I have been a patient here a couple times during times where I needed a safe and supportive environment to help me get clean and back on my feet. All the staff at New Dawn in both the detox facility and 30 day residential houses are simply amazing. I can't leave out the wonderful staff at the intake house either. Everyone is simply so caring and thoughtful during the rehabilitation process. I can't say enough positive things. If these services are ever need I would not look any further. Facilities are clean, friendly, and the food is outstanding. Every section of this facility is covered by people who truly care for the patients needs and recovery success. As the sister of someone who stayed at New Dawn's Men's House, I can honestly say it gave me my brother back. From the moment he arrived, I could tell this wasn't your typical treatment program, it was more like a healing retreat. He'd tell me about the amazing fresh, healthy meals, the weekly massages as well as trauma yoga, acupuncture, and even the equine therapy that really opened his eyes to new ways of connecting and growing. The gym membership with a personal trainer made a huge difference too, he's stronger and healthier than I've seen him in years. The house is comfortable, the staff truly care, and the brotherhood he found there has been life-changing. Our son went to New Dawn and we want to highly recommend this facility! From the first phone call with Brooke and later with Ashley, we knew there was a difference in this facility as compared to others. Our son shared about how much he learned about his own brain, what triggers are, and how he learned to relax as anxiety was an issue for him. The food was amazing and he would often send pictures of the food and he learned that what he put in his body is important to how he feels and previously he was not eating well. I remember when we saw the pictures and read that there was a private chef, we thought the picture was probably not their normal fare! Oh no, it was beautifully presented and our son said the food was amazing! The counselors were patient and made the information easy for him to understand, so he could incorporate changes into his life. The Administrator Donna was fair with Kris and he liked her sense of humor and we appreciate their understanding and willingness to work with our son on a few difficult days when he initially came. Terrible place...most of the issued here are systematic and there's a reason that 90%+ of addicts relapse in america....you'd think that when your results are ineffective 90% of the time that you would make some sweeping changes to how addiction is treated but apparently not...complete abstinence, AA/NA meetings, and no deviating from this... However this place is ESPECIALLY bad...I was disgustingly addicted to benzos upon arrival...I never attended NA meetings because they triggered me which I told them but I was regularly pestered about going to meetings...whenever I would share any sort of success I had, they would just revert to the negative (but you're not going to meetings, yeah you haven't used x drugs in this many months but I know you had a beer yesterday)...they decided what your sobriety date is, not you...I was there for benzos, I had a date that I quit and never went back to them (even to this day) but I would occasionally have 1 drink to calm.down and they would openly tell.me that it was not my choice as to what date I stated, they got to decide that... While there I also severely injured my back and My doctor prescribed me pain killers. I informed my doctor of my addiction history and we had a plan where I was taking my painkillers very closely monitored and I couldn't pick up more than 1 week worth of prescription at a time. OHHHHH boy, the shit they gave me over that...yeah I guess i should just be in 10/10 pain all day... The crazy thing is that I did get off benzos.and stay off them there, but I was constantly told by PHIL specifically how it wasn't gonna work and how I was incapable of staying clean without going to meetings (he has a hard on for na meetings I swear), and I needed to cut everything out of my life, including natural things that were helping me like Kratom...when I brought up my interest in ketamine therapy, they lost it and said that I was going to get addicted and i was swapping one addicti9n for another and blah blah blah...always citing "research"...well the same so called research also produces 90% failure rates but yeah... I left one day, started ketamine infusions, never attended a single na meeting, and didn't follow.any of their advice...I did the things working FOR ME and ignored their advice entirely (thank god because I would leave every session there triggered and pissed off...never any celebration of how long I was going without using benzos, always focused on the negative...Phil is the worst therapist in the state, what a tool, I hope I see him in.person one day so I can give him.a piece.of my mind) After 4 infusions, I have been stone cold sober since 2018, not a single thing has entered my body including weed and alcohol...I was right, they were wrong...don't go here...getting off drugs was so god damn easy when you actually look at research that provides results...ketamine is 80% effective, new dawns bs methods are.less.than 10%... As per my stay at new dawn women's house fair oaks. The clinical staff was good when it came to the groups, though they seem to forget that they are dealing with Women who are dealing