They laid out the rules and gave us a quick lesson on how to throw axes safely. Oh, and how to work the score system. We were mostly left to our own devices after that, having a fun time overall. About half way though, the staff swung by and showed us how to use the lighter hatchets, which were great for a few of us who lacked a little upper body strength. A great time overall.

The space is quite large with seating areas and the hatchet throwing bays. There were also other forms of entertainment including an air hockey table, checkers and the eye and hook game outside. I will say there was a learning curve to figuring out how to throw the hatchets properly but the attendant was nice enough to walk us through it and give us some tips. Once I got the hang of it, I had tons of fun. We had signed up for an hour and it went by very quickly. One cool part about this place is that they have fun games that you can play while throwing including a hatchet throwing blackjack where the first person to 21 points wins. Overall, this place is a great find and the hour goes by pretty quickly here! They do serve food so I can see this being a great spot for friends or a date night!

Our guests are still raving…read moreabout each course, and the cake was stunning (even though our topper was mistakenly eaten, the team quickly provided a replacement, which we greatly appreciated). The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and created the perfect backdrop for our wedding day. That said, there are some areas where we think the experience could be even better. Communication throughout the planning process was sometimes challenging, even when we reached out with questions. On the day of our wedding, our hope was to follow the timeline we had carefully planned so that we could maximize time with our guests. Although our coordinator reassured us things were on track, the buffet ended up starting later than expected. Because of that delay, our reception ended with much less dancing time than we had envisioned. We had chosen a buffet in part because we were told it would be quicker than a plated dinner, but that unfortunately wasn't the case. We share this not to take away from how beautiful and memorable our day was, but because we believe The Mill has all the ingredients to deliver a truly seamless experience. With improved communication and a little more focus on time management, future couples will be able to enjoy every aspect of what makes this venue so special--the incredible food, stunning setting, and joyful atmosphere.

The atmosphere is one of the highlights, with an excellent selection of craft beers and some great cocktails to complement the experience. Service can be a bit hit or miss, especially when the venue gets crowded, so don't expect the same level of attention during peak times. Parking can be a challenge if you visit on weekends.
