At the initial visit, when I asked the doctor about the costs associated with my case, I was referred to the front desk. The office and the staff are warm and inviting. Appointments are easy to schedule and they always run on time. I am more than satisfied with the dental work I have had done, it is truly top of the line in quality and cosmetically appealing. For someone who has spent a lot of time in a dentist chair it is great to find an office where you know you are getting the best care and it is an enjoyable experience at every visit. My dentist recommended me to see Dr. Amato due…read moreto I have some weird periodontal issue.( a small hole appeared above my gum line, and started foam white discharge) Went to see the doc on 06/17, Dr. Amato decided we should have a small surgery. I had surgery on that day, and told to come back next week to check on the healing. 06/24 was told everything look fine, come back in 3 weeks. However, I pointed out, my gum line is uneven. Doc and nurse said need to wait at least 3-4 weeks before they can do anything. They assure me it will look even. 07/18 Dr. Amato decided to laser the gum line a little bit, so they will look even, it was about 2mm difference at that time. If I smile, you can definitely tell the difference. It was a very quick procedure. During the procedure, Dr. Amato checked with his nurse , he said " do you think I should do a little more? ", He also asked me that question. I was pretty confused , I am not professional. I left office , I sat in my car, I looked into my mirror, I was like, maybe he should laser a little bit more. I went back in the office, spoke to his nurse, I said since I am still numb, do you think we could laser a little bit more. She told me, it was not necessary, if it is still uneven, they will fix it next time. don't worry about it. Today, 08/12, another 3 weeks went by, my gum line is still uneven. Dr. Amato told me, first, he does not have time to fix my gum line, second , if I do want my gum line fixed, I need to pay $1000+ to fix it. Yes, I had small teeth before , now I have bigger teeth and uneven gum line, so if you are looking for a periodontics, would you go with this office?

Concerned, I booked an emergency appointment (which was incredibly expensive) with Dr. Adrienne Tartagni the following day. The appointment seemed routine; they took X-rays, which I didn't expect to reveal anything alarming since I had seen my own dentist back in my home state less than two months prior for an exam and cleaning, as I don't reside permanently in CT. After reviewing the X-rays, Dr. Tartagni performed a hot and cold test on my tooth and abruptly informed me that I needed a root canal. I was surprised because I didn't feel much during the test and mentioned this to her. Looking back, it seemed like she was either guessing or pushing for unnecessary treatment. After being told I needed a root canal, I was taken to the financial office and given an exorbitant out-of-pocket estimate. The news was especially stressful since I am a college student and my dental coverage is in my home state. Ultimately, I sought a second opinion from my dentist back home, who promptly reassured me that my tooth was perfectly fine and that I had narrowly avoided being taken advantage of. Multiple X-rays confirmed this, and other dentists agreed that no treatment was necessary. This happened about a year ago, and today, my tooth feels completely normal and the strange sensation has disappeared. It even felt better a couple of days after the visit, despite the lady working in the financial office saying that the "pain would likely just get worse" if I didn't go through with the procedure. My dentist back in my home state confirmed it was just sensitivity, which I'm confident he was correct about. I believe Dr. Tartagni and her office should feel ashamed for causing such unnecessary stress. While I understand that medical professionals can make mistakes, the entire experience was incredibly frustrating. I often reflect on how fortunate I was to have questioned whether the procedure was truly necessary, especially considering the invasiveness of a root canal. This situation has left me wondering how many others may have been similarly affected by their practices. If faced with a recommendation for an invasive procedure by this office and you're unsure of its necessity, I strongly urge seeking a second opinion.

I scheduled a cleaning after a few years of neglecting to go to the dentist. I had no concerns…read moreother than just wanting to get a cleaning and to get back in the habit of regular dental visits. I let them know I was pregnant when I made the appointment. Knowing how long it had been since I had been in, and that they would not be willing to give me x rays due to pregnancy, and that they would not do a cleaning without x rays, they none the less still scheduled me for the cleaning and then pulled a bait-and-switch after I arrived. The dental hygienist told me they could do a "light exam" which she proceeded to make sound like would include some degree of cleaning. And then we could do x rays and the remaining cleaning procedures in a follow up visit after baby came. In reality, the light exam consisted of the dentist sticking her finger in my mouth for a few seconds--she didn't touch or look at any of the tools and i'm not convinced she even examined my teeth--and then lectured me for 15 minutes with generic advice with no comments on my actual dental health. I presume she did just enough to charge my insurance as if they had actually provided me a service, without committing fraud. In hind sight it is clear there was no chance they would be doing any cleaning, despite what they presented to me. I would recommend finding someone else as I consider this dishonest and unscrupulous. I will be finding a new dentist.