with addiction, not children. I found that the program lacks structure, and the rules seem to be quite fluid. Furthermore...getting straight and honest answers from them is an issue, seemingly problematic when the foundation of the program is honesty. Upon my exit of the program, I needed a return to work letter that I requested at least 3 days prior to my departure. I'm still waiting for it now 7 days later. New Dawn is very unprofessional, I took my daughter here, they kicked her out after NOT going through her belongings at check in. They found old tinfoil in her backpack and said it was for drugs., although they found no drugs. Then they remitted her the next day and after she got all settled in they kicked her out a second time for no reason. My daughter was in tears as she wanted the help. I called management at new dawn twice and they would not return my phone call to explain what happened. Then they withdrew 2000. Dollars from my bank account after telling me they would not use my credit card for anything other than medication. Later workers told all patients that my daughter had drugs after they told me did not, This is a Hippa violation. Terrible place that cares nothing for their patients. If they had any decency they would help my daughter instead of making up lies to make them feel better. read more

This program absolutely changed my life. Of course with any business and private owned company, there are going to be flukes and learning curves. After all, it is a business. Although sometimes things were chaotic, you can't expect things to be silky smooth in a recovery environment and you are there for YOURSELF, not what goes on behind the scenes. That said, I was here for 33 days including detox and the 30-day residential program. I came in with an eating disorder and could not for the life of me figure out how to stop drinking and being so destructive. 95% of the staff were welcoming and didn't make me feel "less than". Crystal, the chef, was AMAZING. I have tons of food restrictions + the eating disorder and she was determined that I gain weight and accommodated immensely to my diet. I truly believe she was a building block in my recovery and goes above and beyond for the house. By the end of it, I gained 5 pounds which was mind blowing to me. Since I've gotten out, I've gained 15! Chelsie was the best damn counselor I could ask for. The attentiveness, the accountability she had for me, her attitude in general were all things I needed coming into recovery. She will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart and I think about her teachings often throughout my recovery after the program. Josette is the other counselor we had at the house and she was amazing as well. It's nice to have two counselors there that are raw and passionate about what they do. The nurses were amazing; Maria, Julia, Laporsha, and "B" were prominently impactful for me. They care deeply about your recovery and make it a very positive atmosphere. It was a weird feeling coming in not wanting to be there, and then being sad by the end of it that I was leaving. They showed me all different recovery modalities that I used as tools to go back into reality. I'm now over 2 months sober, moved out of my toxic hometown, enrolled in school and I live every day thankful for my sobriety. I believe that the other reviews were people that weren't serious about their recovery. Yes insurance was an issue for some, but it's also up to you to verify what your insurance covers. I was extremely happy with my care here. Chelsie was my counselor, I love her and the rest of the staff. Amber is an amazing psychologist also. We had great one on ones with my sister and fiancé. Also, Pardeep and Josette from outpatient are also amazing. So is Michelle at intake. I'm only sorry Crystal the chef is not there anymore. She made excellent meals and taught us to make Lumpia! This is a beautiful property and a lovely home to get clean/sober in (Villa Delera). There are some lovely staff members at well and some wonderful professionals that come to do yoga, education, life coaching, and massage. That being said for the $400 per day (totaling $14,000 for my stay ) on top of the fee for treatment (I believe mine was $85,000) I did not get what I was promised nor what the website clearly outlines. Directly from the website "All of our residents receive at least 4 individual sessions per week with their primary counselor, weekly sessions with our therapists, and also weekly visits with our Psychiatrist.". I never saw a therapist and had 3-4 short visits with one of two counselors the entire time I was there (35 days) and never saw a psychiatrist. It was the therapy and psychiatry that incentivized me to choose this company and specifically this location and pay the hard-earned $400 a day. They promote a 1:1 staff-to-patient ratio, which is definitely not the case, in fact, they are very understaffed. Yes, they have a pool and spa but it is not heated as stated on the website. Directly from the website "Our highly credentialed and experienced staff includes licensed therapists, certified addiction counselors, caring milieu staff, a Physician, and a Psychiatrist who specializes in addiction treatment and co-occurring disorders.", absolutely none of this, in fact when I requested to see a psychiatrist to discuss the depression and lethargy I was experiencing, I was told for $100 they would get me an online visit, Whaaaaaat!? The promised acupuncture happened