied and said they were closing early.
