While the front desk receptionists are a little young the doctor is really experienced and puts together a comprehensive wellness package to show appropriate stretches and talk about different activities that may be exacerbating the problem. I knew after traveling for 14 hours with kids and carry-on bags that I was in trouble with my neck but after three visits I was able to get back to my regular running routine and I'm so grateful! I have multiple co-morbid chronic illnesses that leave me battling chronic fatigue, pain, migraines, depression, anxiety, etc. I have seen a consistent reduction in my generalize pain, an improvement in my mood, and she's taught me skills to help me cope with my anxiety attacks. She has even helped me with my allergies. Most dramatically, though: I've been using a cane pretty consistently for years because of pain and poor balance. In our last two sessions, Carmela has treated me using the Zhu scalp acupuncture technique and, as a result of this treatment, my balance has improved significantly and my reliance on my cane has been radically reduced, to the point that I mainly use it only for stairs or for occasions when I will be on my feet for an extended period of time (like the five hours I spent walking though a recent convention, for instance). I would highly recommend Carmela to my fellow Spoonies. She is thoughtful, caring, and very gifted at what she does.

I randomly and frequently had my throat swell closed and my lips swell. I have to carry an EpiPen with my and Benadryl. I had been to two immunologist/allergists who could not help me. I had Alfa Gal from a tick bite and a secondary problem that my husband and I had found was seemed to be from sulfites found in many foods with preservatives. My son called me and suggested I try and alternative to get help with the Alfa Gal. He had spoken to his minister who also had had Alfa Gal and discovered there was a form of acupuncture that could help. He found Carmela Mager, who had 25 years of experience and had learned this particular form of therapy. We made the appointment which changed both our lives! Carmela informed us as to how she would treat the Alfa Gal ( which made me intolerant of beef, lamb and pork) and then gave me a list of things to avoid that may help. She prescribed enzymes and a probiotic which helped enormously. She told me to do some reading on sulfite allergy. I did! I found studies on it which matched my life! Within a week, I started seeing the rash slowly heal. The acupuncture not only got rid of the Alfa Gal but also my hips no longer hurt. I can now eat pork, beef and lamb again. I started to have more energy. I can garden as I love to do. I felt and feel GOOD! My husband has been doing most of the cooking lately. He says we are on this journey together. Carmela has made life better for us both. She has a wealth of knowledge and generously share it! Our great thanks to her! PWB

I came to Ben with gestational diabetes and Sciatica. I've been testing my blood glucose levels every day now. My husband who was diagnosed Pre-diabetes later joined me for treatment with Dr Ben. Since then, I have taken my Hb-A1c test. Blood has a glucose memory of about 2 to 3 months. And the test shows the aggregate score of glucose. The results were fantastic, showing that I had a normal (on the lower side) reading of 4.9. My husband has also been on the same diet prescribed by Dr Ben. He started out with readings of over 360 for certain meals and now, his fasting readings have come as low as 140 to 150 in a short span of a few weeks. The key was that what looked like diabetes was really inflamation. This is only a part of what really goes on during each consultation. There is a deep dive into your health history, some part is related to geneology and for me, Dr Ben looked into X-rays of my spine to understand the Sciatica better. I've lived in Asia for a large part of my life and have not had someone who was able to blend eastern and western medicine as well as Dr Ben. I highly recommend him if you have any ailment. He is extremely honest and will let you know if there is a better way of treating your ailment.

Stacy, the acupuncturist, is amazing. She listens to what's been going on in my life and tailors my weekly treatment so each session is different. I like that it's not a one-size-fits-all approach, but that is the nature of acupuncture. It's nice to have an hour of quiet time that is just for me. Stacy is caring and nurturing and that is evident in each treatment. The studio is a quiet room on the second floor of a house converted into businesses. The floor shares space with a salon, but their noise isn't heard in the studio. The room has plants, soothing music, covered windows, candles, two heated tables and one recliner. Stacy has a small library and lends books she feels will aid in your treatment. Thursday is community day. You pay on a sliding scale and you may share the room with 2 others. If you book a private appointment, you have the room to yourself. I am not a fan of needles. If I ever need a shot, I have to lay down and look away. This is totally different. You really don't feel the pins and if you do, they "quiet down" after a moment and if not, Stacy repositions it. If you have headaches, stress or any kind of pain, please consider acupuncture. It's really amazing. Sometimes I don't tell Stacy everything that is going on with me. After she takes my pulse and places pins, if she gets a spot that I feel the pin (before it quiets down), I'll ask what that spot relates to. When she tells me and it matches an issue that I didn't even tell her about that makes me more of a believer. This is the best sleep I have all week. It's 45 minutes of pure bliss.