once. Directly from the website, "We use only the freshest organic ingredients. Our highly skilled chefs can also prepare delicious vegetarian, vegan, diabetic-friendly and gluten-free options upon request. All the meals are plated restaurant style, and there is almost no limitation to what you can have for dinner, and our Registered Dietitian will work with you in choosing healthy food options during your stay. Filet Mignon, Lobster, Seared Ahi Tuna options for dinner, and fresh berry crepes for breakfast", Uhh, just NO. Shopping was done primarily at Walmart and Sam's club, never saw lobster, crepes or a nutritionist. I came to New Dawn broken, and was at rock-bottom. I left New Dawn with a solid foundation for long term recovery and a new lease on life. I stayed at the Loomis location for 30 days, and had access to many different types of theraputic tools- including: massage/exercise therapy, individual and family counseling, nutritional education/gourmet meals, art therapy, medication education, self reflection/DBT, support meetings about addiction, and yoga/meditation therapy. I greatly appreciate the therapists/counselors, medical assisstants (especially Michelle!), massage therapist, nutritionist, and chefs- who treated me with kindness and respect. I learned how to cope, develope healthy relationships, and change my addictive behaviors. Recovery will always be work, but now I have the tools to deal with life's hardest challenges without using. They admitted me for detox with the promise of a residential bed with their program when I was done with detox. I payed half my copay for the residential and started detox. The next morning, myself and 4 or 5 other women were told that, essentially, they lied and there were no residential beds for any of us and it was up to us to figure it out for ourselves. ok...? they told me they would be able to refund what I had already paid them within 30 days. after 45 days they had some bullshit reasons why they couldn't refund me yet (despite paying them FOR SERVICES I DID NOT RECIEVE). it's been over 60 days at this point and they STILL have not refunded me. they've also stopped answering phones when we try to call to figure out when they're going to give me my money back. it's a pretty large chunk of change. hands down the most frustrating experience I've EVER had with a treatment facility. read more

Tying yourself up in your closet for a month would be more effective than going to this nightmare of a facility. I was kicked out after being told by staff to shut the f up. I turned around and told him he needs to watch his mouth. I was told I was aggressive and unsafe to stay here. I talked back to the staff who started it the same he talked to me and was kicked out. I was then lied to by staff by saying my medication would be covered. It wasn't.... The girls stay right across the street from here and guess what happened. One of the boys and one of the girls hooked up and I mean went around all the bases in building two. We all heard it. Don't believe me? The director was fired as well as two nurses. Let talk about housing. House one is the nicest looking but smells like mold. How about food? Well it's all you can eat carb city. Between aggressive immature and lying staff members, unclean houses, non nutritional meals and lack of overall care for the people who need it. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I wish I did more research or at least read the other Yelp reviews. Oh also they do fun deep searches in all your bags before you get there. Funny how someone was there for a week and then showed me and brought in a huge amount of meth. He was kicked out two days later..... hit yourself in the head and go into a coma for a month since i guarantee it will be one million times more efficient and peaceful. I walked in to New Dawn on April 25th at 3:15 pm, Michelle did the intake and was very professional at it, and3 days later I was interduced to Brianna as my counselor, so I met her week later and I can't believe at her young age, she is so smart and so much knowledge. She speaks with such a passion from her heart , she is great at her profession and very professional at it. She really cares about her patients alot and she is god sent for what she does, in helping people going through this horrible disease, iam very lucky and proud to have her as my counselor and she needs to run New Dawn. I could only give New Dawn two stars. If I was just rating Chef Jerry and his crew I'd give them five stars. They do great work keeping the residents well fed on great food and well supplied on the rest. This includes the Resident Support Staff. They all were very courteous and helpful. This also includes the nurses at the detox house. The missing three stars are for counselor Ch**s and the owner Ross. See, the above named counselor wrongfully accused me of something I did not do and when I called him on it he backpedaled with "I don't have all the information". But still, he accused me. That was worked out and less than a week later I was tossed out on more ambiguous charges of "name calling and disrespect from "numerous" people.". No "counseling" or even a reprimand form as this is the usual procedure. Just, pack your stuff and leave. This caught me by surprise and it wasn't until a few days later I came to the conclusion as to what went on. Last year while I was staying at New Dawns Orange Ave. Sober Living Environment (SLE) I posted a less than favorable Yelp about the