This was a mediocre place. Didn't find much of anything of interest. They do have LOTS of surf boards.

This was an amazing surf shop!! Very cool merchandise for everyone. They had amazing deals and quality products. And the staff was so incredibly welcoming and friendly. Other places we went in Carolina Beach the employees were rude but literally every single employee at this shop was so kind and welcoming and friendly. As soon as we walked in they asked if we needed any assistance and were so pleasant to work with and shared some cool stories from their local surf spots. I will definitely be going back when I return to Carolina Beach. read more

I went today just to look around and ended up getting a swimsuit and a tshirt. When I walked in I was not greeted or asked if I needed help, there were 2-3 girls gossiping about someone they knew and their relationship. When I checked out they were very short, I asked if I could bring the items back and was told I could. When I went back to return my items they told me they couldn't be returned for anything other than store credit. Had I have known that I would not have bought the items at all. I used to love this store but I will not be shopping there any longer. read more

I LOVE a good surf shop. I always stop when I'm at the beach. We went 2x during our trip. I unfortunately didn't leave with anything (by choice) but my family did. They had great merch, a lot to choose from and nice people. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

Okay, the dude who gave this place one star because he didn't pay attention to the return policy is doing a massive disservice to this place. CB Surf Shop carries a fantastic selection of clothing inspired by the surf life as well as surf gear. The women's section especially blew me away - a really awesome collections of clothing and accessories that had me drooling ever so slightly and wanting to chuck my whole wardrobe and replace it right there on the spot. Rather than carrying rackfuls of utter, utter crap as some large chain stores on the island seem wont to do (really, tourists, is that what you want? I didnt' think so. Quit shopping there), CB Surf Shop's got some swagger and cares about quality. Four stars - with room to grow! read more

Don't buy more than a sticker w/o reading store policy. You can get a refund on NOTHING. It's store credit no matter what the reason for the return, and on half the stock, once you walk out with it, they won't take it back at all. None of this policy is noticeable if you're not looking for it. Read the little sign with the 10-point type by the register, as the only other place it appears is on the receipt...but by then you already bought it, didn't you? Don't support businesses that hide their policies. They may have reason for doing what they do, but if it impacts every purchase in such a way and they don't make it clear, they're hiding it for some reason. Buyer beware! This place is far from the one star ratings it has received in the past. CB surf shop is a fantastic place for EVERYONE to shop. There are tons of items to choose from such as a fantastic selection of women's, men's, and children's apparel and accessories. They also have an entire sandal and flip flop ROOM. How many other places have that?? They also have some great surfboards and really everything you'd ever need to surf. Along with everything else, they have TONS of adorable sunglasses and watches that are absolutely perfect. Everything is super super cute and trendy. I come here every time I'm in the area because everything in the shop is simply fabulous. I have bought bags and sunglasses and swim suits and all sorts of things from the shop and well enjoyed every single thing. The people who work their are also awesome at helping you with whatever you need. Jenny helped me to find an absolutely PERFECT bikini top recently by giving great advice and honest suggestions which is really helpful when you're either clueless or can't decide. The return policy is also clearly posted in several places in the store as well as on the receipt. Their return policy is also how it is due to NC laws as well as the owners protecting the business. If you're in the Carolina Beach area, you'd be crazy not to stop by CB surf shop and at least walk through. I can promise that once you start looking around, you won't want to leave empty handed! read more

I prefer to shop local, and I've loved shopping here the last 2 days. I had questions about bathing suits for surfing, in case my boyfriend can ever talk me into trying it out, and Erica was super helpful in showing me what would work and steering me away from things that would lead to wardrobe malfunctions. I ended up buying one of those tops, and then came back today for a skirt I couldn't get off my mind. The clothes are an awesome selection of major brands, up-and-coming, and made in USA. I love the selection of jewelry, especially the locally made stuff. The staff is super cool and helpful too! I don't know what kind of stick the guy with the 1 star review had up his butt. A no return policy at a surf shop makes 100% sense. No one wants to buy potentially worn swimsuits or wetsuits, and I think that policy helps prevent that. I'm already looking forward to shopping here the next time I'm down here! read more

Steven was super helpful and attentive when I came in knowing (essentially) nothing about the board I had found recently. Helped me figure everything out and gave me lots of great advice. Their no return policy was printed a little larger at this point behind the register, so, besides that, which could be an inconvenience, it was a great visit. read more

As a local my whole life I find the quality of the clothing as well as the prices reasonable. If you check any other high end "true" surf shop they go above and beyond in their selection. The quality of service leaves much to be desired. As a local I personally never expect anything more than a friendly atmosphere but the employees do lack. When your phone is more important than a potential sale I must say some work can be done. Aside from the staff I give this place two thumbs up. read more

I ran into the same problem.... Bought a wetsuit for my kid and decided to return it because I found a thicker one at another shop. Despite only having it in my hands a couple of hours, tags still attached... I was informed of the "No Refund" policy.... The young store manager, with his condescending tone said "it's right there on your receipt....didn't you read it before you signed it ?".... I said that nobody looks for a policy on a receipt to which he replied.... "There's our policy printed right over there" pointing to a small sign 3 feet away from the register which I pointed out would not be readily seen by many customers. I said it would be more effective if the customer was verbally informed to ensure that there was no misunderstanding a return policy which is rarely heard of in this day and age. He shrugged and just said " that's our policy....can't do anything for you". He went on to say that the state of NC does not allow them to accept returns of eyewear and other items for hygienic reasons. Eventually they offered that I could get a store credit for other items. I asked if I returned it for store credit, would they assure that they would not return it to the rack for "hygienic reasons" . No reply..... Their logic was busted. Will NEVER shop there again.... Felt totally disrespected. Good thing they have a large transient customer base. Would never survive otherwise as the locals have wised up. read more

Second year in a row that we received terrible customer service from a sales associate walking around bare foot (ok its a surf shop so that's expected), blonde girl who was very curt, did not smile, was not helpful and rolled her eyes while we walked away .....nice! ....Last year I went into the store because the first time (3 yrs ago) we received really good service and spent $150. But, when I entered the second year, I was not greeted because the two sales girls were too busy discussing when they would take their lunch break....I won't be back. My nephew shops there twice a year for the last four years and spends about $250 a visit...........I'm going to encourage him to not shop there again... read more

A group of friends and I popped into cb surf shop this weekend after a trip from ft fisher nc, we all broke off individually to par rouse their selection. Maybe it was the unbelievable sales, quality of product, and variety. I recommend this shop for all those who consider themselves a surfer, outdoorsman, or a man of style.
