I was admitted to Operation ABLE's Work/Study program a few years ago in my late Sixties. I also learned while there they had a 'Medical Terminology Course', which would feed my previous Army Medical background and learn more up to date terms for work at a Hospital or similar area. The many weeks I was there; with the absolutely patient, understanding, and very loving and talented 'Friends' made there; I have made my life ; because of Operation ABLE's Staff much more enjoyable; and made money I never dreamed of. Let us all support this program as long as God keeps us here. They will always be part of my Heart's 'Family' and I wish them well........ A Check is on the way. Well Deserved. Members use their supposed expertise to inject themselves into affairs in the City of Fitchburg, since they work out of its City Hall. For instance, one serves on the Board of Health. She was ignorant of covid basics (how tests work, the difference between being hospitalized incidentally with covid or due to covid), yet imposed restrictions on residents. Despite the low risk of children getting covid she voted to keep a school mask mandate in place, believing there would be a big spike in cases after February vacation. Fortunately she was outvoted, and no increase in cases occurred. Many times at Board of Health meetings she would whine about how much contact tracing she had to do, even when it was not required and Leominster was not having its cases traced. Finally other people were hired to take over this function. Another nurse who works here came to a School Committee and BOH meeting and disparaged data from mainstream sources such as the CDC and Massachusetts Department of Health, saying only her personal experience matters. Now, despite covid no longer being a pandemic according to Dr. Fauci, they are keeping a whole army of contact tracers on staff, including a highly paid epidemiologist and a supervisor. They examine wastewater to try to sniff out an increase in cases to justify this expense, but it's been months and they have yet to release a promised public dashboard of their data. I am betting we are stuck with this bloated staffing forever even though the contact tracers are supposed to be temps. This is a "solution" in search of a problem.
