SWJ Siding and Roofing Corp - 1 of 2 Before

    SWJ Siding and Roofing Corp

A long time "framily" (friend of 30 years that's considered extended family to us) recommended SWJ…read more Initially, we aimed to make a sizable expansion of current back yard pavers. However after a roof inspection, SWJ was hired to repair/replace the roof. Interaction - This company is family owned and operated by three brothers. Notably, the son of an owner is a working foreman on site. We made contact directly with owner Wilson by telephone. Wilson was readily available for consultation with short notice of two hours (same day). The second owner Matt serves as the administrator of contracts and finances. The third owner Jorge is on site with materials and overall leadership of the roofing. Throughout the project, Wilson continued to promptly answer clearly, courteously, and professional every time. Jorge Jr (owner's son) visibly took leadership in the absence of Jorge. The owner Jorge actively oversaw, inspected the demo through to construction. The total time for completion was two days. Day one we observed the following: arrival 20 minutes prior to scheduled start time, cover surrounding house areas for falling debris, safety checks for ladders, demo of current roof, repair a few ply areas with damage from squirrels, reconstruction of leader boards, application of layers of roofing as described at the consultation, removal of all debris. Owner Wilson did a walk through with me with planning discussion of the gutter install where I was able to customize my down spouts and design. Upon completion, the team asked me to do a walk through and confirmed my satisfaction before their departure. Despite the magnetic toll use we observed, only a few nails were found but not a major concern considering the work completed. I recommend you always walk your yard for more nails no matter what. Day two the gutter team arrived 15 minutes early. They were knowledgeable and friendly. They provided additional expertise on the design finishes which helped reduce icing in the winter and more protection of the house foundation. Cost - SWJ is very competitive on pricing. The quality & response time of the team is phenomenal. This quality of workmanship is high. We invested our money willingly and with no salesmanship pressure. Overall - This far surpassed our expectation. We experienced a quality build completed safely, quickly and efficiently. I've included photos of our project.

Called Wilson repeatedly over the last couple months until recently always the same song, "my guy didn't fix that, I'll call him and get him over there". Last few weeks Wilson has been ducking my call, not returning calls when I leave a message, and not responding to requests on website. Non responsive is an understatement. Next stop small claims court.

Being a homeowner, especially on Long Island, can be a curse…read more The houses built in the Levitt & Sons era were constructed quickly and likely weren't expected to last as long as, say, the Wyckoff House in Brooklyn (built in 1641 -- go see it!). The builders of my house probably figured that by the 21st century, we'd be living in outer space like the Jetsons, not knowing that by then we'd still be in these tiny unpredictable homes, which now feel as modern the Flintstone abode, minus the animal-appliances that grunt, "It's a living." They say if anything can go wrong, it will, and with a house old enough to collect Social Security -- and I wish it could, instead of me paying off a 900-year mortgage -- everything does. It's bad enough when a toilet no longer flushes or the front door is askew and ajar. Worse are those "out of sight, not out of mind" problems like a water heater that suddenly dies, or a water from a leak appearing in a place you normally don't look. Such is the case with a roof. Unless it rains in your living room, you likely take it for granted. Earlier this year we had a contractor replace the windows that had been installed during the Kennedy Administration and they checked out our roof and returned with some grim news, the roofing equivalent of testing positive for AIDS and cancer and type-seven diabetes. The price they suggested was somewhere north of astronomical, so we decided to get estimates from other contractors. This is always a tedious process because you have to make appointments and be at the house during a time window and sit in the living room while they walk all over the roof and return with information that you can't really verify. Also, I'm terribly antisocial and hate talking to people, but that's a discussion for another Yelp post. Fortunately, and despite a wide range of diagnoses, none of the roofers I met with came off as fly-by-night ripoff artists. But we went with Charlie from USA Remodeling: he was thorough with his analysis of my roof situation and identified a problem area around my chimney that he could remedy without having to tackle the entire roof. It wasn't a major job, but I was grateful that his crew was able to complete the work in one day. He not only fixed the problem area, but he added better ventilation, including two new vents, so the roofing can breathe better and last longer. And now *I* can breathe better, and will likely hire Charlie to do my siding. As long as my cesspool holds up until then. FIVE STARS

I got my bathtub converted into a beautiful walk-in shower, and the entire work was done exceptionally well. The workmanship, attention to detail, and overall finish were excellent. The process was smooth, professional, and completed with great care. Really appreciated the effort put into every small detail. Jeff is good guy and I highly recommend Rennovate Right for anyone looking for quality renovation work!

We needed to renovate our bathroom due to multiple leaks and other various issues that the previous…read moreowner never took care of. Jeff quoted us $8,800+ for the job not including the price of tiles. He offered to throw in the tiles at no additional cost if we were willing to make a decision on the spot. There were minor communication issues with Jeff throughout getting job done, but all is well that ends well. The guys working (Nacho/Oscar/Danny/etc) were all very professional and respectful which goes a long way. It took about 7 days start to finish to get the job done. We are satisfied with the work and Jeff said the labor is warranted for as long as we live in the home. We were also taken back when we found out that they were actually going to consider the job finished without painting the bathroom. I was told they don't usually include painting the bathroom and would've left the new drywall completely exposed and we would have to pay someone else to paint. I found that to be absolutely ludicrous and when I expressed that to Jeff, he "did us the favor" of having them paint the bathroom and I had to buy the paint. We also had to buy the shower door and luckily it was delivered on the last day of the project but Jeff did say they would come back to do the installation if the door was delivered at a later date. We also decided to use this company to install a new fence for $12,500. It took about 4 days to complete but they took apart our old fence several days prior to being able to start the project without communicating first which was very frustrating. The two guys who worked on the fence were fantastic, they worked really hard and took no shortcuts that I could see to ensure the new fence would be really sturdy against the crazy winds we get in my area. We had to get someone else to cut down some trees and make room for them to install the new fence. They were going to move the fence further into our property line without communicating such also blew my mind. Jeff was kind enough to have his guys haul away some old glass doors we had from a previous project when they were taking the trash away from this project. All in all we are satisfied with the work done for the bathroom and the new fence installation. I would recommend this company to others, but must keep a close eye on what's getting done to ensure there isn't any miscommunication or misunderstandings.

Since part of my roof was exposed, he checked the weather and kindly rearranged some non-urgent clients to fit me in the next day--something I really appreciated. Rebecca provided the schedule, and the crew arrived promptly at 7 AM. By 7:30, the dumpster was delivered, and by 8 AM, the roofing materials had arrived. They worked efficiently--removing the old shingles, installing the new roof, and completing cleanup by 1:30 PM. Rebecca assured me they would go over the driveway with a magnet to catch stray nails, and it seemed to do the trick. That night, it rained, and I had zero worries. Excellent job all around!
