Great place food was nicely cooked and the noodles were good, definitely recommend if you're just looking for a good Chinese place!

We were staying on Jekyll Island and decided we wanted some Oriental food so we did a search and this restaurant came up. Several reviews we read warned of the run down appearance but said to ignore that and give it a try. We walked in and were quickly seated. The restaurant was not packed but there were several people inside eating. We only saw one waitress, one gentleman busing tables and asking if people needed anything, but we never felt we were lacking for attention or service. Our waitress even took time to describe a couple of dishes to help me decide what I wanted. We started with spring rolls and cheese won-tons. Both were brought out hot and steaming. When we bit into them we were struck by how fresh and tasty they were. We could have made our meal on them alone! But we ordered entrees and were glad we did. My husband got Almond Ding w/scallops and I ordered Lo Mein w/ House Special (it is a bit of everything added). With the rice, white as we ordered, the serving size was large enough that we had to get to go boxes. Both dishes were appealing to eye and the flavors were pleasing to the palate. If we ever find ourselves back in Brunswick we will definitely eat here again. read more

I love Chinese food, and it is hard to make it a bad experience for me. But New China worked hard to create a excessively subpar experience. The Kung Bo chicken (similar to Kung Pao chicken I've enjoyed at better establishments, but perhaps renamed to protect the integrity of the Kung Pao name brand) was somewhat edible but by no means delightful. I ate it because, well, I was hungry. But seriously, if this is New China, can we please have the Old China back?! read more

We had lunch here for the first time since had relocated to St Simons Island eight years ago. This is a very clean restaurant but the soup and lunch entress were very salty. You really could not taste anything but the salt. read more

Would you believe some Chinese chefs can't even cook rice properly? The Chinese have a rich culinary culture and heritage so it is with great sadness that there is so much terrible Chinese food being cooked in this country. Look no further than New China for your proof. For some reason this place is popular with locals but it is ghetto Chinese at it's worst. Gravies and sauces were downright awful, as were all the seven dishes that we sampled were bad. Light on the protein (shrimp, beef and chicken) and heavy on the filler. Heavy-handed MSG. Do you suffer from low sodium levels? Are you hypoglycemic? Are you constipated? Then this is the place for you. Everything is loaded with 3 things; sodium, grease, and MSG. When you leave there your blood pressure will be through the roof, the migraine starts to set in and you are searching for the nearest bathroom. To the idiot that told me the place was awesome... screw you! To everyone else please go elsewhere because I'm so sick at my stomach I think it might be food poisoning. read more

Great Chinese !! We had the pu-pu platter it was really good. I'm not really sure what was on fire in the pu-pu platter, but it was a sight to see and taste. We had a great egg drop soup, tasty. I had some beef on skewers it was cooked really well. I would recommend this place for good Chinese. Mama Chow was a very gracious host. Mama Chow has been in the Chinese food business for at least 30 years. If you want authentic Chinese food this is the place to go in Brunswick. read more

This place used to be known as a small town favorite. Unfortunately, it has turned into terrible food and service. I purchased 2 meals because they wouldn't allow substitution. I would have gladly paid an upcharge for a substitute. Then, when I got back to work, the sesame chicken was slimy and tasted of fish! The chow mei noodles and veggies was tasteless and had hardly any veggies. I ate the fried rice and an egg roll and threw out the rest, as I was at work and could not go back. I called fasting for even a partial refund and they refused. It was awful food and awful service. I do not recommend. read more

We got there were seated quickly and served quickly. I ordered Gen To Chk and he ordered shrimp FF and Winston soup. He doesn't eat veggies at all and although his dinner does not come with any at all out if habit we tell her nothing green on his plate. Food is no good. First visit. I wasn't expecting anything just some simple store front Chinese, nothing authentic but somehow even those low expectations were not met. I ordered the pepper steak with fried rice and an egg roll, the lunch special. Price was great $7! The service was also fast and friendly. The hostess took the time to explain what certain things on the menu were but this food is gross. Strange flavor, strange aftertaste. I tried to still eat it because it's close to work which is 40 mins from home but I'm going to have to just toss it. Not worth the calories if I'm just going to stuff it down my throat and suffer through each bite. Bummed. I was happy to have something nearby that wasn't a sandwich but I think I'll just stick with the hospital cafeteria next time I find myself out this way. read more

My friend and I had lunch here today at about 12:30. The hostess brought our menus and waters. We got the Tuesday special. It was what my friend raved about. Chicken and gravy. It was terrible. My friend found a black hair in her food. The flavor was bland. After seeing the hair, we both lost our appetite. I left $3 for the server and went to the cashier. I thought she might comp one meal, but I was charged for both. We only had a little of the food, I wish I had taken a picture. It was truly a waste of twenty dollars. I was there on December 8,2019 with my family after church. The male gentleman that was our waiter was nice but messed up my order and over charged me for my food and when I tried to explain to him I order the samething everytime I come here he got combative. When it was time to pay the lady up front was RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL. This was a place I loved eating to on my lunch breaks, but after the service I experienced I WILL NEVER RETURN! read more

Very fresh!!! It is my favorite Chinese Restaurant. Love it.

There were four of us passing through Brunswick and stopped here for lunch. We ordered a family style dinner and we were rather impressed. The won ton soup was flavorful and so were the egg rolls. The meal itself was pretty good too. I would call this "old school" Chinese food but it was fresh and good sized portions. It was a very good value for the money. Our waitress was friendly and very attentive. If we lived near we would certainly come again. read more

On a recommendation we went for the 1st time the other night. We were seated and waited on very quickly. The soup and egg roll were very good. My husband I had the dinner for two which we enjoyed very much. We had enough leftover that we purchased 2 egg rolls to go and made supper the next night. I was very happy to order hot tea and get it in an insulated pot and little chinese teacup not a cup of hot water and a teabag like another chinese restaurant we've gone to. We will definitely go back and will bring guests. read more
