The five stars are truly not enough to express how good my meal was . I got the fried haddock platter for lunch , it was the best I have had in years , not an exaggeration . The fish was cooked perfectly , it was steak fries not shoe string and the onion rings were cooked to Perfection as well . I paid $21 and I am bringing half of it home . Fantastic! The reviews are accurate. Small place with a small town vibe. I came late (6:30) on a Monday evening to avoid any potential local crowd. There was only one other couple in the place. Several orders were picked up for takeout in my time there. I naturally tried the clam chowder. Very good. Nice and thick. A very generous portion of fish and chips was served along with coleslaw. The fish was in bite sized nuggets which make them easy to eat. The fish was fresh and tasty with a great complement of tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Coleslaw was on point. Steak fries were decent. This was night 3 of my 12 night stay for work. I will definitely come back to try the lobster roll. read more

Man, what a hole in the wall! I wanted some good old-fashioned New England clam chowder while I was here, and I searched and found this place. It wasn't much to look at, and the air conditioning was spotty on this exceptionally hot day, but I wanted a pint of New England clam chowder and by gosh. That's what I got! Not to mention a small shrimp cocktail - my only demerit was the shrimp cocktail was sitting in a bucket of ice. Oh Holy Mother of God Herself! What a great find! The food was exceptional! I had a fried clams and my husband had scallops. Sweet, perfectly breaded and fried to perfection. Clams were HUGE! Cole slaw delicious. Fries were great but neither of us had room to finish them. Both meals rate A++ and 6 stars. This is my goto place for seafood in the area. I got the Haddock Plate. The fish was Flakey and crispy, and came with steak fries and coleslaw. Delicious as always. A large piece of fish with the right amount of batter. The place is quaint with a small, dive like atmosphere. Despite that I recommend eating here for the best experience, so the food doesn't get soggy in the way home. The service was quick and the staff polite. First time here though I've driven by many times. A friend and I ordered via phone in advance for pick up on a Friday around 5 pm. Upon arrival they were busy with many takeout orders as well as patrons on the few tables out front. After paying, the young lady said it would be a few minutes and it was literally a few minutes when she called my name. We traveled about 10 minutes to our destination and after unpacking our order of: The Cajun grilled swordfish with rice pilaf and coleslaw, the baked trio of shrimp, scallops and haddock with two sides (onion rings and fries) and an order of fish and chips, everything was reasonably warm to hot. The fried options were fairly light and not too greasy or heavily coated with batter. The grilled options were slightly overcooked for our liking. It always seems like you get more seafood when ordering fried vs. baked. In our baked trio, we got two medium sized shrimp, two scallops and one portion of haddock which seemed a little scarce. Plenty of fries and onion rings tho. The fish and chips order had a large amount of fish for the $$. About $66 including a tip. Right of I-93, the former Terra Maria, this "Weathervane" style restaurant has an large modern dining room with underwater sea decor. The waitress, young and inexperienced, fumbled with my basic questions on the menu. The good news was that they had a band "S-F" for Soule-Fontaine a 2 guy band that just so-sp. But much better than that sponge Bob Square Pants cartoon that was on the flat screen when we came in. Shortly after we arrived, and got our drinks very quickly, the waitress requested if we could move tables- just down a bit as they had a 8 top coming in. We obliged and she comped our drinks which was cool. We started with a crock of French Onion soup, as it was freezing outside and this item warms the soul. It was fine, a big crouton floated in the middle and covered with melted cheese. The soup was good, however I felt it was missing a bit of acidity in the broth. Dennis had a "Fish & Chip dinner, ($12.99) which came with 2 sides (onion rings and fries). I had a "broiled trio" ($19.99) which was fish (haddock?), 2 shrimps, and 2 large sea scallops. All was in a a gratain dish and covered with too many buttered ritz cracker crumbs. The potion was not big. They did have the shrimps tails removed, thank goodness. A decent meal. I was just here last week and decided to get the fish and chips. It came with chunks of fried haddock, steak fries, and cole slaw. The fish tasted really fresh and I really enjoyed it. Staff was pleasant and honest (checking with the chef to make sure they were "whole-belly clams" not strips. Plated up nicely on paper with a small plate on top to keep warm and slid into a paper bag. The frying oil is fresh as are the clams. Don't forget to ask for plasticware and catchup/salt/pepper as tartar sauce was the only thing automatically included. And the tartar sauce is homemade! Delicious! Local. Outside of NH options, New England Seafoods was and still is my go-to for their twin lobsters, fisherman's platter, and haddock plate. It's always been high quality and a decent value. For $21 their fisherman's platter comes with scallops, haddock, whole clams, shrimp, fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. They don't skimp on the shrimp and scallops either. I just wish they didn't put the coleslaw at the bottom of all the fried food where it gets all warm and wilted. I usually just order takeout or eat the lobster outside in the summer, but last time I was here the dining room looked clean to me. This is a no frills establishment. I was hoping to find a diamond in the rough. