The staff is wonderful, working in that environment is most often met with patients that are not on their best behavior, in pain who can be ? The staff always remains so optomistic. This is my second visit and the results are great. Dr. Lubrano is the best, concerned with making me feel better and he did.

The biggest issue was the L&D & Mother/Baby unit after delivery. My newborn and I were placed in a room that was only 68 degrees. We were told there were no other rooms available, the solution was to give us extra blankets. We had to wait approximately 36 hours before we were moved to a room with an appropriate temperature. Recovering from childbirth while trying to care for a newborn in a cold room was incredibly stressful. I was also shocked by the cleanliness of the hospital. The postpartum room did not appear clean when we arrived. During my stay, the trash was not emptied daily, and the floors were never mopped. For a labor and delivery unit caring for mothers and newborns, I expected much better sanitation. While a few staff members were kind, my overall experience in both Labor & Delivery and the Mother/Baby unit did not meet the standard I expected. One experience that has stayed with me involved the nurse who introduced herself as Lindsey. She attempted to place my IV before my C-section and was unsuccessful after five attempts between both of my arms. At that point, I politely asked if someone else could try. Instead of responding with understanding, she appeared upset, gave me attitude, and slammed an item before leaving the room. It was an incredibly vulnerable moment for me, and I was shocked by how I felt I was treated. Even if a procedure is difficult, patients deserve compassion and professionalism, especially during childbirth.

They never brought them to her so she had to spit into her covers. My mother is a diabetic and all night they never offered her a drink or something to snack on or eat. I'm very disappointed in the staff for not offering anything to her until the morning. In the morning I called the hospital and asked what was going on, if she was going to get anything to eat or drink. I spoke with Kathy in the ER, one of the case workers or nurse, I don't know what her job title was, but her name was Kathy. The way she spoke to me was very unprofessional and rude. I asked her if my mother was going to get something to eat or drink and her reply is they're cooking it. And I said, "Well, how long is it going to take because she's a diabetic and needs to eat and drink something." She says I don't know, they're cooking it. I told her what had happened at night when she got there. That nobody had brought her tissues and no one offered her anything to eat or drink all night. So I wanted to know a time frame on when she was going to eat that morning. She told me if you don't like it, go somewhere else. I was not speaking in a high tone voice or being rude and she talked to me like that? She is supposed to be a professional. And who says you don't like it, Don't come here. That set me off. When I called my mother back, I asked if she had gotten her breakfast yet. Guess what they brought her? A banana and a cup of coffee! How do you cook a banana?! I went right down there, and before I did, I called the police to meet me there because I knew it wasn't going to be good. The officer went inside to speak to them before I went in because I had a good feeling that they were going to just kick me out. One of the managers came out, apologized to me, and gave a number to call to give my complaint. About a week and a half later, I called and spoke to the appropriate person. I waited because the first thing was to make sure my mom was taken care of. I explained the situation to him. He told me that the matter had been taken care of. This whole complaint is not against Melrose Wakefield Hospital, just Kathy in the ER room. I don't want anybody to lose their job, But in this case I personally think she should be fired. And after this review hopefully they will fire her. That is no way to speak to anyone. There was no reason for that. I did not give her a hard time, I did not yell, I did not use profanity. But she still spoke to me in an ill manner.

On March 9, 2026, at approximately 10:25 AM, I called the OB department at Winchester Hospital…read more Unfortunately, my experience during this call was very upsetting. The person who answered the phone spoke to me in a disrespectful manner. While I was trying to explain that I had not clearly heard what she said, she repeated the message in a frustrated and rude tone. I respectfully asked if she could please speak more gently. After that, she placed me on hold and did not return to the call. I tried calling again several times, but my calls were not answered. When I called from a different phone number, the call was immediately answered, which made me feel that my previous calls were being intentionally avoided. This experience was very disappointing. When someone calls the OB department, it is often during a very important and sensitive moment in their life. Many women calling may be pregnant, worried, or in need of support and clear information. I am sharing this feedback in the hope that it reaches the appropriate team. Working in a department that supports mothers and families is an important responsibility, and kindness, patience, and respect make a big difference in the experience of patients. I hope this message helps raise awareness about the importance of compassionate communication with patients.
