I was dealing with blood blisters, a poor latch, doubts and fears about supply, and a baby that was temporarily not gaining enough weight. As a first-time mom, it was extremely stressful, and there were many tears. However, Juliana's visits always left me feeling more informed, reassured, and capable. We also did a weighted feed during every visit, which confirmed that my baby was indeed getting enough to eat. I still remember the relief I felt when I learned that. Juliana is a big reason why I decided to stay the course with breastfeeding. (Thank goodness, because now I LOVE it.) My insurance covered the cost of the visits, so I just paid the $60 travel fee. I also attended her breastfeeding class with my husband before giving birth. This was super helpful, but I recommend taking the class within 1 month of your due date. We took it a bit too early in my pregnancy, and forgot a couple things by the time I gave birth. Overall, I would highly recommend booking a lactation consultation with Juliana if you're in need of support!

They were very accommodating after I explained my experience. I appreciate when an owner cares and especially from parent to parent, can relate and adjust. We will try it out again in the future! PREVIOUS REVIEW: After being inundated with emails about how flexible they are about camps, I booked a few days thinking that in the worst case (since you can book the night before) that I could just cancel if my kids didn't love it. Overall, my kids did OK, but I could tell it wasn't something they could do for more than 1 day. I opted to not proceed with the camp, but was told there was nothing they could do for me to give me a refund. I can understand if you need to manage staffing, but if you're allowing people to book the night before, clearly its not a staffing issue, you're just unwilling to give parents their money back. I wouldn't recommend booking more than 1 day at a time.

So far we have loved the experience and I could not be happier at the school (and I have high…read morestandards and expectations). Each grade offers children to work at their own pace, and children can learn curriculum in reading/math up to two grades above each grade they're in without a competitive feel between the children. NO IPADS which is amazing since all public schools use that now as a learning tool and I'd rather my daughter not learn via tapping her finger on a screen. There is an intentional effort to have healthier food options at events, ordered school lunches, birthdays in class, aftercare snacks, but there is also no judgement amongst parents or between admin and parents. They offer extracurricular classes for kids in TK and beyond. My daughter does keyboard and dance once a week after school, and it's really nice, she just stays an extra half hour and I pick her up when it's done, and she LOVES them. The aftercare program has been amazing compared to the other Montessori we went to prior to ECDS. We absolutely love our teachers this year, along with the extracurricular teachers we've met. Ms. Hayes is the new principal but has worked at the school for over 10-15 years, and she is just wonderful, caring, dedicated, and knowledgeable. It's a really good feeling as a parent to have the principal and teachers open and welcoming of communication, and allowing us to be involved with our child's experience at school. Feel free to DM me on Yelp if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them!

I attribute my success in breast-feeding entirely to Janae. Additionally, I hired her for a postpartum visit, where she helped alleviate engorgement in my breast. I would have paid triple for her advice and her guidance for-feeding. She completely changed the game for me and my son. I am no longer inflamed, the engorgement in my breast is manageable with her massage techniques, and my positioning, while breast-feeding allows for my baby to maximize eating. She is worth her weight and gold and is a complete godsend. I would highly recommend her for anyone who is pregnant or recently postpartum because she will completely change your life for the better.

After a month, we saw no change. Switching to exclusive formula feeding seemed like the only sustainable option, but I was heartbroken at the thought of giving up breastfeeding. A lactation consultant from my breastfeeding support group strongly recommended Janae as a last try. She was able to come over the very next day and helped us create a new plan to increase my supply and gradually reduce bottle feeding. Throughout the process, Janae was always available over text. She offered practical guidance on how to move toward our goals and emotional support that helped me trust the process. Before meeting Janae, I truly felt like there was no hope for my breastfeeding journey. After a month of hard work and her constant support, I'm thrilled to share that my baby had his first full day of exclusive breastfeeding yesterday!

Sandy Hill was a refuge for us when we were worried about sending our son to school during the worst of COVID but it became so much more. His dad and I are both early educators so we are extremely particular about preschool programs. It was important for us to find a play-based preschool because we believe that play is the universal language of childhood learning. At the time, classes were held outside and that made us feel very comfortable. Even as things opened up, we continued to feel like we were in a community of families that truly cared about one another and we were all doing our best to keep each other safe. The spaces at this hidden gem are nothing short of magical. I wish I could go back to preschool myself and spend my days digging in the sand and hunting for sparkle treasure. This was such a special place for our family and undoubtedly will be again when we send our younger son in a couple of years. Our pre-k kiddo went to the MWF on-campus program and then spent Tuesdays and Thursdays at outdoor class. Outdoor class with Miss Kacy is such a unique and wonderful gift to children who love exploring their world and being out in nature. Our son is in kindergarten this year but he talks about how he misses Sandy Hill pretty much every day, which is what inspired me to finally write this long-overdue review. We love you, Sandy Hill! Thank you for everything!!!
