Staff was also super friendly and helpful :) There are a variety of rentals to choose from, not just surf boards. They have skim boards, paddle boards, bikes and even wet suits! All at a reasonable price. Me and my husband rented a skim board one day, which was $20 for 24hrs and a surf board the next, which was $25 for 24 hours. Inside the store you will find a variety of clothing, shoes, sandals, sunglasses, bags and my favorite....carver decks for all the long boarders out there. Private surf lessons are available, along with paddle board tours and lessons. Overall this a great place to check out whether you are a beginner or expert and looking for a good place to rent while on vacation. I searched for options and found that the Sail Shop offered two hour sails for $75 per person (which is a standard going rate for that type of sail). When I called the shop to ask about the sail, the staff was extremely friendly and answered all of my questions. When there was questionable weather forecasted for the day we had scheduled, they called to ask if we minded switching to a day later which was fine with us. I'd rather sail on a day when the weather is best for it. And the weather did cooperate. It was a stunningly beautiful day to be out on the river. You check in at the Sail Shop, fill out a waiver and are on your way. The boat is comfortable and fairly spacious. If you are interested, the instructor will let you do some of the steering and other required tasks on the boat. Our instructor was extremely friendly and personable and also very knowledable about the area. Our sail was one of our favorite things we did while vacationing at Bald Head.

Although I was very seriously thinking on getting a new surf board, I held myself back and purchased a skim board for my granddaughter. Logan was great in assisting us in finding the right board. He was knowledgeable on the skim boards and sized up the right board to my granddaughters height and weight. I spent more than I wanted too , but getting a better skim board meant better success. She skim boarded on our last vacation together in the Outer Banks. She went out everyday and eventually learned how to skim board. My reasoning for getting her a good one. Back to Bert's , easy access to, plenty of parking, anything you want in surfing , skateboarding , swim wear, accessories and more are here. Great staff on hand and ready to engage in their surf adventures. Be sure to ask them . oh yes , I did buy a T- Shirt.
