I started working with Karen (Net Ingenuity) in October 2012. I have a nonprofit website that I wanted to be accessible by multiple browsers, have a blog site and be downloadable on e-readers. After explaining my requirements to Karen, she indicated that with approximately 10 hours work effort she would create a website format that multiple browsers could access and would populate one page complete with content. She would then teach me how to enter the content for the other pages. I paid her the requested retainer fee (five hours worth of work) for her to begin and then paid for another 5.5 hours based on an invoice she sent to me. After more than 30 days with nothing produced and unanswered e-mails and phone calls I realized Karen was either unwilling or incapable of providing the services she indicated she would in her original e-mail to me. In addition, she billed me for her time to learn how to use a plug-in in WordPress (a product she selected) and for the time she spent answering my phone calls asking for a project status. After several phone conversations and a certified letter she finally agreed to stop work. As goodwill gesture she refunded me for 3.75 hours of money paid. Unfortunately, after months of wasted time and hundreds of dollars, I still don't have any of the improvements to my website and I no longer have sufficient funds to hire someone else to work on my project. I do not believe Karen is capable of meeting the commitments she makes and she appeared to be more focused on generating invoices as opposed to successfully completing the project. read more
