Over a month later, I still hadn't heard back, so I called the store, but didn't get any answer. Two days later, when I'm out of town, the store calls me and says it's "absolutely urgent" that I come by and pick up my bike because it's taking up space in the store. I explained that I was out of town and couldn't pick it up that week, and that this was the first time I was hearing about the bike being finished, even though it had been more than 30 days. The person on the phone said "Oh, they should have called you, it's been done for weeks." The next week, when I'm back in town, I call the store verify the hours and tell them I'm coming to pick up the bike that day. At 3:00p, I stop by, and the store is complete empty -- door's closed and locked, and the lights are off. I call the store number a dozen times, but no answer. I stand outside for 20 minutes before a worker comes from down the street and unlocks the door, and he gives no explanation or apologies for why the store has been closed when I tell him I've been waiting for 20 minutes. When we get inside, he gives me the bike (which, I admit, was very nicely done), and when I go to pay, he can't find the ticket to ring me up -- it takes another five minutes to go into the back to dig around before he finds the ticket and I can pay. TLDR: While the bike tune up was good, the customer service experience was atrocious. Would not recommend Bicycle Ambulance when there are many other options around.

I expected better than what I got: malpractice and abuse. I brought two bikes in for repair. One had a suspected front wheel issue I flagged as uncertain. The shop quoted one bike, never quoted or explained work on the other, then went unreachable and closed during posted hours (including a day I was told they'd be open). My bikes sat there for 7 days. I was charged $230, including unexplained work on the second bike. I paid without argument. Immediately after leaving, I found that bike's actual problem was still unfixed. When I brought it back, the owner looked at it for ten seconds and admitted it was the back wheel, not the front. When I asked why she hadn't caught this in seven days, she said it wasn't her job to look beyond what I'd pointed to, and offered to fix it for an extra fee. When I calmly pushed back on that logic, she told me I had "an attitude" and to leave her store. I responded that relying on her expertise wasn't an attitude. She then screamed at me, hurled a sexist slur and repeated profanity at me, and demanded I get out of her store. She grabbed a bike rack to physically block the entrance and shoo me out, and kicked dirt and twigs at me and my sweet mother standing outside, as she slammed the door, locking another customer inside the store with her in the process. This isn't a bad day, it's a pattern. Check the other reviews, including her own replies calling customers "entitled liars." Take your bike anywhere else on the Westside, anyone else will have the sense to appreciate your business and treat you with respect.

My experience mirrors many of the other one-star reviews, particularly regarding their outrageous "no refunds" policy. The key difference in my case is that they sold me a bike they didn't even have. I was told it would arrive "sometime in the next month or so," with no firm delivery date or timeline. Rather than taking a deposit, they insisted I pay the full purchase price upfront for a bike that wasn't in stock and wasn't even in their possession. Given that I'm 6'6", I specifically asked whether I could try the bike once it arrived before making a final decision. They assured me that would be "no problem," which gave me confidence that I wasn't taking on unnecessary risk. A few days later, I realized how unreasonable the arrangement was. I had paid thousands of dollars in full for a product they didn't have and couldn't tell me when they would receive. I called and requested a refund. They flatly refused at first. What followed was an exhausting exchange of roughly 15 to 20 emails that started out cordial but eventually became increasingly hostile.
