Took my boys to this barbershop for the first time today and it was such a great experience. The service was great, the ambiance was super chill, and the shop was clean--plus everyone there was really friendly. Eddie was incredibly patient and kind with my boys, which made a huge difference since first visits can be a little intimidating. He took his time, made them feel comfortable, and really connected with them. They both walked out smiling and feeling confident with their cuts. Definitely glad we found this place--we'll be back!! Just left our first appointment here with owner Eddie. I found this barber shop on Yelp after wanting a better cut for our son than the standard "great clips" cut he had been getting. After reading reviews here with how they were specialized in children with special needs, I was impressed. Although our son is not special needs, and actually tends to sit really well for a toddler, I thought to myself they must be good with children here if that was the case. Any barber shop who goes the extra mile to get "Autism certified" and have a special place for families who need this service, must be a good person in my book. I called on a Monday to schedule an appointment (which I was surprised they were open on a Monday). Owner, Eddie, fit us in on my day off on the following Wednesday morning. (Ended up finding out that he also fit us in on his typical day off before he left for vacation the next day, which also was another super kind thing to do!) He was extremely friendly and professional. Gave my 3.5 yr old son a fantastic haircut, and was so so kind and patient with him! Eddie had a tv for something to keep him occupied and a special seat for kids, that showed he was well prepared for handling this age group. He started by giving my son a high five, which was cute and broke the ice for my son who started off shy. I like that Eddie asked me first before he offered my son a lollipop at the end. I came in here at 9am and there were two other barbers in there with clients. They both smiled at my son, and I didn't feel any awkwardness whatsoever as some other reviews mentioned, especially as a female coming in, no less one with a child in a barber shop (which I could imagine may kill the vibe in a "guys space"). We felt welcome. Eddie told me that usually Sundays are the day that he dedicates the shop for kids cuts, or early mornings. Which I could completely understand and appreciate wanting to keep the vibe appropriate for both kids and grown men at different times. I love how "cool" my son feels with his big boy haircut now lol. We will definitely be back. It was slightly more pricey than Great Clips, but well worth it to me. I would 10/10 recommend! read more

I made the mistake of coming into this place a second time. The first time the ignored us and took other customers. The barbers discussed amongst themselves about overcharging us because they didn't want to serve us. The second time I called ahead, they said we can just be a walk in, and that no appointment was required. They did the same thing, just had us sitting there for an hour speaking Spanish and talking smack about us on and off about how we weren't welcome. read more

I am absolutely mortified. I took my son to New Style for a haircut. I told the barber to please clean him up all the way around. He ended up cutting all of my son's hair off bald the day before school pictures. He was Not very gentle with him very rough. I contacted the owner in reference to my grievance I was told he would get back to me. Once he got back to me, he informed me that "this is his number you can contact him and express how you feel" I WAS CHARGED $35 FOR A 3YR OLD WHAT IS CALLED A STRAIGHT UP BUZZZZZX NO EDGE UP CLEAN UP NO DESIGNS!!!!! 35 is astronomical for a inexperienced haircut! read more

Let me start off by saying that as a woman, I typically dislike barber shops with a passion! I've never liked going in to a crowded shop with loud men, cursing and hoping to be acknowledged. That's why I'm so glad we found James and this shop. This shop is so dope too! Amazing art, very spacious, comfortable seats and always super clean. I also love that they also make it known that they are welcoming to individuals with autism. I have an older brother with autism and other intellectual disabilities and I wish this shop was around when he was younger. I absolutely love this so much! Much respect! Now James, he's wonderful at what he does and is always so kind. My son is very quiet and he feels comfortable with James and I'm so thankful. He refuses to go to anyone else so I drive up from Hartford. No issues. My son loves getting his haircut here and wherever James is at... we'll be there too. read more

Look no further for a great cut or style. The place is big inside with some really nice barbers waiting to give you a fresh cut . Bringing my 8yr old for the 2nd time now knowing he feels comfortable with his fav barber John who is great with kids. The barbershop caters to young & autistic children so you can be assured they are in good hands here . There is a waiting area and a TV ahead of that . The prices are fair and they have two places to eat next door if the wait is long . I truly recommend giving this new shop a try I know you will like it as much as our family does. read more

I called up New Style Barbershop in the morning and had an appt. that afternoon with Eddie. New Style was extremely clean and cool with an inviting interior. I was a potential customer and client for this barber salon, I went to the shop 2 days back to back to get a simple fade. Yesterday Im present for 2 hours in the shop without anyone taking me and giving cuts to others with appointment, understandable. However I have a problem with being mislead and lied to because I show up again TODAY in an empty shop and people refuse to yet take and cut me. This is VERY bad business as I have important events to attend to and they are the only shop available I had thought. I'm not satisfied AT ALL. read more

From the moment we walked in Eddie was welcoming and friendly with my nonverbal 4 year old son with ASD. My son is tough when it comes to getting his haircut.. Eddie set him up with cartoons and knew all the proper hand movements to keep my son safe and get the job done promptly. He was patient and said kind words throughout the whole process (which was cut from over an hour at our old barber to 20 minutes here)! I wasn't wrestling my son or getting weird looks from other staff and customers. I couldn't believe how proficient the whole experience was and when we were done, we were really done because of how talented Eddie is we didn't have to keep going over his hair, little man walked out with an edge up and all. I highly recommend this talented barbershop for anyone, disability or not! I made my next appointment before I left the shop!
