Breezy, relaxed suburban cafe in the middle of hipster Brunswick.
Food is consistently good and creative, with some interesting, diverse choices (Dahl fritters, pea and ham, kimchi bowl).
On this visit I had the Kimchi bowl, and it was rich salty decadence. There was a hint of spice and a mix of textures from the soft eggs and pork, to the crisp brocollini and the crunchy black and white sesame seeds. Probably better suited to a chilly Melbourne morning than a warm Spring day.
Service was relaxed and friendly. When I enquired about newspapers the solo copy was delivered to me once available.
Coffee is solid. My short mac' was easy to drink, smooth but a smidgen over roasted for me.
What's the difference between a hipster and a beatnik? I am not sure .. could be better ambience but for me it's all about food - and this place gets high marks on the strength of this.
Newspapers - Just the one curiously.
Music - background tunes, concrete floors and a mix of brick and tiled walls means it can get noisy when full. read more
