The nail work I've received, the sides of my where she added the acrylic are uneven and thick and length of the nails are also uneven and crooked. This is the first salon I've been to that she used a scissor to cut my nails. A few of the nails are so thick it has a curve to it at the base and the nail tect refused to accept what I told her. She kept making excuses and that she don't see it and "it's fine. Nothing is wrong". I literally had to turn my fingers around and showed her from my angle. After asking politely it a few times for her to fix it, she quickly buffed it off and I can tell she's irritated. Mind you, I let her talk the whole entire time telling me why I should come back. She asked me where I've been to before her salon and how often I "treat myself". As a mother, we don't pamper ourselves enough, but I don't have to tell her what I know about self care and beauty experiences. I mentioned one on "H" and she replied "people don't go there anymore because they're getting old". I didn't comment, I just let her continue to talk...I thought that was rude of her to say that, so I continued to keep my silence and nod. Before she finished, she told me to rate the salon and "give it a 5 star". She was demanding for me to rate it before I leave and literally had her phone up waiting for me to do it. She asked me a few separate times to do it. I did what she asked at first, but I felt so wrong giving it a 5 star. Due to slow or no connections, the page was loading for the longest time. She mentioned it again one last time, I got a little annoyed and showed her my phone screen that's loading. That's when she finally stopped bothering me about it. The page never completed before I left, but I'm going to give my honest opinion when I get home regardless. I usually don't rate, but I did here just because she asked me to. If you guys ever go anywhere where the service TELLS you to give them a "5 star", just be honest to yourself, the service they provided, do others a favor on social media and rate it honestly. The pedicure had no polish, my toenails weren't buffed despite my specifically requesting it, and quite a bit of thick skin around the nails was left behind. I actually went home and finished the pedicure myself -- not quite the pampering finale I had envisioned. The technician replaced the hand and foot massage with a superficial application of lotion. By then, after two hours, I was late for my next service and just ready to move on. ‍Massage with Shannon: Absolutely. This was the redeeming service. I had a wonderful deep-tissue massage and body scrub that put me into a deep state of relaxation. The temple pressure during the scalp portion was too strong for me and took a few reminders to lighten up, but everything else was excellent. I had a prenatal massage scheduled but unexpectedly went into labor the morning of my appointment…read more I called just a few hours after giving birth to let them know I couldn't make it, then spent the next 10 days calling four times to speak with the manager, only to receive an email reiterating the cancellation policy. I understand businesses need policies, but I was disappointed there was no effort to offer any reasonable accommodation--such as a future credit or discount--for a circumstance completely outside of my control. As a local customer, what disappointed me most wasn't the policy itself but the lack of compassion, communication, and customer service during such a significant life event. If you cater to late-term prenatal clients, it's worth considering a policy that recognizes spontaneous labor can happen. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this business based on how this situation was handled. Update: While the manager is standing by their cancellation policy, they acknowledged that late-term prenatal appointments are a unique circumstance and shared that they're reconsidering whether a separate policy should exist for situations like unexpected labor. They offered me a $120 spa credit as a goodwill gesture (with the original cost of my charged prenatal massage service being $240) I appreciate that they took the time to listen, reflect on my feedback, and make an effort to address my concerns. While I still believe there is room for improvement in how these situations are handled and the offer to make it right, I'm grateful my experience may help create a more compassionate approach for future prenatal clients.
