The great Western Hotel looks like a typical Geelong hotel. I had no great expectations about the food or wine, however both are consistently great. I now frequently find myself dropping in for a casual meal when in the city by the bay.
The side of Caser is really quite good. Plenty of salty anchovies and crunchy croutons to make each bite perfect. The burrito consists of slow cooked pulled beef, no mince meat chilli con carne here. The steak, always cooked to perfection.
There are quite a few good local reds and whites on the wine menu too. If in doubt, the Pepper Jack Shiraz is a trusty staple too. read more
