A German only café.
A "haben englisch menu?" got me blank looks from the granny behind the counter. I somehow did manage to order frühstück (breakfast). We got our coffee served with a delicious ginger cracker.
The granny got to work behind the counter. She took out the rolls of bread from a shopping bag and started cutting it. She reached inside the fridge and took out some ham and cheese, and scooped up some fresh butter. We were then served a very well presented, fresh, and beyond homey breakfast I've ever had outside of home.
If you only speak English, I still urge you to venture out and give it a try if you're not too far. Only after embarrassing yourself do you deserve a truly homey and authentic Austrian meal. read more
