Beware the ride ticket scams. The rides overcharge your wristband one ticket at times, forcing you to buy more. What a joke

I got my ticket for the wrong day, 29th, not 31st, and they were so kind to let me in still!!! I almost cried when I realized I ordered the wrong ticket. The staff is amazing and kind. All the people in staff coats were welcoming. The whole community is kinda like that. I hit up all the stages, and the back stage with the square lights was my favorite, for edm music. The tent was also cool. Main stage was too main line music for my taste. The food, go to the pizza place. That's the best place there. They really understand the culture and are the kindest, tastiest food place!! Other things to note, battery pack for cell phones, also you won't have service due to how many people are there. Battery pack is needed for photos! I missed pics of the rainbow igloo! Everything's paid credit card, and you can check in and out with your wristband by tapping on the screen at the exit. I highly recommend this place!

NO HEATERS !!!! no on-site meet and greet with artists, no daily food tasting of on-site vendors, only VIP amenity we got was access to was VIP bathrooms and the bar after 7pm..which wasn't anything big since bathrooms and bars around the venue were pretty clear since attendees on day 1 were very limited. Day 2: express VIP enterance did not exist. GA line covered entire enterance making it difficult to go through. There was no security and no snowglobe employee to delegate the chaos. outside heaters installed but indoor heaters were not installed until after 7pm offered food tasting but not from on-site vendor. served plain Mac and cheese and some sort of sweet potato dish with corn flakes. I didn't see any vendors offering these items on the first or second day of the festival. it was pretty gross. no meet and greet with artist still feeling ripped off from day 1 and day 2. Day 3: arrived late to avoid lines to enterance heaters inside finally installed and working, however outdoor heaters failing - need more fuel and no one refilled them for entire day. snowglobe attempt to compensate horrible experience with fanny pack survival kit. it looked cool but I personally didn't need a fanny pack or anything inside of it (since I brought my own lighter, chap stick, tissues, gloves, etc. with me already. all I really wanted were the things I was promised when purchasing a VIP ticket! I am a veteran music festival attendee, and I've never experience such a disorganized and terrible lack of planning. I seriously want my money back! this is not okay.

If you live in the south end of Reno, you're lucky to have the opportunity to choose between Reno's great Midtown and downtown area and almost the same drive away the charm of the capital city. I was recently in Karsen for the murals and music festival and had an absolute blast. Seeing how public art is transformed the city and how it's put the city on the map internationally as well. Almost every business is adorned with some type of creation that speaks to a theme or storyline from the owner or artist or one that merges the two. Carson City is always hosting amazing events thanks to their great tourism board the team at the Brewery art center and everyone investing in that community. Each year Carson City becomes more and more the place to be and I love seeing it. If you haven't been in a while, make a trip! Maybe stay a night too!

Carson City Fair - Saturday, August 1, 2015: corn dog eating contest contestants.

