Best restaurant in Holts Summit by far. We have had carry out from here many times. It is always fresh, hot, and perfect. One of the best things about New China in HS is Amy. She is super friendly and makes sure everything is correct. The restaurant is always clean and smells good. I love to Crab Rangoon, it is nice and crunchy on the outside, with gooey melted creamy filling. Every single time we go there, we end up happy and full. You can't ask for anything more. New China is one of those quirky places that makes Holt's Summit unique. It's a small spot that is basically take out only. They have tables and they have a food bar where you could do a buffet but it seems that they do 100% carry out. The door should be a revolving one because there was a constant flow of people coming in to get food. Call ahead to order because if you don't it will be a 30 minute wait on your food. I have actually lived in China so I know good Chinese food but I also try to have reasonable standards/expectations. It's not bad at all. I will definitely be back to try it again. We tried the Pork Chow Mein, Steam dumplins, Beef Mushu and Kung Pao Chicken. The Dumplins and Kung Pao were decent. Chow mein and Mushu were ok. I use to love going to this place but now what use to cost 15$ is 25$ and they want you to tip them to cook you food and for you to pick it up after it's been marked up. would love to go to the place more often but the greed for money is destroying this place. they are running off the few people that still support this behavior she will give you the little puppy dog eyes to try and get you to tip. read more

the prices keep increasing but the portion size is very small. it's a rip off and not worth it. plus they ask for tips. why? we drive there ourselves and you don't serve us. I have not been there in over a year because of the rip off price and small portions. I go to other places in Columbia or make it myself. We have lived in Jeff city for five years. We've been searching for a good Chinese restaurant the whole time; we finally found one we just left and it was fantastic with friendly service too. Finally found somebody that knows how to cook Chinese food. Its primary businesses take out with a small area to eat, but it's still very nice. read more

We were told that the owner, Amy, is a sweet lady that doesn't mind catering to the taste of the locals, before we came down from Seattle, Wa for the Feast of Tabernacles. They wasn't fibbin'. She literally knew what we could of could not eat and was fine about it. If we picked up something unknowningly, sheld just joke about, "oh I can eat that, I'll take that" and she'll eat it herself. The place is quaint with a calming atmosphere. I'm sure to the locals Amy and the restaurant is a gem to have in their town. They make a mean peanut butter chicken. Their hot and sour soup as well as their egg drop soup were satisfying. I hope their business continues for a long time. If we come back next year, I'll definitely come eat at New China again. And hope to see Amy as well. read more

The food is always excellent. The owner Amy remembers our order, including all of the special requests like extra sauce and no onions from memory based on our telephone number. If you have dietary restrictions, she will do special orders. Her gluten free menu is amazing and I'm not even gluten free. I suggest you order early because she's usually busy. This has always been my favorite restaurant since I was a little girl. The owners have become family friends, and they put pride in customer service. I love New China. The carryout service is great and I've been many times since moving to Holts Summit. My favorite item on the menu is the shrimp lo mein. The noodles are seasoned to perfection and they put in a great amount of shrimp and vegetables. Their crab rangoon and steak and cheese egg rolls are perfect and reasonably priced sides. I have tried numerous dishes and haven't had a bad one yet. I usually opt for the carryout service and the order is always ready when they say it will be. The lady who runs the shop is Amy and she is extremely friendly and sweet. They also do a lunch buffet that I would like to try. I highly recommend giving New China a try.
