I came prepared to spend time exploring this shop and making a few purchases. Now, the reason why I gave a 1 star review. Not sure who their target demographic is, but the impression I got from my first visit to this antique shop is that I am NOT that person. I was not welcomed when I came in. I figured she was busy. As I continued to explore the store, I overheard the shop keeper welcome and make small talk with every person who came in. (Of note they were older and white). After hearing this multiple times I put away what I was planning to buy (some old post cards and books) and left. I am very disappointed by my experience. Is it possible that this lady wasn't judging me? Sure! However, she gave me this impression and therefore I will never be visiting this establishment and will telling everyone I know not to do so as well. Antiquing is a passion of mine and knowing that there is a beautiful shop so close to where I live due to poor behavior, makes me sad. If you (look rich) and are white, congrats, you will receive red carpet treatment. If you look not rich, even though you actually do well (physician in my case) or are not white, this is not the shop for you! Luckily there are plenty of great places for me to spend money!

(These two REALLY understand customer service and how important photography and social media are to the 30-something set) We had a lovely dialogue about how vintage fashion is one of the most delightful interests one could have because it tells so many stories! They offered to watch my friend's dog as we perused the amazing goodies, and even gave us cookies while we were trying on outfits. Vintage Xmas ornaments? Got them. Vintage purses? Got them. Glassware of all eras and designs? Yep! One tip to this store is make sure you get to their basement. Items tend to be reduced or are garage sale finds that may not be that old but that are worth buying. I frequently find leather travel frames and interesting mirrors and boxes in the basement. Parking is plentiful with meters and there are other antique stores on both sides of the street.

Be careful going up, the stairs are tall and steep, and the ceiling beams are low. There is a smell (cat pee?) in the house in a couple places, so I'm glad the doors and windows were open. I found a nice glass cake plate and cotton table cloth, both for total of $15. Prices are reasonable, but ask if you see something without a price, definitely ask. Glad we stopped in.

They specialize in 17th-19th century antiques. Additionally, Tom and Diana work with local artists too. Every nook and cranny of the store is filled with awesome antiques and folk art pieces. My mom and I stopped by Chagrin Valley Antiques in search of fall decorations. I was enchanted by the numerous fall guords. My favorite was the headless pumpkin guord, reminding me of Ichabod Crane. He came in two sizes for $58 or $105. When we have bought guords in the past from Tom & Diana, they last for many, many years. On this shopping trip, we found a fall leave wreath for our front door for $38. You can feel Tom and Diana's love of Americana throughout the store. You cannot find this American art and craftsmanship anywhere else!

It became so popular that they opened a storefront in Parma in June. How did I just find it in October?! I'm happy that Vintage Clambake (!) brought me to this store! AMBIANCE: Imagine getting into a Time Machine and traveling to the 80's. That's exactly how this place feels. No other local vintage store has the rooms setup so much to a certain time period. I'm referring specifically to their funky living room area. It's so gorgeous and timeless! Think vibrant, funky, and picture worthy. INVENTORY: Inside the store you'll find multiple rooms - front area with furniture and shelves, living room home goods area, a room to the side with clothing, and back warehouse looking space with a mix of everything. The store has it all - furniture, home goods, accessories, clothing, and decor. The inventory is very organized, some decor is even organized by color. Inventory is generally well priced considering the pristine condition and uniqueness. MY FIND: While I visit many vintage stores, I really only buy true treasures. I found a purse in phenomenal conditions with a built in clock. It was $45 but really I'd probably pay double, it was that good. How amazing is that? Without a doubt, Silver Eagle was the best discovery of the day. Definitely better than the Oktoberfest itself, but that's another story. Like so many antique shops; it's packed from floor to ceiling, musty-smelling, and filled with little nooks and crannies that house the most interesting things. There are several rooms, and we easily got lost for a couple of hours looking at all the cool, old treasures. They have a huge collection of local memorabilia from Akron and the surrounding areas. There are also lots of old postcards, appliance ads from the 30s - 60s (hello, Mad Men!), and LIFE magazines which were really fun to read! My favourite discovery was all of the old photographs -- they were really, really lovely. The owner seemed a little crochety, but he kept to himself. I found so many cool things in here that I wanted, but didn't have any cash on me -- I'm definitely going to have to come back.

If you collect bottles this place is your holy grail. The owner was once a huge bottle collector and knows a lot about Akron's dairy history. I love a vintage store with an owner full of knowledge. There's a pretty solid vintage appliance collection, baseball memorabilia, civil war relics, native american arrowheads, art, costume jewelry, old photographs, barn tools, antique metal toys, and even furniture (good luck getting it out).
