The guys here are super friendly, personable with great senses of humor. My gf called pretty last minute for the tatts we wanted, as I think her usual guy was booked. We got matching 3E tattoos. The place was wheelchair accessible too, so that was nice. We had Zane tatt us. I was not part of the conversation between the studio and my gf and did not get a chance to look at his portfolio. She was paying for it, so I just went with the flow. He was nice, quick and swift. My tatt did not come out as purple as I wanted, so I'm not sure if color is his thing. Some people just have an eye for color. We got them behind the ear. And aside from not getting the color right, the tatt itself turned out great. And behind the ear didn't hurt for me at all and it was super fast. He struggled to tatt my gf who has spinal muscular atrophy. But considering he had never tatted someone like her before, he seemed to adjust ok. He seemed nervous so I wasn't sure how it would turn out. My tatt healed fine but by gf is definitely going to need a touch up. All considering it was a pretty good experience and apparently the owner gets booked up pretty fast. A girl was in there from FL. I think this place is great. We went on a day that the shop was offering U.p. and Lake Superior for $30. They opened early and stayed late so folks could show their love for our home! Justin was my artist and he was super cool and careful. Not rushing even though his shop was full of customers. This tattoo shop has been trained in identifying suspicious or potential skin cancers. They are the only shop anywhere that have been through such training. They give back to the community by supporting non profit organizations like UPAWS no kill animal shelter. Good dudes! read more

Tried to get in contact with piercer, direct messaged the business, called, was told to come in two separate times (the first time I came in he wasn't there, second time he has someone write down my name and number than never called back or answered my calls). I ended up going to another shop in town to help me, it's called Aurora, I recommend going there for piercings. My first experience with the piercer at new age was amazing and I was so let down to have this experience with him. I understand getting busy or not knowing how to help with the issue I was having but I never even got a call back. Super disappointed. Half off Wednesday nose piercing with friend = crappy job, lots of pain, and eventually had to get it repierced. My nose is forever screwed up with scar tissue from these guys. It's not noticeable since the scar tissue is on the inside, but do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

I don't know what's with all the really old reviews, but here's a fresh one. Nearly every time I come home I get some work done. Cory is just the best. We've been on a journey with my back tattoo. At this point it's taken on a life of its own. Cory's work is by far the best, and just an easy guy to sit with for THREE plus hours at a time without things feeling awkward. If you are from the area, plan on visiting, or coming back home...I'd recommend Cory's work hands down. Do not buy gift certificates from New Age, they will NOT honor them. I received a gift certificate and I have been trying to set up an appointment since April 12th. I sent Facebook messages on 4/12, and received a response same day. I replied with what I wanted done and was left one read on 4/13. I sent 2 more messages on 4/18, and also CALLED and left a voice mail with my name and number the same day at 5:20pm. I have NOT received a call back. I sent another Facebook message on May 4th and received another reply advising the artist "hasn't looked over your inquiry" and "will get in touch ASAP". I have not heard from New Age since. read more

I went in to get a tragus piercing at 2:45, and the guy at the desk said the piercer was out, but that he should be back within 30-45 minutes. I went for a walk, and when I came back just after 3:30, he said that the piercer wasn't in yet, but should be in any moment. I waited with another guy who wanted his ear pierced, and read a few magazines while I was waiting for him to come in. I'm not a terribly patient person, but I was trying to give a good faith effort in waiting. Around 5:15, the guy across from me asked the guy at the desk if the piercer was coming in at all, and he responded that the piercer had not been responding to his calls or texts, and was probably not coming in at all. At that point, I'd been waiting nearly two hours from when I'd come back, and almost three from the time I walked in the shop. I asked the guy at the desk if they did appointments, and he said "Nah, but come in on Wednesday. Piercings are half off, and the guy is almost always in." No way am I going back! If you can't bother to come into work or answer your boss when they call, and you keep clients waiting for hours, I don't see a need to patronize your business. read more

Terrible service and communication. I went to make a deposit for an appointment and found out it was cash only, so went to use the ATM at Wells Fargo. The person at the desk insisted I use the ancient and decrepit ATM they had in the shop, which kept my card for 20 minutes and did not give me my money. We ended up having to unplug it and I had to go to Wells Fargo anyway. The artist we were working with, Justin, consistently did not respond to text messages despite giving me his number so we could communicate about the tattoos. The day before my appointment, he finally responds telling me my appointment is cancelled and I cannot get my deposit back. I would understand not being able to get my deposit back if I had cancelled the appointment, but I didn't, they did, and to me that is stealing. Besides that, the lobby of the shop was filthy. The desk was a mess and the carpet was grimy and had bits of trash all over it. Overall, my experience with New Age was pretty terrible and I would never recommend anyone to go there for a tattoo. I would give a high recommendation to both Inkwell and Sacred Tattoo studios. They are just so much more professional, hygienic, and respectful than at New Age, and I deeply regret my decision to try out this tattoo studio. read more

Their tattoo work is good, but they are all over the place with their prices. Three of us went in for tattoo's... one sat in the chair for two hours, had a large piece on her thigh, and got charged $200... me and the other girl got small pieces together on our back shoulders, took 30 minutes EACH, and we got charged $200 EACH... not to mention the second one he did was half-assed and barely shaded compared to the first. Told him we had $200 to work with, but apparently to him that meant regardless of what he did, he was getting $200. If you are going to get tattooed, I would hands down recommend Wes!! Initially I thought that Justin was a great artist, got my first tattoo there. Then once I got more tattoos I realized how heavy handed he was. His line work is crap. And After I got my tattoo he told me I could come in and get it touched up, I asked several times for an appointment and every time I asked the message was seen and never responded to. I've had two piercings done as well, the experience with the piercing was what you would expect. Clean tools and work space. It was quick, and the basic care instructions are given. So in my opinion, if you are wanting a head turning tattoo, this is not the place you should be going to. Piercing quality is fine though nothing to complain about. read more
