Nice place to camp, very helpful. All I had was my hammock and my motorcycle, and the fella there found me a couple of post to set my hammock between. This was during Surgis week so I'm guessing there is not as may people there the whole time. Nice wrap around porch on the restaurant bar. Try and find the 5$ PBR schooner mugs instead of the 5 cans of beer outside. During this week the towns fire fighters put on a breakfast across the street and down the road about a 100 yards, well worth the walk. read more

This little outpost has a general store and several tent sites and cabins surrounded by... Well, surrounded by nothing. Just nature. The town of Nemo boasts a population of 38 and I'm pretty sure we met all of them in the bar/restaurant that night. Some dude was playing guitar and everyone else was chilling out, drinking beer and telling stories... The kids were running around, and the sky was an explosion of color as the sun went down. Really nice. A note to you city folk who are bitching about it being rural: If you want a Marriott, you should go find one. If you want to sit on the porch and rock in a chair while talking with the locals, this is the place. They even have a Nickelodeon in the General Store! Oh Nemo, You need to get it together before the 75th Sturgis Rally. We heard reasons/excuses as to why the restaurant wasn't open. Unfortunately on a motorcycle on Nemo Rd., for dinner we were a bit of a captive audience which was unfortunate with no restaurant. Mike's catering was appreciated, but we could only eat there once. The toughest steak sandwich I'd ever had. In 5 nights, that was our only meal there. Our first morning we learned that there is no WiFi. Not sure why. The same shower house from 2013 was still under construction. Not sure how that is even possible 12 months later? It's only maybe 4 stalls. Even though the property is in a great location, it doesn't seem the money is being put back in to upkeep, and that is unfortunate. We understand that it was Sturgis week and everyone charges more, but for almost $200/night I'm not sure how they can justify it. Basically you will find our cabin available in 2015....there are better deals for the money. Tired and disappointed from CO. read more

We're saying in Sturgis the week before the rally for a family vacation. Someone told us there were a lot of good restaurants in Nemo. We came over and this was the only restaurant we saw. Glad we stopped, really nice atmosphere with a down home country setting. Restaurant is in a really cute log cabin. Simple lunch menu with several kinds of hamburgers and a few sandwiches. Very friendly staff. Campground looked nice too, wouldn't mind coming back to camp here sometime. Looked like they had little cabins to rent. If you find yourself in Nemo this is a good place to stop. read more

I was recommended to Nemo Guest ranch by a friend who raved and raved about it. I called at the last possible moment during the busiest time of the year (when a gathering of literally hundreds of thousands of Harley Motorcycle enthusiasts were converging in the area) and Troy still hooked me up with a place to stay. At the last minute I had to cancel because I wasn't able to make the miles I needed to to stay on schedule and I called and left a voicemail and figured I'd not hear back. Know what? Troy called me back and was as generous and kind as anyone I've ever met in the hospitality industry. He made me feel welcome to come back and visit. I just had to leave a yelp review here and say that I don't think you could go wrong with these people. They are good people in a beautiful part of the country. Long live Nemo Guest Ranch! This establishment has gone way down hill over the last 5-8 years. It used to be a nice vacation and eating spot, back-country style and a bit funky but very friendly, clean and well kept. Now the buildings are deteriorating, the grounds are unkept and it's become a favorite hangout of the dirt bike/atv/utv drink beer and ride crowd, which is fine if that's your thing. The restaurant had closed early for the season even though the place was packed so there was nowhere to eat. We had rented an RV site that was squeezed in between a camp site of dirt bikers and a cabin with a large firepit next to the site. The only hookup was power. $54.00 for this??? We won't be back and I strongly suggest anyone else stay clear as well unless you're there to ride the trails. There are a number of much nicer spots throughout the area to stay at. read more

Our friends, Minnesota Mitch, Brad & Sonja Hill and my beautiful Wife, Doreen, have been staying at Troy and Willie's Nemo Guest Ranch now for 7 years and we have loved every visit we have made! Everyone who is on the Nemo Team treats us like Family and in 7 years we have never had any complaints! The Nemo Guest Ranch is a beautiful and wonderful campground. The staff is very kind and generous. On a stormy night in December, I was lost in a blizzard leaving Rapid City. I took a wrong turn and found myself in the town of Nemo 35 minutes away. I was unable to see the road due to blowing snow and had no cell phone service in the hills. Troy and Willy welcomed me in and allowed me to use their phone. The storm hindered anyone from coming to my rescue with the blowing snow in the dark. Troy and Willy offered to let me stay the night in one of their luxurious cabins. The action was so generous, I was blown away by their kindness. My eyes welded up with tears. When they brought me to their cabin, it had a fully working fireplace and heated shower. I was so grateful. The cabin slept ten people and had a loft area above the fireplace. I slept in one of the two twin beds in the loft area. They provided me with extra blankets and fireplace kept me warm all night long . It was a wonderful night's stay. I would highly recommend this campground to anyone who wants friendly hospitality and a comfortable sleep. It really makes you feel like your ruffing it in style. read more

I am a local from the Black Hills area and stopped in to eat at the restaurant/bar with a few buddies. Ill cut right to the chase, the service, or lack there of, from "Darcy" was absolutely disgusting. She was rude from the very beginning. We sat for 15 minutes before she finally came over and took our drink order. She had an attitude and was short the entire time. We even tried complying with her by being polite and patient and yet she still was rude. At one point we asked if we could get some silverware and she walked away from us and mumbled "yeah, ill get right on it" in a sarcastic tone. Absolutely ridiculous that the Nemo Guest Ranch allows someone like this to serve and greet tourists. We eventually asked her if we did something wrong for her to act like that and all she said was "Well i guess im not fast enough for you guys". Which was not the case at all. Disgusting service with an even more disgusting personality. The other girl working told us that our server was "just crabby today". I have been in the hospitality industry and i find it unsettling that a person like this is serving guests and families that come to the Black Hills. Needless to say we did not tip her a dime. Get it together and hire some friendly staff, there are plenty of smiling happy people in the world. read more

I'm not hard to please and I rarely write a review of any kind, but the Nemo Guest Ranch rankled me enough to write this to warn others. First, was the very rude treatment I received from the manager of the restaurant - I believe he may be the owner because I doubt an employee would ever treat a guest with such disrespect. My bad experience centered around the dinner that the ranch catered for our family reunion. For $15 a head they served us some cheap burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and some beans (straight out of the can) - pretty lousy and we even had to provide our own salad. The pulled pork was decent but they were incredibly stingy with the amount of pork put on the cheap bun (wonder bread type). I was still hungry after the first pork sandwich so I went back for another and the manager/owner made a big deal to the woman helping him serve, saying "that's it, no more seconds on pork because I need to use it for lunches tomorrow." To this statement I said to him "you know we have paid quite a bit for this meal and I don't think you should be so stingy with the pork." He became indignant and said "that's the rudest thing I have ever heard" then as I walked out he mumbled something and I turned and calmly asked him what he said, then he yelled at me and said "get the hell out of here." Never have I been so disrespected for just calling this guy out about his stinginess. Of course, lots of other problems, including the incessant noise and dust from the 4-wheelers, the dilapidated and dirty condition of the guest houses, and the beds that were completely wore out (expect a sore back). If you are looking for a friendly, clean, reasonably priced, quiet place, then look elsewhere. read more
