As a small town the collection is not large but many of the books are ones I've read and liked. It's always a plus when the librarian has the same tastes as you. The historic building is beautiful and well maintained. There are discrete areas for adults, young adults, children, periodicals, genealogy, etc. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. They are not part of a regional library association as these are rare in New Hampshire, but you can also read e-books through a state system. The librarian was helpful and answered all my questions. Masks are optional and in checking their website periodically have been since the state mandate was lifted, which is vital to me since due to my medical issues I cannot wear them readily. Definitely I would like to retire here. My next mission is to see how well the roads are plowed in the winter so I know if I can move here and commute to work year-round.

There is the obvious providing of information to the public that is a necessity in civilized society. They also stand up against the book-burning crowds in our society, you know, the type of people who want a repeat of 1939. The library isn't just a pillar of the community, they are the foundation of it. They offer many groups, and if you want something to do, just look at their calendar on the library's website. You'll find plenty of groups on there and who knows, one might be of interest to you. It's a great resource all around, and also a beautiful building. It offers somewhere quiet to go, but it's not too quiet either. If you want to go hang out with friends and chat? Go to the lycuem and sit in the comfortable chairs there. You are allowed to talk in certain rooms, there are a couple quiet rooms too if you need somewhere to study, like the history room. The staff are all very polite and so if you want a quiet place, ask one of them and they will lead you to one. Definitely worth checking out and visiting.

There never bothered to post they were closing for annual town meeting, nor did they update their hours with Google. It always feels good to be greeted by name and with a smile. My older boys like "The Bob" -- the Robert Cormier teen room -- a lot and attend the monthly trading card Duel Night. My youngest son loves Sarah's reading/singing hour. Bathrooms are always clean. Great book selections and quite a good amount of toys in the children's room. They need a lot more DVDs, though, IMO, and could get rid of all the video tapes.

If you live in southern NH, your library card will give you free access to most of the libraries in the area: Manchester, Bedford, Hooksett, Derry, Merrimack, Salem and a couple others. Very cool! Bedford has a great selection of books, including a decent amount of new titles. They have a huge collection of DVDs, including many TV series (since I dumped cable years ago I find this to be a great thing). The best part is they also have around 150+ blu-ray discs-as far as I know this is the only area library that carries them. There is a nice reading area in the back, lots of computers, an excellent kids section (the whole bottom floor, in fact), and it seems they have many public events during the week (movies, concerts, and such). My only disappointment is their graphic novel section is a little light, but seems to be growing. If you are into that kind of thing, Manchester has the best selection.

The librarians were immensely helpful. Best $2 I've ever spent(replacement card fee) When I needed help accessing Mango I called and they were able to figure it and get me situated. Can't wait for the library to be back in its own building!

The Nashua Public Library is located downtown and I did not happen to spot any free parking. $2 for two hours is reasonable at a nearby city-operated parking lot. The library is quite large with a very large collection of fiction and non-fiction. Plenty of librarians around to help. Many comfortable seats all around for readers. They also have plenty of available computers for guests to use but they do not seem to have a lot of space for people to bring their own laptop and plug in. I found one small workspace.