disgusting food that was being served to us. The house was advertised with an in house chef but never provided during my month long stay. I received a call the very next day from a counselor I had at the IOP about that Yelp. In my opinion I was run off from the Roloff Rehab facility because the owner, Ross, who I was told reads the Yelps every day realized that I was back at the Roloff Rehab facility. He enlisted my counselor Ch**s to do his dirty work. Ch**s made up false accusations that "numerous" people had complained about me for name calling and disrespectful behavior. Needless to say this was a complete lie and Ch**s knows full well it was a lie, but being an obedient toady did what Ross told him to do. I was told by a good friend who worked there that Ross is a petty individual. I have no problem believing this as he is a person who makes money from other peoples misery. New Dawn is a great place to detox but Residential, in my opinion, is not so great. If you do end up there beware of counselor Ch**s as in my humble opinion he is a man of low character and no honor. I personally wish I had never met him or confided my innermost thoughts with him, as a great deal of trust was required of me to share these thoughts with him. had around 14 years of sobriety, went to meetings regularly, was in service in a "anonymous" program for years, and was still just not right mentally. I made a choice to start drinking again in 2013 and within a year was black out drunk 7 days a week. I tried to get sober in Nov. of 2021, went to a detox center in Reno. Made it 20 days before I relapsed. My counselor at that place also worked at New Dawn (Deborah) she called down to Orangevalle and I was there at noon the next day. The first person I met was Brieanna, she did my intake and walked me through the facility... which even after all my time in sobriety was scary to say the least. She made me feel welcome right off the bat. I stayed in a house that her office was in and she would always come down and talk to us in the house, just check in and see how we were doing. My counselor was Adam, who on our first meeting ASKED me what I wanted to work on. I had been in a facility before and they TOLD me what I needed to work on, which I didn't agree with. After getting real with myself and putting pen to paper, I had a laundry list of my short comings. Not only did I work through them all with Adam, Brieanna was always there to talk to (which because of her easy to talk to nature I did constantly) This place... these people saved my life. They taught me how to identify WHY I feel a certain way at times and knowing what to do when I have problems. I learned more about not only myself, but my addiction in 30 days in New Dawn then I did in 14 years of meeting's (and a 28 day program at another facility) Brieanna was not my counselor but because of the connection we made she still checks in on me regularly, and I have called her to bend her ear about some problems I was having. I can't stress how happy it makes me six months in when I see New Dawn calling on my phone. I know it's Brieanna! I came home to Reno and went through the 90 day IOP program where Deborah was my counselor, I still am going to the after care program, which I actually look forward to going to every week. In 7 days I moved into a house I just bought... had my first divorce hearing... had a friend relapse and die... and went to a wedding. And not once did I want to drink. I talked to Brieanna, just to let her know what was going on, and that through all that I was still stable in my recovery. Brian up in Reno is an amazing counselor as well, his groups are always fun, and I know I can call him, Brieanna or Deborah at any point and get help if I need it. My life has never been this good, I'm actually friends with my ex wife now, she said in 22 years of marriage she has never met the person who I've become. Not all recovery centers are equal, I've been to 3 in my lifetime... New Dawn is different, people like Brieanna, Brian and Deborah are what make this place special. They actually care about what they are doing... the people they are trying to help. You can tell it's not just a job for them. I have never written a review for anything, but if you have a problem, and want help, this is the place to go. Just swallow your pride and be real about all the things you feel, things that bother you and they will make a plan specifically for you. Do the work, it's hard at times, and at first it was uncomfortable admitting some of my faults, but being honest is what got me the help I needed. I would give 0 stars if i could! We've been trying to get a family member into treatment & this place was beyond unprofessional and flat out RUDE! The lady told us we had to pay 1,000$ to start at first, then changed it to 1700$ & asked if we could do that. & we had told them like that's a lot we would look into it and see if there were possibly any other options through insurance because of the finances. THIS LADY, she said "ok well we're discharging him since you guys are looking at other rehabs" AND HUNG UP ON US. By far the rudest person ever. I don't think someone with terrible customer service should be working in a treatment center where people are literally at their lowest point and reaching out for help, just to be treated so ridiculously. What can I say about New Dawn. I know I wasn't living my life to the fullest. I was living a life of chaos. I sat in my car crying knowing I was killing