Naming a Milwaukee Public High School after the fourth Chief Justice (and Secretary of State under…read morePresident Adams) seems odd. Maybe not quite appropriate even though Marshall was ethically opposed to slavery, he did own slaves and in a decision concerning the captured slave ship kept one third of the human cargo enslaved (the other two thirds were sent to Liberia). I suppose it doesn't matter as American history isn't really taught anywhere any more. The school itself use the arts to connect the curriculum and in spite of under-funding from the state level, they do a pretty good job it seems like. The building also houses some good community recreation programs run by Milwaukee Recreation. There's a swimming pool so there are swimming lessons, hit Milwaukee Recreation to see what is offered and when. http://milwaukeerecreation.net/rec.htm

In the summer it's a nice walk around the neighborhood that surrounds this spans. Just an all-around pleasure to see the maintenance on this classic spans of area on the edge of Milwaukee proper.

After the location had experienced a revolving door in the Director role years prior, after she arrive the whole camp took a major shift for the better. Over the past 2 years that she's been there, the facility is clean, the staff is welcoming and nice and our school age children love it there. It seems like she practically knows every child by name. Last summer (2025) they had some pretty cool events like Trike Fest where all the kids did a tricycle parade in the lot. They had food trucks and snow cones along with other fun activities. The staff hosted every activity booth while still running their day to day programs which allowed parents to be present and mingle with each other. I'm glad we found signed up our children.