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. My $24 one pound lobster, did not have much taste even with the butte r. It's counter service and the young ladies behind it are not skilled in common courtesies. Just give them you cash (or card) and don't expect my response until they shout you order and leave it on the counter 2.) portions/price. The prices are not super high, but not cheap. However, typically portions are greater when paying these priced. UGLY: this place is filthy. Filthy. The staff clearly spend more time detailing their vehicles than there ever would on the dining area. My third try I have cute mouse run under my table. Yes a mouse. When I looked under to see where he went I see why he felt at home seeing I had not been cleaned under there since helps parents had their first date there in 1985. New to the area. First time ever going to this spot. We went because they had amazing reviews. So here we go!!!! We pulled into the parking lot and called in our order. After the order they asked for a name. Gave name. Then said it will be ready in about 10 min. Ok cool. We go for a 13 minute cruise up the road to explore the area. Come back, walk in the place to hear that they never got a order with the name we gave. Asking us if we are sure we called the right place. Smh 5 minutes later they find it. And said we lost it. We will get it started now. So we had to wait another 10 minutes and we didnt even get an apology. It was as if nothing happened. That sucked. It was a bad experience. And the food was good. My husband and I decided to try New England Seafood on Merrimack st in Methuen,, since we used to go to the one they had opened at the local hotel in Methuen near rt 93 and enjoyed it there... Boy was we VERY DISAPPOINTED... The girl taking orders was not the friendliest and seem like we was taken too long reading the menues for her. after placing our order $51.00 later.. my husband got the fried lobster which only was about 5-lobster claws about 2 inches long.... handful of fried and not so cold- sour tasting coleslaw... which should be colder and not tasting sour. i got the coconut fried shrimp which had about 8 good size shrimp, handful of fries and that yucky coleslaw..-We will say though the lobster and shrimp did taste good. we went to go sit at the tables... there was none cleaned from the previous customers , so i went to ask for a damp cloth so i can wipe down our table.. then she came and started wiping down an empty table before coming to ours!!! You can see all the old sticky dust on the decorations and the ac up in the wall.. and the CAKED ON DIRT AND GRIME that has been collecting on the floor under the table was disgusting... All the tables had unrefrigerated tarter sauce bottles and almost empty ketchup bottles..which they should keep refrigerated and just offer tarter sauce with what meals are ordered. Last night we ordered 2 fisherman's platters to go, 1 had 2 tiny pieces of fish, a couple of scallops, 4 shrimp, clams, a handful of onion rings and a few fries. They should have. $8.99 for a large box. The only thing these strips had going for them was individual size. They were rather plump! Too bad they were COMPLETELY lacking in every other department. We went to an over rated place in Seabrook that rhymes with Snarkies on Father's Day and left very underwhelmed. I just got out of work and we wanted clams and scallops but with a 1 year old it was kinda late to drive to Maine like we normally would. We checked this place out and it was phenomenal! The large scallops box came with 12 GIANT scallops and the large clam box was overflowing. I actually had leftovers - my wife and I shared those boxes and each got a lobster roll - also outstanding! We've lived 14 min from this place for 9 years and never knew it was here! HIGHLY recommend this place. I was all excited when I heard that there was a new location for New England Seafoods that provided a more restaurant-style atmosphere rather than the fish-counter ambiance of their other location (also in Methuen). But the new doesn't measure up to the old. While I can't put my finger precisely on what was different (other than the french fries, which were just so-so in the Days Inn location and FABULOUS at the other), it just didn't seem to have the same quality or freshness. Our waitress was fantastic, attentive and friendly. But the room is a bit cavernous and the menu prices higher. On a positive note, the menu is more extensive, which is appropriate for this sit-down location. Maybe I'll go back in the summer when the air conditioning is sure to be cranking - at the older location it can be sweltering - but in my book this new location isn't an improvement. read more
