When you need a dependable local business, don't call Clinton Floral…read more I placed a same-day order with Clinton Floral after an unexpected family death. I received an order confirmation and saw a pending charge on my card, so I assumed everything was fine. A week later, I found out the recipients never received anything. When I called the shop to ask what happened, the call was answered unprofessionally with a curt "Hello?" and silence. Once I confirmed I had the right business and provided order details, I was met with rudeness and a condescending tone. They claimed there was a payment issue--despite the pending charge on my card--and said they tried to contact me. I received no email, no call, nothing. Their failure to follow up meant the grieving family never received the intended support, and the owner's dismissive, unprofessional attitude made it worse. Even if payment issues arise, basic communication and courtesy are non-negotiable. Sadly, Clinton Floral seems to operate as if being the only local option gives them a pass on professionalism. It doesn't. I won't be using them again--and I'd strongly recommend you don't either.

After visiting for estimate it was determined that drainage had to be installed and the foundation needed repair. Took a few months to get the job going due to lack of communication and landscaping did not get done until November. We had no issue with the drainage or landscaping. For an extra $1100 we decided to have a gray tint and finish to the walkway. Cost of walkway was $2675. As soon as finish was applied to walkway it bubble. We asked that it be addressed but noting was done since it was already November and was told they had to have warmer days to fix. When spring 2020 rolled around we called again asking it be stripped and redone and Mike finally came out to look. Of course in Mikes eyes they did nothing wrong and he likes to use big words to make you feel stupid. He eventually sent someone out to add a 2nd coat over the already bubbled finish and it just got worse. My husband asked the worker to have Mike come back stop look and advised again we wAnted it stripped and redone and no response. A year later the finish is almost completely off because the bubbles have burst leaving the exposed non finished concrete. We even noticed that the crack in the foundation is back. After spending almost $15,000 on this project in which $6500 was for the walk and foundation repair, we are forced to contract another company to fix this mess. It's now to the point where people ask us what's wrong with the walkway. At this point Mike has made it clear that he would not fix this and I do not trust him to do it correct. I just want other consumers to know what type of service you will pay for. As I mentioned my issue is only with Mike and the concrete service. The landscaping part looks beautiful.

We rolled into Le Claire, IA recently on a cross country road trip. We naturally stopped into the…read moreAmerican Archeology shop and then headed on foot down Cody Rd to visit the other antique shops in town to see what they had to offer. There were several in town on this main drag. Our research had indicated that Big River Antiques was the place to visit if you want to shop for a diverse selection of antiques. The shop is run by some semi-retired hippies that are some great long time pickers. They have a good eye and bring a good mix of antiques into the shop. Word has it that even Mike Wolfe pops in there to buy when he's in town; We found the shop packed to the brim - floor to ceiling with antique treasures of all types packed and stacked everywhere. The shelves in the main room were packed so tight that it made it challenging to pull something out from the back of the shelf without creating a collectible avalanche. The lower shelves are deep and dark and I should have brought my pickin' light so I could see all the way into the back of the dark deep shelves. There are plenty of old metal advertising signs available in the shop. Lots of of old stoneware, some art pottery, salt and pepper shakers, glassware, jewelry, old oil paintings, prints, frames, lamps, tins, primitives and everything in between. It was a fun shop with so much antique eye candy everywhere that it took lots of time and patience to see it all. The smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies was refreshing as we shopped and they were indeed delicious. We enjoyed our visit to this shop and Le Claire, IA and will explore it again if we make it back into town. Definitely stop into the Buffalo Bill Cody museum while you are in town which is nearby. it was an interesting museum filled with much history and antiques.
