I love this low-key community beach. Very nice and well kept. It was not a far walk from the parking lot. We came here during Memorial Weekend, weather was not too bad, it was warm during the day but cold at night. We brought some snacks to enjoy the nice view of the beautiful beach.Great place. I highly recommend to bring a blanket so you can sit on it, instead of big rocks, because we forgot ours. Also bring Oregon canned wine. :)

This is a big and beautiful beach, and it's almost deserted. There is also a ghost forrest here, the fossilized stumps of a 2,000 year old Sitka spruce forrest standing guard in the surf. It is cool and magnificent. I've lived in Oregon my entire life and didn't know it's here. This beach is anchored by the massive and beautiful Proposal Rock. I'm sure a lot of shiny rings have been placed on fingers here. This island is covered with trees and feels like a secret forrest. All in all, this is a stunning place. I highly recommend you pull over for a stroll.

Oh wow. This place is a treasure! Nestled in way past the beach shore, you can set up on the "River" and kids can safely swim and okay and float without parents fearing rip tides. If you come at low tide, you can catch the Ghost Forest. Dogs can be here, families, you've got restrooms nearby (it's a bit of a walk from the water so don't hold it!) But bring your own TP or wipes because by mid day they were totally out. We had a wonderful day here and plan to make it our new beach spot since it's only a 90 minute drive and pure beauty!

We just stayed on the coast nearby this past week. We ventured down to the beach to see the Ghost Forrest on Wednesday morning. It was a foggy day, and Proposal Rock and the Forrest looked extra creepy-cool. It's definitely worth venturing down to when the tides out if you're passing by or staying near. Very neat to see, and a great low key section of the coast to take a morning walk.

Proposal rock.

It was worth the 2 hour drive. Low tide reveals all kinds of sea life and exposure to the tree remains.

Remember, this is Oregon! How remote is it? Well, Neskowin looks almost like Redondo Beach in comparison. I know! Ewww, huh?!?! The saving grace is that unless it's a summer weekend it's just never all that crowded. You can meander north out of the Lilliputian parking lot and reach the Nestucca flowing into the Pacific, that is, unless it's a winter high tide. Then you run the risk of getting trapped on the north side of the group of rocks shown in the attached photo, that is, if you can get through at all. It's a decently long walk (20-30 minutes) up to the Nestucca. The landscape is always undergoing changes due to the Pacific Ocean pounding away, so keep your wits about you. The things you can find on the beach here! Russian shoe polish kits, Japanese whiskey bottles, fishing floats, surf boards ... We've seen more than a few dead critters over the years too, even a cow. Try this walk in a thunder and lightning storm. Try it in the dead of night in winter, just be sure the tide is going OUT.

Sometimes you have a small group of littles and they somehow are fueled by the laughter of other kids and seem to possess unlimited energy. We camp closest to the beach. There is no shade there. We bring our own but at night, the stars are like street lights. It's beautiful. The moon at times feels like you could grab it. The ocean will put you to sleep like a Dr.s prescription. It's amazing. All the bathrooms get used a lot because of the amount of people who stay here but they are constantly being cleaned. The showers are a little strange to me but good. Don't try to park an extra vehicle on your spot even if only unloading. The parking is terrible BUT way down the road, on the "Day Use Area" is plenty of parking. Ya, we all hate parking in the D.U.A. They hold cultural events in the D.U.A. We've seen some awesome Native American dancers. They looked super cool. The beach access is at either end of the dune. The beach is clean and the waves aren't that vicious. The shore is nice and shallow. Low tide brings a whole different look to the area with smooth rock surfaces and cobblestones. Of course the ocean is always awesome.

Many folks were using the bbq's to grill with charcoal and so it smelled additionally fantastic.