my self, not slowly but faster then I could realize. New Dawn called me back, I didn't care of the cost because my life doesn't have a price on it, the price I'm worth is being alive for my family. New Dawn isn't going to magically take my addiction away. I had to do the work. What New Dawn presented me, got me working. From medication, to self love, mental health and being accountable. I never relied on any of the counselors or therapist to get me sober. They were there to show me the tools and if I picked them up I could live a healthy life, but if I left them there, I would be stuck in the chaos. I didn't want that anymore. I wasn't there to be involved in drama with living with multiple woman and personalities. I was there to learn how to live sober and how to identify the trigger in me that I covered with my addiction. I can't thank New Dawn for what they did for me. I left there a new person on a journey of finding and discovering how to live life sober. My family thanks you very much. New Dawn taught me to have a voice, to not react, to identify the feelings when I'm struggling. The Chef, Crystal, she showed me different ways to change my pallet. I could not express in words how incredible this program is. I am a psychologist myself, and I can tell you from experience that it is not easy to find a good therapist/counselor who really cares about their clients. But, that is exactly what you will find at New Dawn Treatment Centers. I can tell you that any negative reviews that are on here are due to the individual writing the review, and are not due to the quality of the program. I had a wonderful experience at New Dawn, and have personally witnessed the power this program has to turn people's lives around. Financially, New Dawn is a great deal for what you receive in return. The food is awesome, and the residential facilities are clean and well cared for. The atmosphere is positive, and the program is effective. The staff's approach to treating substance abuse is both holistic and evidence-based: from equine therapy, yoga, and acupuncture, to psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies. It is an intense program, but it is also fun and engaging. Not once did I ever feel bored there. You are allowed access to your electronic devices so that you are not cut off from the world. Even the cooks at New Dawn are supportive and help with the recovery process. On top of all that, New Dawn works with your insurance so that your out of pocket expenses are low. I left New Dawn feeling like I was transformed into a new, more positive human being. The only problem I had is the older woman. She was rude to my daughter when she's dropping off my stuff. She's a night shift lady with bigger eyes. (TLDR? Do your research before you select a rehab.) Thankfully I only had to endure this place for 24 hours. But people staying there confirmed this is not a good place to get healthy. I can also confirm: 1. Zero clinical staff. After meeting with a "doctor" via iPad & explaining my current meds & situation I literally had to fight that night to get an important medication I've taken for 10 years. 2. Counseling was a sad joke. I was only in 3 groups, but I felt so bad for the lack of concrete help the patients were missing out on. Also they will push AA on you even if you explicitly state you don't believe in the disease model. I was shocked when I asked them about alternative non-secular supports like Smart Recovery -- two different counselors knew nothing about it. How is that possible? 3. They tried to put me in a house with no A/C on a 100 degree plus day, and when I asked to move I was made to feel as though changing beds was too much work for them. ( Thankfully a fed up client who was just leaving after her 30 days intervened to make sure I was moved.) 4. They were training 3 new people on the day I arrived; research it online & you'll see terrible turnover rate & many negative employee reviews. Beware of the misleading website: That's not the food you're given & the accommodations look nothing like the photos. 6. RED FLAG & PLEASE READ: Before I even arrived, I asked "T." to check my benefits over the phone & was told I'd have zero out of pocket. Once I had checked in (and my phone was already taken away) I was told I'd have to pay $100 per day. They tried to keep me there by saying they were appealing it. I asked if I'd be liable for the cost during this time and the girl in the front office said no. During the next 24 hours I asked 3 separate times about my insurance & was told "we're working on it." Finally "E." tells me that I actually would be liable for the cost if the appeal was denied, and if I left, I'd be charged $1,000 for leaving after 12 pm, plus ANOTHER $1,000 for leaving before my treatment plan ended. I wasn't even given a treatment plan yet. Once I threatened legal action (because I suddenly felt like I was in prison), "E." spoke with "M." who apparently decided I was off the hook for any charges. (How big of you.) Now I'm looking into IOP at other places & worried that my short stay here will impact my benefits. If anyone from New Dawn reads this review, please know that I write this review out of concern for current and prospective clients. Your business model is unacceptable. Unless ND can address (and not deflect) the concerns you're seeing in many of the reviews on here, you aren't really addressing the real reason your business should exist: to provide a safe space for those who want to be free of substance abuse. read more

