Fast forward to us not only being emotionally crushed by a sudden death, but the fact we had no funeral plans. It was unerving to call them while my fathers body was still in the hospital room next to me, but the woman who I talked to on a weekend evening calmly explained the process and assured me we'd get through this as quickly as possible to start the grieving process. They handled everything as they coordinated certificates, transportation, and even got us in touch with a cemetery I had been trying to find a contact for years to for myself. They helped me create a customized service for dad, and were very accommodating to help keep my mother's stress levels down during and after the funeral. The attention to every detail and the personalized care made me get funeral plans for my entire family with them. I cannot thank them enough on thank you Thursday for helping me get through the worst days of my life.

My brother young daughters who had never been thru a loss were grieving; my sisters & I paid the whole funeral expenses upfront, and I met with Mimi during the arrangements. However, Mimi refused to communicate with me, only thru my niece who were grieving & needed my guidance. Mimi was very uncaring towards the family, I left several messages for her and her manager, never did any of them return my calls.

I like that they give me options as I can be cremated, or have any casket I like interred here, and my husband can be buried with me. My children will have a beautiful place to visit us and their ancestors. i love that it is kept neat and tidy and the rows are very impressive. You DO have to follow their guidelines as to what can be placed with your loved ones on the graves during visits as well as what type of flowers can be left there. JUST AN FYI, do not leave anything at ANY cemetery that you will be devastated if it is stolen. I saw someone on here post that their little boys cars were taken by the grounds keepers and zip ties were left on the grave. That was more likely done by someone stealing them. I have seen it at every cemetery here in San Antonio. I have literally watched ppl steel flowers off someone's grave and put it on their loved ones. It is very disgraceful but it happens. I am a bit scared to be a lady vet buried alongside all the good ole boy vets who did not like women serving, but I served my country well and will till the day I go, not my administration, my country, my children's country, my grandchildren's country. They discarded everything with absolutely no care. It was already a devastating loss in our lives and for them to treat my grandsons graveside like trash is ridiculous and utterly disgusting. We were planning on removing everything this Friday the 6th because they posted the next flower pick up was scheduled for March 10th through the 12th. The first mortuary that we had (admittedly) lighted vetted answered our panicked midnight call, only to tell us that they would not receive a COVID patient and did not have the capacity to embalm my Dad. After quickly scanning online, I reached out to Porter Loring North and was immediately connected with the kindest intake specialist. Within two hours we received a confirmation call that my Dad had been collected and was safely resting. The next morning at 9am, we spoke with our designated funeral director, Monica, who thoroughly outlined next steps, timelines, etc. Due to backlog, we had a bit of a wait until my Dad's actual service and burial, but throughout the process, Monica had the expertise, empathy, and patience of a saint. Communication was constant and accurate. Porter Loring seamlessly navigated me and my Mom through all aspects of the service, from submitting forms to life insurance agencies, ordering death certificates, assisting us in creating a slideshow, and arranging flower deliveries. My Mom and I were never pressured into any sales, and even our smallest requests were honored. There was last minute confusion (on my part) regarding a song to play during my Dad's service, and Monica stepped in to correct the issue personally. My Dad's service was absolutely flawless, and I believe Porter Loring gave my Father the respect and dignity we could only hope to provide for him. He was the best! I got home about 9 pm and started looking for caskets. I made many calls and either I had to wait until Monday to call back or I had to leave a message. You see, I didn't have a lot of time: the Funeral Home needed the casket by Tuesday. I found one company who could have shipped the casket in one day; but, I had to pay the shipping from the airport. Finally, after 1:00 am I reached Express Caskets. I spoke with a live person and was pleased with their selection, costs and delivery time. To make things even better, I was able to save a few dollars by making my payment directly to their account. Also, they were able to not only deliver by Tuesday, they delivered earlier than promised. I was finalizing the arrangements and went downstairs to wait when I was advised that the casket arrived an hour ago. I went downstairs to watch it be unpacked and was blown away by the quality. The Funeral Director asked me how much I payed and said the casket was absolutely beautiful. This is one of the most stressful times in life, not only emotionally but also financially because so many people take advantage. I am so happy for Express Caskets and their high level of dedication and honesty along with no delivery fees. They are truly the best!

He was highly responsive and flexible with all of our requests and kept us updated throughout. I can't say enough about the quality of work he provided us. The ceremony was beautiful, and overall we felt like our loved one was honored considering the short amount of time that everything was completed. They took care of the slideshow that was shown during the service, they also took care of the playlist of songs, and they took care of the programs that were handed out. Norma was also helpful in making sure the food was stocked and displayed along with ensuring our guests needs were taken care of. The bathrooms were clean, the whole building seemed to be clean, and it didn't seem like that detail was overlooked which was highly appreciated after viewing other funeral homes. The lighting was good, and we felt like the staff was good overall as well. There was also a private family room attached to the main service room if anyone needed a break or wanted to use it for a kids room. This place was full service from what I could tell. The only part that I wasn't extremely satisfied with was towards the very end where it felt like we were a little rushed out. We did book for an extra hour to ensure this didn't happen, but things happen and we understand that part wasn't understood my some of the staff.
