It's hard. I know, because I just couldn't stop myself either from purchasing items prior to coming to Pak N Save on my last day in Christchurch. I just wasn't sure if Pak N Save will have it. Well, they do, and then some! This Pak N Save was easy to find along Moorhouse Avenue with plenty of parking, but it's unsurprisingly quite busy. Inside was huge! It was like a combo of a US Walmart and Costco, but way more items and more spacious. The aisles were clean and quite organized. It had your typical supermarket items. Each section was very clean and organized, and very spacious. I could see myself shopping here weekly for fresh meat and produce, and grab instant coffee. We love the Moccona instant coffee #8 dark roast. It's pricey purchasing in the United States, and only in jar form. Luckily, Pak N Save had it, and in pouch form to easily take it home with us. Overall, a fun shopping experience. There were many registers open, so the wait was not long. The cashier was friendly and quick. No baggers. You do it yourself!

The only market that is centrally located in Christchurch. It's right across the street from the…read morebus interchange on Lichfield Street. Great for commuters, workers, and visitors. It's also surprisingly large. One entire aisle is devoted to alcohol. There's a small deli with sandwiches, cold foods, and hot foods. Not a ton of fresh meats, but that's been true of every market I've been to in New Zealand. Largest selection of produce I've seen so far, but more veggies than fruit. Got some nice-looking strawberries. Mostly self-checkout / pay by card, but help is available if something goes amiss or you want to pay cash. Prices were cheaper than the other two markets I've been to.

Whether you are looking for a specialty bottle of whiskey as a gift, a spot to fill your growler with craft beer or a 12-pack for a party, Liquor King has it all. Their selections of international wines are extensive and support almost every local NZ winery as well. They have plenty of options of various liquors, beers and malts so you can find something for even the pickiest drinker. They have a few taps that are regularly changing, so if you're looking for something specific on tap, I'd recommend calling ahead. Check out the freezer for larger cases of beers or pre-chilled malt beverages. Need a cigar? They have a small selection, just ask at the front counter. The price is what'll get you at this place... liquor isn't cheap and Liquor King doesn't have much of a discount. Be prepared to pay.