I went to this fair on Friday, August 1, 2015 at Fuji Park (it is also known as the Carson City…read moreFairgrounds, but it really isn't much of a fairgrounds, other than their one building, called the Exhibit Hall). The fair was then known as the Nevada Fair. The state fair had occurred for many years, but not happened recently, and this organization was trying to revive the tradition. They recruited a veteran fair organizer from California and planned to grow each year. For some reason, they stopped this in the next year or two and decided to do just this local Carson City fair. It is held during the last weekend in July. Now, this fair is not be confused with the Nevada State Fair which is held each June at Mills Park on E. William Street. I have never been to that one. I guess there was competition at that time for who could hold the state fair. I don't know if either one was the official state fair, or if there is even such a thing. I had come to this fair specifically for their inaugural corn dog eating contest. It left a lot to be desired. It was hard to get information about it. They announced right before the contest the first 10 people who got to the announcer could sign up, which was bad, since people like me had been waiting for hours to sign up and could have potentially been shut out. It was more of a foot race to see who get get to the sign up area the fastest, sort of like for Black Friday loss leaders at retail stores, which are dangerous. For the contest itself, 10 people were lined up on the ground in front of stage, facing the crowd, with no table of their own, and contestants had to hold two corn dogs in their hands. The fastest two won, and the prizes were just ribbons. The judges were not trained on when a contestant was deemed finished, so it was like a crap shoot. Normally, eating contests are 5-12 minutes, with more of the contest food; and a table is put up in front of the contestants, so their food and corn dog sticks can be placed there. Chairs are often provided. Water and cups are provided too. And there usually is an emcee. Apparently, they didn't know what they were doing when they set this up. They said at the end they were going to expand it to make it bigger and better, but that never happened, as this was the first and only time they had the contest. There was also supposed to be a watermelon eating contest, but they canceled that, but didn't change the schedule at all, including online, so people were left confused. There were also mistakes in the literature, like phone numbers. And parking was also messed up. The lot right by the Exhibition Hall was reserved for people with handicapped parking placards or licenses, but the organizers failed to tell the attendants that, and they refused to let me in. There was also limited street parking. They did arrange for people to park at Casino Fandango on S. Carson Street and a free Carson City JAC shuttle bus transported them back and forth. (Casino Fandango also provided them with free swag bags.) But many people just parked across the street at Costco (illegally) since they were lazy and/or stupid and/or entitled. They need to fix that, as people are always going to try doing that. I am not sure how. I am surprised Costco did not complain. Now they provide parking at the nearby Clear Creek Plaza on Topsy Drive where Walmart is. Overall, despite the first-time mistakes, this was a good fair for a small town. Parking and admission were free. They had a small midway, bounce house, food, local vendors, non-profit exhibits, beer garden, main stage with bands, farm animals, and plenty of contests, including for children, like a cookie stacking contest and peanut butter and jelly sandwich making contest. If you needed to cool off, you could sit in the air conditioned Exhibit Hall and use their real rest rooms. I might stop by this year or in the future to see if it has gotten better. It will be held next from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28, 2019.

We were entertained for two hours with camel, ostrich, emu, zebra and duck racing with audience participated games in between. Tickets at the door ($30 per adult) were slightly more than if pre-purchased online. VIP and the upgraded shaded area were sold out so we had no choice but to get the bleachers, which was ok because it was high 70s with a breeze. Can't imagine getting through that if it was hotter though! VIP was under a tent, but it didn't look like they had a great view (round tables set up on a square, flat area) unless you were seated in the front by the racetrack. They had food vendors set up with the biggest corndogs I've ever seen, shaved ice, beer, cheesesteak, ice cream etc. It was nice that none of the lines were super long. It's a no-brainer. It was $55 but you get a lunch ticket worth $15 for any of the food trucks. I had the largest tastiest smoked pastrami sandwich ever!!!. You also get 2 drink tickets for a value up to $10 each so basically you are spending $20 on the "seat" which is the same price as the general admission which is baking in the sun. It was 93 degrees at noon today. Also the VIP gives you shaded bleacher seating and a tent with air and private bar. Again, general admission is in full sun on aluminum bleachers. It's also worth splurging for the $20 Upper Reserved Parking. We walked right in and right out. No shuttles needed. The camel rides are very quick and $20 but they use your phone to take pictures and it was still worth it to me to rub my fingers in the soft pelt of the camel. What I didn't like about how they managed the rides is I waited in line and was the next person and then all these sponsors/all access folks showed in batches and literally 12 people got to cut in front of me. It was frustrating to go from being "next" to 4 people showing up, then 3 more, then 4 more and continuously being pushed back. I bantered with the attendant who was sweet but I'm not gonna lie, that just wasn't cool. They should let a few sponsors/all access ride then a few who have been patiently waiting and then filter more sponsors/all access folks in. The gates open 2 hours before but I have to say that was too early. There wasn't enough going on between 8am-9am when they finally brought out the camels to ride. If you do the 10am show (recommend because of the heat alone) I think you are safe getting there at 8:45-9am. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL SHOWTIME. People were having a hard time finding seats because they got there late and the VIP is always sold out.

