I can't rave enough about this barber shop…read more Having gotten used to a particular level of haircut from when I lived in a larger city, it was a tough search coming to Grand Rapids. I would put Avenue on par with, if not higher than, most cuts that I used to get in Boston. My haircuts take a little longer because of my type of hair, but it's well worth the extra time. Chris and Josh work with precision and use foil shavers to give the best fades in the area. I've had friends and random people compliment me and ask where I go for my haircuts. Prices are very fair and wait time isn't too bad if you go off peak hours. They also take online reservations for Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I recommend looking at least 2 weeks in advance if you want to schedule it. They also hired in a 3rd guy, so I'm assuming that will help with wait times as well. If you care about your hair and love precision cuts, definitely give Avenue a try.

This place has high ratings so I thought I'd give them a try. It's December which is when so I…read morealways cut off my hair and get a fade. How fitting that I ended up at Faded. Skip must cut a lot of fades bc it literally only took 10 mins and it was pretty good. Lineups are included but you have to say it when you tell him how you want your cut. I get a lot of haircuts because to me the experience is therapeutic. I wish he cut slower, but that's just me being selfish. Also I got a bald fade and I didn't get any redness or bumps which means Skip has magic hands!!

He makes kids' haircuts not scary and does an excellent job.

I've been coming here for about 2 years to have Stormy cut my hair and I've never left disappointed. All appointments are done via a website called StyleSeat, so you can instantly see what availability they have. These two ladies are so popular they are always booked solid, so you have to be a little lucky to get an appointment. They also don't do walk-ins because they are always so busy. Anyway - this is an old school barber shop with a pin up girl style ambiance. Since it's by appointment, it's often just you and the barber, and you can have great conversations about just about everything. As for the actual cuts - they go above and beyond to make you look good. I never look better than I do coming out of this place. They also sell hair products - pomade, beard oil, brushes etc.to keep you looking good. Highly recommended

Best haircut I've ever had, hands down. Jazz is unbelievably talented. She makes her clients feel…read morecomfortable, listens to what they want and takes the time to explain what she's doing. She also is very knowledgeable about the products she sells, and is helpfull finding the right product for you. You'll leave Rogue looking your best and feeling great about yourself. She doesn't just cut hair, she sells confidence. My only complaint is that there isn't 3 or 4 of her, but I am excited to see she recently hired another stylist and know Jazz would only work with the best. As for the one star review, make an appointment and take a number. Rogue is a real barbershop and Jazz in high demand. To think you can get a walk in is ridiculous, go get your dad cut at a strip mall chop shop.

I always get my beard faded down at the sideburns and I never have had a barber use a scissor and comb to do it like this barber did. I think I know why now-it didn't work. The guy destroyed my beard, lines were uneven, and after four years of growing it I had to shave it down after this cut and start all over. I'll never go back, he had no idea what he was doing.

(Also if the wait is two hours, doesn't that say something about the quality of the work they do?) Yes, it's 2018, so use this app and see when the shop is the busiest and DON'T GO AT THAT TIME. Be an adult, and plan ahead. A barbershop is not McDonald's. It's not fast food. It's a relaxing chill environment and if you want a place where everything is done on a computer and you are streamlined through an assembly line, go to Jude's barbershop like the other basic people. Brennan always gives me exactly the cut I want. I always feel fantastic when I leave. Barbers can't read your mind, you have to take the time to explain in detail what you want. I promise they aren't going to be offended by you telling them what you want. Yes, they take lunch breaks. They are human beings who need food just like you. I really like this place, and I respect their decision to run it the way they do

Because I have a cowlick in the back of my head, I asked that he keep my hair a bit longer, just trimming close at the bottom. He totally ignored that request and when I mentioned it, he said it would not be a problem. He put some sort of pomade in my hair without asking. I prefer not to use heavy products in my hair. As I was in the chair, I noticed that the wax pot was filthy. Bottom line, this place is not clean, I got one of the worst haircuts I have ever had, and I will not be back.