It is great all the people that gone though with your alcohol and addiction to drugs can show you a new dawn path if you fucking get off your lazy ass and work to become sober.They are not there to wipe your ass.If you listen and pull your head out off your ass they will all teach life lessons to become sober if you work for it.After rehab aa or na or both.You have to work to be sober that is #1 that what they teach you.I have a sober new dawn everday.Nothing is perfect that is why you are to learn about your addiction.Work the program or be unhappy or jail or death or choice because those feelings for anything in life never go away that what rebah teaches you!9 month sober and a secatary at a aa meeting hall that what they taught me one alcohol or addict help the other will keep you sober if you work for it plain and simple! read more

Everyone's experience in seeking treatment and recovery is unique and their own and if your not ready to make changes and have an "additude of gratitude" then it will be hard to see the blessings that are placed in front of you. I was at ND for alittle over two weeks and I am truly grateful for what they have given me. I gave it up to my higher power to direct me in the right direction and place the people I needed in my life and he sure did with the staff, counselors, and outside contractors at ND. I learned alot about recovery and coping skills as well as how to like myself again. The RSS staff always helped when they could and the counselors went out of there way to push my insurance for more days of treatment cause I wasn't ready to go home yet. Although I wasn't able to get the full 30 days I am so grateful for the time a did have. Miss the amazing food and the quiet peaceful backyard. I don't write reviews but I feel like this place was the real deal. I have been to rehab before and left after a week or so. This place was different. It seems like the counselors really care about you and like they really wa see you succeed. My insurance company tried to cut me off like three times and they went to bat for me. When I eventually got cut off after 31 or so days they got me set up in an outpatient program right by my house. things I liked-my counselor was really cool and super smart. You can tell she knows what I was going through. I also really liked my groups. They were a good mix of hard-core emotional stuff and education, kind of like school. I would just say be prepared to be busy! There are a lot of awesome activities to make the whole thing better than your typical rehab- you get acupuncture, do yoga (not what you'd expec), you do a class with horses. It's just different and better. Highly recommend this place. read more

I am am grateful to have had the opportunity to get into recovery through New Dawns residential program. Dr. Moore was especially helpful in understanding the best methods to achieve long term Sobriety. the staff is knowledgeable regarding addiction and realizes that each individual will require their own personal path and method of recovery to succeed. All the tools to make my life into a beautiful experience were provided, and it was made clear that I had to take the action and the initiative to use these tools. I'd give it less stars if I could, there's so much false advertisement. For one dual diagnosis, they barely had a counselor for us let alone there was no therapy at all. I had to do my own after care and find my own therapy and iop. Not to mention they couldn't even get my doctors note right for work so I had to reach out to my doctor. The physician visit is via an iPad which was a shit show, I didn't get my anti craving meds until the day I was released. Your one on one with your counselor if you were lucky to have one, was pretty much your review so they could charge your insurance. Save yourself the time and money I wouldn't recommend this place AT ALL!! Ive gotten way more out of my I.o.p program. The useful stuff I took from this place was pretty much from the other residents, the life coach Brenda, Kelly the yoga instructor, and Phil who teaches the neuroscience of addiction they were amazing!!! And don't be surprise if you get extra charges to your insurance as I did, charged twice for labs when it was only done once and the physician never received my results. They ended up using lab results from my doctor that I had done before admissions to this place... I can go on and on about this place but try at your own risk. I would have gone somewhere else if I could have but stuck it out because I was already there and had no choice. They will also say you're allowed to use your phone which is bullshit, once you get there they take it away. And you're only allowed to use it with permission from a counselor and you have to be in front of staff. Like you're really gonna door dash booze..lol you're given 15min daily to make phone calls while pretty much chaperoned. They had a million excuses and no answers. read more

