During our first couple of weeks postpartum, our baby struggled to gain weight because she wasn't transferring enough milk and I was dealing with an undersupply. After a difficult experience with another lactation consultant left me in tears and ready to give up breastfeeding, we reached out to Juliana at Babies in Bloom. We had appreciated her approach in our classes, and our experience with her was truly night and day compared to what we experienced with our initial consultant. Juliana thoroughly assessed our baby's latch, my nipples, feeding positions, and pump parts and settings. She listened to our concerns and created an effective, manageable plan to help us move away from what felt like an indefinite triple-feeding nightmare to our goal of exclusively breastfeeding. She also checked in between appointments, adjusted our plan as needed, answered our questions, and most of all encouraged us. With Juliana's guidance, our baby went from the 11th to the 50th percentile for weight, and my milk supply caught up to fully meet her needs by four weeks. By eight weeks, I was able to gradually drop pumping sessions without clogged ducts or mastitis, and by 10 weeks, we reached our goal of exclusively breastfeeding. I'm incredibly grateful we found Juliana and that I didn't give up. Her knowledge, support, and encouragement helped us achieve a goal that had once felt out of reach. But I signed up to support my wife, and I'm really glad I did. This class completely changed how I see birth and my role in it. Instead of feeling like a bystander, I walked away feeling informed, useful, and actually confident in how I can support my wife during labor. The techniques we learned--breathing, relaxation, visualization--aren't just for moms. I found myself using them too, and they've already helped us both stay calmer leading up to the big day. What stood out most was how much emphasis was placed on teamwork. I learned specific, practical ways to advocate for my wife, help her stay relaxed, and create a positive environment no matter how the birth unfolds. It made me feel like an active participant instead of just "the guy in the room." The instructor, Care, was very knowledgeable, approachable, and never made any question feel silly. She made the classes very comfortable and even pretty funny at times. The class also struck a great balance between education and hands-on practice, so it didn't feel like we were just sitting through lectures. I decided to sign my 12 year old daughter up because she had been begging to snowboard. The problem for me is that living in Orange County it is too time consuming to go up and down the mountain, plus I do not snowboard so I would need to pay for her to have lessons when I was there. This program solved both problems for me. She has a group to ride up the mountain with, plus excellent instructors as well as a great group of kids that are at her same level that she has become friends with because they keep the kids together for the season. She has already improved so much even after just a couple trips. She already wants to go again next year so I will have to plan to make this a yearly thing until she "outgrows" it at 16. It seems that many of the kids that have been in the program do come back as chaperones too so she might be a part of this for years to come. It was a bit unnerving to send my child up the mountain on a bus with a group of people that I did not know, but I feel 100% safe sending her with them now. It feels like she is just going on a school field trip, of course, this is better than most school field trips though. :)

He's very patient, friendly & knowledgeable.  After providing my daughter with a wet suit & surfboard, Jacob started the lesson on the beach by going over proper mechanics & safety.  After 10 mins on the beach, into the water they went. My daughter is a beginner surfer, with no prior surf experience.  Jacob developed an instant rapport with her that made her feel confident in the water.  Watching the entire lesson, I could see Jacob has a ton of teaching experience. BEWARE - what they didn't tell you is that their trial classes cost the same as a class and they auto-register your child for recurrent classes (despite emailing them that we were not enrolling). My children are all in MULTIPLE activities across San Diego, and never once do people offer a trial class only to CHARGE you if you decline automatic enrollment. Very sneaky policy - will never recommend to anyone as "finding the right fit" for your child is definitely not their top priority.
