My experience at NeoMagna Hotel in Madrid was average.
The rooms were really clean, the sheets looked great...but though I stayed in a non-smoking room...it smelled like someone was smoking 2 minutes before I got in the room each time. I think it's because of the old water pipes. I stayed in a single room, which has a twin bed. I've not slept in a twin bed in so long, I almost fell off every other hour. The building is not sound proof, I was literally able to hear the person upstairs. It seemed like she was training horses up there in chunky wooden heels.
Oh, the building has sensor lights...it only works when you enter the area. That creeped me out each time. It didn't help that I had to enter two separate doors to get to my room...super creepy as well! The worst part of my stay was my room was wifi dead zone -- so I had to sit in the bathroom to get wifi.
They offer a continental breakfast sold at 11 euros...if you're too lazy to get out and look for food in the morning...just buy the voucher. The area the hotel is in is not a very lively. It's pretty dead around 9-ish -- asides from the left overs that stuck around longer for Spain's "Tapas Time." The crowd in the hotel is much older, I don't want to generalize, but they were a tad unfriendly. It's super close to great restaurants -- but none that will blow you away or a must visit. It is close to a metro station and the staff is pretty friendly. read more
