Dr Kern is the best dentist I have ever had! I have never felt any pain and she always explains things in terms that any patient could understand. She always asks how I am doing and remembers updates from 6 months prior. Elizabeth is the best hygienist! The hygienists are for sure kind and attentive. Drs spend 2 -5 minutes with patients. Last visit was super shady. First, I filled out the paperwork with medical information - totally appropriate for 6 month visit. None of my information has changed. AND THEN I was told I was required to complete an identical medical survey for a private company to access medical records that sold products for sleep apnea. I was told patients could leave the office without completing it by the front desk- totally unethical- there should have a been a disclosure form available around transparency and consent. As a medical provider, I was disgusted by their ruse and will not be returning. The overall care is adequate, but administrative practices are suspect.

During my life, I've been exposed to a lot of radiation. I've had interventional fluoroscopy and CT…read morescans performed multiple times. Because of this, I try to limit non-essential radiation exposure. I went to Lumos to get my teeth cleaned. The dentist told me that I needed to get an x-ray first, which I declined. Then, she didn't ask why I declined, she didn't ask whether my family has a history of radiation-associated leukemias, she didn't ask whether I was on immunosuppressive medicines that could make me more vulnerable to radiation. The dentist didn't ask me anything. She rudely told me that I shouldn't come to Lumos. The entire process felt disrespectful and dehumanizing. I would recommend against coming here.

She immediately came towards my teeth with the cold air tool, and I quickly said no because it causes intense pain on my recessed gum area. Even the assistant seemed shocked and said no to her. The dentist shook her head and acted inconvenienced by this. She asked why I grind my teeth so badly and I said, "I guess because I've realized that I have PTSD". I got multiple fillings from him two years ago on the left side of my mouth and they are STILL sensitive. I learned my lesson early, switched to another dentist to do fillings on the right side and what do you know, the other dentist's work is just fine. Not only are my fillings by Dr. T terrible, he also took unusual breaks during the procedure, leaving me to sit there waiting with chunks of multiple teeth drilled out. I went to the bathroom during his break once and saw my teeth without the fillings -- horrifying. No one should ever have to see their own mouth like that. And lastly, I requested that my records and x-rays be sent from his office to my current dentist THREE times over the course of a week, once during my first appointment with my new dentist because they still hadn't sent them after asking twice. As a result, I had to get all new x-rays that my insurance wouldn't cover. That's money lost because of his negligent staff. So in case I haven't warned you enough, please please do not go to this place. You can find much better. I know I did.

In 2024, (both family members) daughter and mother had attended a scheduled appointment. They had waited for more than an hour to be called. Mother had noticed that they took in EVERYONE before them. Nobody even came by to check on them and let them know they would be dealt with soon. Horrible, horrible, patient care skills. They took in a patient who was being rude. He was insisting that he needed to be taken in as if he was the only patient there. And believe it or not, they took him in! They had decided to walk out after waiting that full hour.
