The guys at Freddy's made sure we all had the right fit and we were all set for our ride. It was easy to follow the trail along the river and the views were gorgeous. Definitely stop at the Farm Cafe near the Convent! The bike trails around the city are well maintained and the bike lanes on the city streets are well marked. A great biking city! I spent a month in Melbourne and this was one of my favorite activities. Great way to see a lot in just a couple of hours!

I was planning on simply renting a bike and touring around on my own, but I'm so glad Freddy's came up on my search. Freddy's offers three things together that I absolutely love: being active, history and food. On top of that, you're getting humour and great company too. The four hour tour was about $50 and includes the bike and helmet rental. The historical component was comprehensive, you learn about the Indigenous origins, first settlers and ongoing immigration, historical context, architecture, graffiti alley, culture, sport and more than I could continue to list. Freddy himself is very knowledgable, humorous, and downright likeable. He's an extremely gifted storyteller and you're not only gaining information, but he also effectively relayed the significance and even quirks of each spot we covered. Altogether, you get a great sense of the city from its origins to where it brings us at present day. It's timed very well, and you're given several opportunities to go and explore some spaces on your own for a few minutes at a time (he'll stay and watch the bikes). We ate together as a group at a spot (sorry, forgot the name). It was a wonderful meal and the experience of connecting with other unique individuals added to the experience. Absolutely cannot be missed if you're in town, and it's done at a pace that should be accessible to most. Tips: free water with Yelp check in. He also rents the bikes for individual use. Easy to use 5 speed (I believe) bikes.

This tour is fun, and a great way to see Melbourne. We arrived in Melbourne and scheduled this tour as our first activity. We scheduled our tour at the last minute, and Rentabike was sold out with private tours. Bryan, who was an awesome tour guide, offered an early morning tour and we accepted. The tour is a full four hours, primarily flat, but there are some moderate hills. The bike were as advertised - comfortable 21 speed bikes ( you will NOT need all of the gears!) with a water holder. Bryan offered plenty of water. We toured every major section of the city and Bryan explained every section in detail in relationship to the main city (downtown). We visited all of the sports venues, main shopping areas, many pubs and restaurants, most of which we have since visited for lunch, dinner or a drink. A hidden and important additional value of the tour is orientation. We have used public transportation and/or walked the entire city visiting attractions, and the tour provided invaluable orientation that helped us navigate the city. To break up the tour, we stopped for coffee and cakes, and later we stopped for lunch. We had lunch on the campus of the University of Melbourne which was awesome! After the tour, Bryan provided a map of the city and highlighted our tour route. The bike shop offers discounts for renting the bike on another day. You may keep the bike after the tour also. If you are visiting Melbourne, this tour is worth the time and money. Bring cash for the tour, the bike shop did not accept credit cards the day we toured. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g255100-d2281661-r534465565-Rentabike_Tours-Melbourne_Victoria.html#

BikeNow was Great! They replied quickly to our emails because we emailed a few bike hire places from our cruise ship a few days before our arrival into Melbourne, Australia and BikeNow was the only shop to respond immediately. Within 1 hour of entering their shop, the staff had our 2 aluminum road bikes ready to go with the right sizing, helmets, bike bags with emergency supplies, and bike locks along with a couple of maps of downtown Melbourne for a total of $35 per person. One of the guys even spent extra time with my husband explaining the "highlights" of Melbourne city - talk about going above and beyond bike duty! Great bikes with responsible people. Thank you BikeNow for being behind our wonderful trip to Melbourne, Australia!

Utterly impressive service and their product range backs it up, this must go hand in hand and it leads to the store being a perfect one stop shop. Both myself and my wife got bikes on the same day, each of us with very different needs and aims with cycling. She got a flat bar road bike (Vida Carbon 2014) which was aimed at a more introductory mark with potential to develop, and I bought a high end road bike (Tarmac SL4) that is an upgrade on my Giant TCR. Fantastic bikes and we're both extremely happy. Kitted out, and the fitting of bike to body position was excellent. Good work Bike Now.
