Deft popped up and I decided to email Joshua. After a few emails, I came in Tuesday to book for a Thursday slot; the only slot they had open. I came in first thing Tuesday to book my appointment, and ran into Nicky at the desk. She was very helpful, and told me that she had a client due in at 11am that wasn't showing. 5 more minutes she said, and I could have that slot. Well I guess I didn't need to book for that Thursday. She basically took me on the spot. We drew up some designs, and I have to say she not only gave me a tattoo better than I could have ever come up with, but did a really good job. I have a few tattoos, done by several Detroit artists, and have to say; her work ranks right up there. As for that Thursday appoint; I plan on coming back if they can book me. We got matching 3E tattoos. The place was wheelchair accessible too, so that was nice. We had Zane tatt us. I was not part of the conversation between the studio and my gf and did not get a chance to look at his portfolio. She was paying for it, so I just went with the flow. He was nice, quick and swift. My tatt did not come out as purple as I wanted, so I'm not sure if color is his thing. Some people just have an eye for color. We got them behind the ear. And aside from not getting the color right, the tatt itself turned out great. And behind the ear didn't hurt for me at all and it was super fast. He struggled to tatt my gf who has spinal muscular atrophy. But considering he had never tatted someone like her before, he seemed to adjust ok. He seemed nervous so I wasn't sure how it would turn out. My tatt healed fine but by gf is definitely going to need a touch up. They're clearly in-demand, so be courteous and expect to book well in advance. I had a lot of nerves going into it but Vince and the rest of the staff were very supportive and excited for me. He was kind and talked me through the whole set-up process. We finalized artwork details together, deliberated about final placement until we were both happy, and I never felt rushed to make decisions. He was very patient with me and that helped to calm whatever nerves I had left. The inking process went much quicker than I anticipated, but even so he checked in on me periodically to make sure I was okay, was kind enough to share his process and the educational path to becoming a tattoo artist, and the conversation was easy. Aftercare instructions were simple and well explained. The entire space is comfortable, the music was eclectic and fun, and their bathroom is top-notch clean!
