My husband and I got married two years ago and were on the same page for just about everything EXCEPT money. While we had good spending/saving habits (no debt, lived on less than we made). However, things like tracking the budget and deciding what money items were important to our household.... were a mess. I found Julia and Art of Finance from their PBS web series on YouTube, Two Cents and was thrilled to see her vivacious personality and willingness to cut through the BS wasn't just an act for the camera. My husband and I made the financial commitment to sign up for Cash Flow Coaching with Julia and Kara, and while the initial stick price left me questioning, I can say it's the best money we've spent since being married. Art of Finance gave my husband and I a shared language and sense of ownership over our budget and money. They helped to prompt questions and discussions on what we wanted OUR lifestyle and money goals to be as a newly married couple. Because of cashflow coaching, my husband (the nerdy spreadsheets guy) learned to let go of full control of our finances and we were able to work together as a better as a result. And me (the fun person who hates spreadsheets) has learned to take an ownership piece in our finances and use a budgeting software that makes us both feel informed on our money decisions. Regardless of if you're single, newly married, or have been married for years, I would HIGHLY recommend joining up with Art of Finance and making the commitment to get your budget right and stop stressing about your money. P.S. Shout out to Kara who's a tech wiz and fixed all my budget software problems. Even if we hadn't gotten any coaching, she would have been worth the cost of the course herself.

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I have been a loyal customer of Greater Texas Federal Credit Union for over 30 years, and I have never encountered an experience like the one I had on February 21 at your new location on Mopac Expressway. I visited this branch because the location closest to me in Manor is closed on Saturdays. I brought in a cashier's check from Chase Bank made payable to me in the amount of $8,000 to deposit into my account. I did not detach the check from its original attachment until I reached the counter. From the moment I presented the check, I was made to feel as though it was potentially fraudulent. The representative repeatedly questioned whether I had the original attachment, even after I explained that I had just detached it at the counter. She then called over a coworker to assist. When I asked whether there was an issue, I was told that she was "just doing what is expected." I explained that I have deposited cashier's checks at other branches in the past without incident. I was then asked whether those checks were for "this amount," to which I responded yes. I also mentioned that many people are currently depositing income tax refunds, so larger deposits should not be unusual. I was further informed that the funds would not be immediately available. I clarified that I already had sufficient funds in my account and that I was simply making a deposit. Despite this, the interaction left me feeling upset, uncomfortable, and unfairly targeted. After more than three decades as a customer, I was deeply disappointed by the way I was treated. No one should be made to feel as though they are suspected of wrongdoing simply for conducting a routine banking transaction. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to reconsider returning to this location for future transactions. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and addressed. Long-standing members deserve to be treated with professionalism, dignity, and respect.

I submitted the application online, which was accepted, but a couple of days later I received an email notifying me that I needed to apply in person. I went to the Manor Branch and that is when the humiliating experience started with the employee who helped me. I explained that I had opened an account online, to what she said that I needed to start the process again (did not bother to check the online application). I said fine, what do I need to do. she asked me for my ID and some proof of my home address. I presented all the documents they asked for, I was there for almost 45 minutes and during this time the employee went back and forth to the back office, and after 45 minutes I was told they could not open an account because my name was so common and there were too many people with bad credit. I thought it was strange to receive an excuse like that when my credit is very high, I have TSA clearance, and I have worked for the health care industry all my life which requires clearance from the FBI and DOJ and besides I am already a member of a credit union. Anyway I wasted 45 minutes just to be told that I could not open an account.