No rain, fog or clouds dampened our road trip. The weather this week where we visited: Coos Bay, Florence, Newport, Yachats, Depoe Bay forecasted rain and wind with even a gale warning in some parts. The Oregon Coast is so beautiful! Thor's Well in Yachats at high tide was amazing to see. At low tide we saw some brave folks walk down towards the edge of that gaping hole. In Florence we descended down 208-ft in an elevator to the Sea Lion Caves... we didn't get a chance to see any sea lions at the time but the cave was cool to see. In Newport was where we saw sea lions bask and roll about at the docks just below Clearwater Restaurant and Port Dock One in Historic Bayfront. FREE! No matter the season, the Oregon Coast is a rejuvenating getaway. We enjoyed visiting the coastal cities, admiring lighthouses, making footprints in the sand, dining on the coast, checking out unique souvenir shops, seeing miles and miles of public coastline that continue to be free and public... captivated by the beauty of the mighty Pacific Ocean. Let's go! Review #3262

We couldn't resist climbing the top of the giant steep sand dune, and I'm glad we made it! Stunning views of the ocean from the top, and it's fun to people watch too. Our dog made it too. Some ran back down, others skipped, some used sleds. It's fun either way! You'll be able to rinse your gear as you head to the parking lot. There's clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. Hungry? There's restaurants near too.

What a great little getaway! Did I think it was secluded? No. Did I expect it to be busy? No,…read morebut it was. We first checked out this place on a lovely Juneteenth Friday afternoon. The temperature was in the low 80s, but the cool ocean breeze made everything just right. It had been raining all week prior, so we thought we'd explore and give our little mutt, Tha 'il Nana, some much needed sun. So, here's a few things about Cape Kiwanda: First off, there's a public parking lot at the beach where Pelican Brewing is located that requires a Daily Fee of $10. Just remember to place the parking pass on your dashboard. The lot probably holds about 125-150 spaces, so we had no issue finding a spot. People coming and going as well. Second, expect high winds and sand blowing down the dune and along the beach. And expect those high windy days to kick up the sand along the beach. It's also pretty scenic so bring a camera or make sure your phone is fully charged. Speaking of dune, there were plenty of folks challenging themselves running up it. And usually folks would end up heading towards the tidepools. There's definitely a lot of interesting things to see from crabs, to green anemones, to fancy sandstone rocks, and starfish. Oh yeah, and speaking of high winds, there were plenty of folks flying kites too. Third, the beach is a long and wide straightaway stretch, so everyone has plenty of room to run and play in the cold water. Great for dogs to play fetch and intermingle with other dogs. Our mutt was all over the place and I could tell she was having fun. She simply loved it! As far as the sand in general, it looks fine and bright. Not as white as the beaches in Cancun, but definitely cleaner than the ones in Cali. Bring a towel or two and enjoy the sun. Hell, some folks even had a whole tent set up. Fourth, some fellow yelpers mentioned there are no public restrooms, but there actually is one public restroom way up in the corner of the parking lot. Maybe because of covid they were closed, I don't know. But from relaxing on the beach, I can see how long of a walk it would be just to wanna relieve yourself. In closing, we accomplished our goal of making our old dog happy, and getting away from the inland heat. I truly enjoyed it here and plan to return someday. One final note; I was told from a local, "pretty much from here to Astoria (north) the beaches will be packed, but south of here will be a bit more secluded". Gotta love the Oregon coast! Enjoy!

First off you need to understand that in my opinion this place is more designed for people that want to come and relax and have a peaceful stay. This place appeals to me because it's quiet are there are not a lot of people around. This place is ideal for those that want to have a private beach and not have a bunch of people around. You practically have your own private beach. If you are looking for more things to do you can just pop into Lincoln City which is not far away. If having a romantic weekend straight out of 1982 is your dream vacation, book!!! If not, avoid. I do believe each house is decorated/provisioned by the actual owners and not the property management team, as I did see other homes that were incredibly cute. This home, however, could use a massive update. Bathrooms were seriously laughable -- if you're over 5 feet and 90 pounds, good luck with fitting in the tub or shower! Hope you're also a fan of WEAK water pressure -- and the bedding (comforter) in the king room looked like it had been well marked by a dog. Sweet. I will say we had GREAT views from the family room and deck. Saw a TON of whales right from the family room. We kept plenty warm and cozy. I think it was way over priced for getting accommodations so extremely dated. Also, watch out for the rip tide. Watched people get rescued!
