I planned ahead and reserved a table. We arrived at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm reservation and were…read moreseated. Service was really quick initially but as the restaurant got busier around 6:30pm the service slowed. We didn't get out of the restaurant until 7:15pm. Annabelle, our waitress was great and attentive. Drinks were delicious, I ordered the crouching tiger which was very refreshing with tequila and grapefruit. We opted for the traditional set menu. Unfortunately online there is a £37.50 evening menu, but once we arrived the starting price was £72.00 a person and up. That was my only compliant, just a little more transparency and consistency with pricing across platforms. Otherwise all of the food was delicious. I loved the lobster toasts and braised beef. Would recommend if you're in the area, but definitely a more expensive restaurant in the area, but a lot of food for the money.

The service and the ambiance is definitely giving instagram first quality of food second. The shrimp crackers tasted stale! The sauce that came with it was also a bit spicy which I enjoyed. The chicken was surprising in that you couldn't modify the amount of heat in the dish. To me that indicates it being pre-cooked. That is very strange to me because literally every single Asian restaurant in the world has the ability to customize their menu, especially when it comes to spice levels. I actually wanted mine to be hotter than it was. Another person in our party wanted less spice. No exceptions were made. The egg spicy noodles were probably my favorite thing that I tried. Again we were told that the spice level that couldn't be modified at all. For the price you pay you should really get more in both size and in quality. The music and the vibe were very trendy and appealing to the instagram crowd. I would not likely come back.

Food was very disappointing, after coming here I never want to come back ever again. The service…read morewas okay, however my expectations were met with pure disappointment as the food was very expensive considering it was for two. in previous years Saigon Saigon used to be with more flavour and overall seemed so much better with the previous owner of the restaurant.

I don't get the negative comments. We were a big group (9) and ordered mostly from their "Chinese…read moredish menu" (they have Vietnamese and Chinese dishes from multiple regions in China). The beef tripe was super yummy! Great with beer! Their braised pork belly with pickled veggies 梅茶扣肉 was done right, just like how a traditional Hakka grandma would make. The king prawns, the steamed fish, pan fried stuffed veggies, braised aubergines, & tofu 煎釀三寶 were delicious too. Beware of the spicy level though. You can ask for mild or not spicy on some dishes. The dishes we had were authentic regional dishes. Just not all from one region. A mix of north and south and the middle. I reckon their Chinese dishes would not taste like those from a neighborhood Chinese takeout shop though. Owner is Vietnamese Chinese. He said the Vietnamese pho and dishes were done how it would be made in his hometown. Gotta come back and try that. Also tried the Vietnamese beer. For what we had that night. It's 4.5 stars ambiance is casual family style

Assorted soup based and dipping sauces, crab, shrimp, thinly sliced beef/pork/lamb, standard Chinese veg, udon, ramen...for £15.99 per person all you can eat, and the quality is pretty good. Not the best I've had (which would probably be in Beijing), but pretty good indeed (especially for Edinburgh). Good with friends and worth coming back! Bring cash - no credit cards accepted!

Now quality of food is standard quality but that more greasy goodness we all need occasionally. However, some of their dishes can be lighter and boast some of those home comfort feels, like their chicken and egg noodle soup. It's also great if you want to get more traditional Chinese dishes, such as beef intestine. Yes, they have that. But if you want to get the more popular Chinese dishes they have that too. Mabo tofu is really good, nice and spicy yet light tofu. New favorite may be the beef ho fun which is so nice for the fried noodle cravings. Also, they serve bubble tea! The bubble tea is yummy. Downstairs they have hot pot and little grills if anyone is thinking of a more all you can eat type experience.