Every event staff that we encountered was helpful, happy, welcoming, and kind. There was a group of kids (possibly NJROTC) helping out with keeping the areas clean, removing used trays, and helping where needed. They did an awesome job. Most of the tip jars had signs naming a charity that those tips were designated for. There is tons of seating indoors and outdoors. Parking in Tahoe can be pretty dicey. However, the six of us in my group came in 3 separate cars ranging from 10 minutes early to 20 minutes late, and we all found free parking not too far from the event. I corresponded with the event coordinators through the event's Facebook page, and was happy to find that attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drinks, along with blankets and/or low-back chairs. We found a nice spot right up close to the stage and spread out our blanket, surrounded by a growing group of friendly people. We brought some wine and snacks, and settled in waiting for the concert to begin. The act for this evening was the Blues Monsters. My husband and I have seen the Blues Monsters at previous events in Reno and Tahoe including the BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival. They are amazing! They play a nice mixture of original songs and cover songs. The band has great energy, and at one point, the lead vocalist Chuck Dunn even jumped off the stage and mixed and mingled with everyone who was dancing in front of the stage. The crowd was fun, friendly and energetic! The sound quality was great! There are clean bathrooms and food trucks! The location is unbeatable! Who wouldn't want to stake their claim on a patch of sand on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and listen to quality music until the sun goes down? I can't say enough about this event. We are already looking forward to the next concert (Fridays throughout the summer), and our enthusiastic reports are encouraging more of our friends to attend next time. One last note - these concerts are totally free, and you're not stuck buying overpriced food and drinks like you are at most concert venues, so when they come around with the donation bucket, keep that in mind, and lets keep these great events coming back to Kings Beach!

I went here on Saturday, June 1, 2019. It was officially called the "18th Annual Oodles of Noodles…read moreFestival and Pasta Cook-Off" and was run by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center in Dayton, which is located inside Greater Nevada Credit Union in Dayton on US Rt. 50. It is held each year in Old Town Dayton, on Pike Street, between Main Street and Second Avenue. This year it was from 9 AM to 4 PM. They close off Pike Street and parking can be hard if you don't come early, especially since there is no public transportation to Dayton. But don't worry: you will find parking, and it shouldn't be too far to walk. It's a small town festival in an out-of-the-way area, and not many people are aware of it, so it wasn't too busy, even at peak times. There were plenty of events. It started off with a pancake breakfast at 7:30 AM to 10 AM in the community center (old high school) at a cost of $6 for one person or $10 for two. Then there was a pet parade at 10 AM by the Dayton Valley Dog Park, a non-profit that runs the park with not too many dogs (about 10). The chamber hid posters with different forms of pasta all throughout the festival. If you found them all, you could enter the raffle for a 50" flat screen TV. I didn't find any, lol. A kid who found them all told me to look under the festival tables in each tent. Oh well, I will know this for next time, haha! There was an opening welcome by the chamber president with the National Anthem sung, and an entertainment stage in the middle with seating. There was also a pasta cook-off with various vendors submitting noodles to be judged. They sold tickets for tasting, but curiously, I didn't see any tents with pasta cooking. Hmmm. The fun for me was going to the different vendors and getting freebies. My favorite ones were Costco Wholesale from Carson City and the Greater Nevada Credit Union Mobile Branch truck. The Dayton Valley Branch Library and Friends of the Library were here, as well as Office Depot from Carson City, Dayton Valley Volunteer Fire, and Lyon County Sheriff's Office. I got things like a cell phone/ID case, lanyard, cup, phone chargers, mini hair brush, pens, bag clip, band-aid dispenser, and a refrigerator magnet. Some vendors had candy. Some had free raffles. There were also Civil War reenactors here. The highlight was when the soldiers marched to the end of the street and fired off loud rounds from their rifles I also got to visit the historic Dayton Firehouse and Jail, which is a mini museum. Mabel was the docent there from the Historical Society of Dayton Valley and was super pleasant and knowledgeable. I was here for 3.5 hours and had tons of fun. I was exhausted at the end, but it was worth it. The fact that it wasn't super crowded and in a small town made it especially pleasant for me. I plan to go again next year.
