We were shark fishing for the weekend and stopped here to grab some cigars. They have a small selection, but better than nothing. Mostly, it's a head shop with related stuff like clothes, bumper stickers, and such. I didn't interact with any of the employees, but what I saw was that they were polite to those they were helping. I used to love going into this place. Ever since Zach and Tyler have left it's gone way downhill fast!!!!! They NEVER have anything!!!!!! The answer is always "it's ordered it's just not came in" or " they have ordered it, should be here soon". They also no longer have any pre rolls or gummies. They claim they aren't allowed to sell it but every other smoke shop around here does. If they have a popular item that everyone wants you better know that it won't be in stock half the time you go in there. How do you keep customers if you don't keep what they want in stock and then have the employees tell you "the owners don't care about keeping it in stock". I have not been in that store for months because they just never have anything. I decided today well let's give them another shot. As soon as I walk in I get the "it's on its way" song and dance. Nothing is more aggravating and disappointing than when you're visiting an area and look up certain places for whatever needs, you make sure to check operating hours multiple times, only to pull up to the establishment and find the business to be closed 45 mins BEFORE their posted closing time. This was my first experience with Amsterdam Life. If they're working diff hours during the off-season, then PLEASE post those hours EVERYWHERE. Now I'm nicing! read more

Love coming here, came by yesterday and today to browse and do a little shopping. Was greeted immediately by Dj who was incredibly welcoming, charismatic and had a great vibe overall. He was very helpful in finding what I needed, seeing if stuff was for me or not and took his time to help. Was here for about 30 minutes and it wasn't crazy busy, very relaxed environment too. I used to love this place i came there to get my vapes and ect. Today i went in the store to buy some terp marbles for my setup. i never go the mans name but hes older maybe early 30's, mind you i bought the rig 2 days ago and i had lost the bottom ball so i went to get a new one. he said that they didnt sell the marbles unless they were in the terp slerper, which i bought separately 2 DAYS AGO, then we i asked how much the set up was(because i cant not have the marble) and he said it was 30$!!!!!almost 13$ more than what i bought it for 2 days ago!! i dont know who that man thinks he is charging people what he wants and keeping the money but thats not how A STORE BRAND WORKS!! if i could talk to the manger i would but he wasnt in the store!! read more

I had an extremely well informed young man patiently wait on me and answer all of my questions. And I had a lot of questions. He was able to direct me to what I ACTUALLY needed vs what I THOUGHT I needed based on my limited knowledge. I would have made a mistake and wasted money had he not spent time going over different products and verifying what my needs were. Several people came in while he was helping me and he was able to inform them of new products, ring them up, answer their questions, again all while still helping me. He kept the customer flow going seamlessly. Some were repeat customers and you could tell they were coming there for not only the products, but for the exceptional customer service. I have owned and/or managed several businesses over the years, and I was impressed. It's nice to have a shop on Oak Island that checks all the boxes from a consumer point of view. I am 23 years old and my boyfriend is almost 21. We went in seeking to purchase multiple items and it was our first time in the store although I'm a local to the island for the past 7 years. It's 6 blocks from my home. The woman who seemed to be the manager rudely asked for our IDs but we obliged no problem. I'm well aware of the rules in smoke shops. She held my ID for almost 2 minutes then finally gave it back and held my boyfriends for 3 minutes and was talking to another employee about accepting us right in front of us. Our IDs are valid, legal and North Carolina. Finally I just said we will leave she smiled for the first time and said have a great night sarcastically.
