It had a nice modern feel and clean bathrooms. We had a group of four, and 3/4 said it was the best (Monte Cristo, Brunch Burger, and Club Sandwich) they ever had. We drove an hour (55 miles) to try it, and wont hesitate to come back!

One of the first major stops is all the antique malls in Walnut, IA. The wife mentioned that she would like me to find a bakery that served food. I thought I was the hero finding Milk & Honey - a farm to table bakery. The restaurant is in an old Ford dealership building next to a jui jujitsu place. You have to order 1st up front and then wait for them to deliver your food. The good: An excellent place to people watch. Both the employees and clientele. Interesting enough quite a diverse clientele. I ordered the sausage breakfast sandwich with a side of home fries with cheese, peppers and onions recommended by the lady who took our order. A great recommendation. When our food arrived it was hot and good. The bad: My wife wanted to sit outside. I wished I took her suggestion. It was hotter inside than outside. We waited 45 minutes for OU order. You don't want to be around my wife when she is hot and hungry.

The frappe was to die for! The Monte Cristo panini was on sourdough bread and strawberry jam, with honey ham, and provolone cheese, topped with powdered sugar. And the blueberry scone while I was hesitant to try because of the purple frosting on top, I would say it rivals the scones in Williamsburg Tanger Outlet BP bakery, which is really hard to do. Pro: fast friendly service. Great food. And interestingly delicious drink recipes Cons: Is only open till 4:30pm during the week and 2pm on the weekends

BUT he loved the doughnuts at Coffee 7 and he's a tough crowd to impress. So I'd say they're doing something right if he was happy. Cute little shop with cute decorations. Kind of small but it's quaint and isn't too busy. The espresso is a little weak for my taste, but the drip coffee was nice and strong. The syrups tasted a little cheap and like medicine. They also only have one size for every drink, so the lattes end up tasting just like syrup because they don't put much espresso in for the size of cup. Overall, I was impressed and I think they're worth giving a try! They'll just continue getting better.

We have been here a few times now and always enjoyed our meal here at the Minden Bowl Café. Whether we eat on the bar side or the diner side, it is always pleasant to stop in here. We have not tried out the bowling alley in the back yet but plan on doing so soon. The establishment is always clean and has a nice family like flair to it. We never feel like we haven't lived here and known the staff for years and years. They really care about providing great service and cooking a delicious meal. So if you're tired of the same ole same ole chain places in the big city, make a stop over to the Minden Bowl and try a filling and well prepared meal for you and your gang.

Breakfast available, so one in our party went with that, and that was the right choice for the day we were there. My wife and I each got a salad - I got the California Chicken, and she got the Chicken Harvest Apple Salad. The menu says they are each spring mix lettuce, but there wasn't much spring in either of ours - pretty much iceberg with a touch of darker greens. The chicken was thin and tasted fine, but didn't have a lot of seasoning. The bread was good, and if the lettuce had been closer to what we thought we were getting it would have made a significant difference. We just chose poorly. The breakfast platter looked amazing, and we saw a couple of wraps and sandwiches pass by that looked really good. Service was very pleasant and efficient, and our food came out in good time. They cleared our table as well and even though it pretty much counter service, there was more service provided than you might expect. We will try again and just stick to the sandwiches or breakfast. The lettuce mix may have been a substitute or may be what locals prefer; just wasn't what we thought we would be getting.

After purchasing a cup of…read morecoffee from another establishment (who did not have ideal seating), I visited Queen Beans and asked if I could bring my outside coffee in if I purchased breakfast there. The staff member assured me it was no problem at all, so I bought breakfast and worked for the day. The next day, I followed the same routine (since I actually really enjoyed the other places coffee and I was already told it was no problem if I bring in outside drinks). However this time, a different staff member informed me that outside beverages were not allowed, but said I could stay if I poured my coffee into one of their cups. I completely understood and complied without any issue. 30 minutes later, the owner approached my table in an aggressive manner and began berating me for not following their rules. Despite explaining that I had received information from two employees allowing me to stay, the manager continued to reprimand me, stating it was common sense not to bring outside drinks. While I always respect the rules of any establishment, the owners disrespectful tone and demeaning language were shockingly disgraceful. I would not recommend dining here if you expect courteous and professional ownership or management.