New Dawn's program may be fine for heroin addicts or alcoholics, but if you're dependent on benzodiazepines like Klonopin, Valium and Xanax, avoid this place. They don't seem to know what they're doing in my experience. My wife went there last month to break a 30-year dependency on Klonopin, a drug that was prescribed to her for insomnia and anxiety. She was not an abuser of the drug in the sense that she only took the prescribed amount, and never for recreational purposes. But Klonopin should only be prescribed for weeks because of the potential for addiction (unbeknownst to her). Because she is now in her 60s, her doctors say she needs to be off the stuff. So New Dawn put her on a nine-day wean to detox. It was pretty brutal, but my wife got through it. Then they moved her to their residential wing for what was to be eight days. Instead, after the first day in residential, I get a call from the facility informing me that my wife has been shipped to the emergency room of a nearby hospital because she was having panic attacks and they couldn't handle them. They told me to pick her up at the hospital. They basically kicked her out rehab (and behind her back, too; they told her she would be returned to New Dawn after the ER visit - the ER, by the way, gave her Benadryl to calm her down). They made it sound as if my wife's acute withdrawals - the uncontrollable trembling, the anxiety, the inability to concentrate, the chills -- were outliers, something out of the ordinary. I believed they were, too, until I did some research on my own. I've since discovered that my wife symptoms are in fact quite typical for someone with a 30-year benzo dependency, including the anxiety. There's even a name for it: "rebound anxiety". Moreover, another rehab facility and a hospital both told us that a nine-day wean was simply too fast for someone with a 30-year habit. Yet this outfit claims they're experienced in prescription pill rehab. All I can say is, from everything I've read and heard, this is apparently not true. They simply took on something they couldn't handle and might well have foreseen they couldn't handle -- given all the literature -- and when they couldn't handle it, they patient-dumped her. Her counselor told me they'd try to find another facility that would take her and call me, but they never did. They mustn't have looked very hard. The first place I called after taking her home and trying to deal with her there for a few days, Akua, said "no problem - bring her in". Then, to add insult to injury, my wife had asked New Dawn for a private room when she went to the residential unit for what was supposed to be eight days. She agreed to pay a $1,600 surcharge for those eight days. But when New Dawn threw her out and closed the door on her, they didn't issue a refund for the seven days, or even tell her one was forthcoming. We had to find that out when we got her credit card bill. We've called New Dawn's corporate office - because when New Dawn kicks you out of their program, the patient has to do the refund legwork, apparently - where the person on the phone said she'd ask her boss to issue a refund. There's no refund pending on the credit card account as of this morning, so we filed a dispute with the credit card company. We'll also be checking with my wife's insurance company to make sure they didn't charge HealthNet for the seven days of service they did not provide. My wife tells me she ran into another woman, an alcoholic, who had a similar experience with the charges. They seem to be very quick to take the money, but a little slow in returning it. My first experience with New Dawn was in 2016. I have to say that the staff here was so wonderful. I have experienced problems with all sorts of substances including benzodiazepines and this place is top notch. They care. And showed it in the work they do. I would recommend this place! read more

This facility should never be allowed to treat addicts. My experience was the worst possible, including my trip to the ER while in detox. They withheld required medications from my personal psychiatrist, did not pick up my refills and left me for days without my meds for no reason. The staff is constantly changing because working conditions are horrible, in their own words. One person tells you something and another tells you something else. They tell your roommates something, but you something contradictory. They don't know the names of their coworkers. They didn't even give me an orientation, for God's sake!!! I received no therapeutic services, because they had no staff. They yelled at me frequently when I tried to address problems. They violated my HIPPA rights to privacy. Now they refuse to provide me with my medical records, violating another law. It was absolutely a disaster from the day I arrived until I discharged myself in fear for my health. But they will turn everything around to blame the patient. They are a huge profit center...is that an organization you can trust?? And in addition, Mr. Ross, owner, has not responded to any of my calls, which are almost everyday. He does NOT care. No one returns messages. My personal belongings were stolen. read more

We will be forever grateful to New Dawn Residential Treatment Home. Our family was fearful we were going to lose our son to the disease of alcoholism. The staff welcomed him and squelched any fears going in. It has been a long road but our son is now 75 days sober and that is thanks to the counseling, accountability and formation of new habits that have helped him become healthy in mind, body and spirit and a lot of hard work on his part. The staff truly care about the success of the guests and work hard to prepare them for their reentry into the journey of their lives. When they leave they are armed with the tools they need to succeed. It turns out that we all learned valuable lessons in this experience and have incorporated the information gleaned into our own lives. Family support is imperative. read more
