Let me just start by saying that 5 stars are not nearly enough! My mom wanted to celebrate her birthday in Taos with her closest friends and my sister and I wanted to throw her a special dinner to celebrate. We came across Chef Kualani's page and I am endlessly grateful that we did because the entire process could not have been more perfect. From the very beginning, Kualani was incredibly warm, communicative, and endlessly accommodating. She was open to any requests we had but also came up with the most unbelievable seasonal menu for the dinner (because I had no idea where to start). Dealing with her was a pleasure each and every time and she helped me go through all the details so that nothing was forgotten. And the dinner.... THE DINNER. The food was absolutely incredible. I'm still thinking about her spring pea soup with truffle oil. Every course was fantastic. But Kualani is not just a chef, she is a true hostess. She and her partner Richard came into our AirBnb and handled literally EVERYTHING. She brought beautiful plates and flatware so we didn't have to rely on the AirBnb's stash. She decorated the table. She even made my niece a grilled cheese sandwich while she was prepping. And then, at the end of one of the best meals of my life, they cleaned everything up and left the kitchen better than they found it. Having worked in restaurants and catering for many years, I know first-hand that chefs are not always hospitable. It is a completely different skill set and it's the reason restaurants need a front-of-house staff. But Kualani is the rare exception that is truly capable of curating a perfect evening. She has the most amazing energy and could not have been happier with our entire experience. The dinner absolutely made my mother's birthday and I cannot recommend her highly enough. read more

History

Established in 2021.

My 30-year career includes working in Michelin-starred kitchens in New York City and a lengthy background as a private chef for ultra-high-net-worth clients in NYC and San Francisco. Netzero Ranch was born during COVID in 2021, when we decided to move to a remote ranch in the mountains of New Mexico. I launched a simple website for my catering services, starting with intimate, zero-waste weddings, and I earned five-star Google reviews from every event. Today, we operate from our Taos kitchen (shared with Mood Bake, our specialty cake bakery run by my executive chefs). We host only 20 exclusive events per year — prioritizing quality, personalization, and planetary healing over volume.

I’m Kualani Kennedy, founder and head chef of Netz Zero Ranch. A Culinary Institute of America graduate, I spent 30 years in NYC and San Francisco’s high-end private chef world before relocating to New Mexico and purchasing a small ranch in the mountains. I partner directly with local ranches and farmers who practice regenerative ranching. Along with my executive chefs and catering captain, we create exceptional experiences. At Net Zero Ranch, we deliver elevated, sustainable events that stand out because we refuse to compromise — on flavor, on the planet, or on the intimate connection with every Client.

I had the pleasure of experiencing Netzero Ranch's delicious food at a gallery event in Santa Fe. Everything was so fresh and creative with lots of amazing flavors. The smoked beef tenderloin was so tender on the focaccia bites and the tangy horseradish cream enhanced the flavor without being too rich or overbearing. The osetra caviar had such a nice subtle taste and it was so cool to have them on little potatoes. The chocolate ganache cake bites with fresh raspberries on top were so delightful. They weren't too sweet and were light and fluffy. In addition, they were vegan and gluten free so I was able to take a couple home to my wife who has dietary restrictions and she was blown away. A few bachelor friends and I were at a wedding in Santa Fe, and NETZERO Ranch was the caterer. Wow! Their food is so delicious, everything was fresh and organic. Every dish was better than the next. We all overate LOL. The vibe from head chef Kualani and the rest of her staff was also fantastic; everyone on the team was friendly, kind, and great to be around. We all said that the meal was the best we have ever had at a wedding, and possibly the best we've ever had anywhere. I would highly recommend hiring this Caterer. Amazed at how even the most down to earth dishes are elevated in such a tasteful (elegant AND delicious) way. Absolutely love the commitment to low waste and locally sourced ingredients.
