So, I was looking for some turkish products like pepper paste, bulgur, maybe some turkish desserts. The closest turkish store to downtown is about 30 min drive, and as someone who doesn't have a car, the cost of uber doesn't justify going all the way there. I saw this store nearby and I wasn't sure if it would have the products I am looking for. So before I went there, I called and asked. The owner was really nice, answered the phone and checked the products for me and that they have it available. I quickly went and got the products. They are reasonably priced. If you are turkish and in need of some basics and leave close to downtown, try this store before going 30 min drive to other turkish stores. Amazing grocery place. They have a lot international food including Persian and Arab food. From their collection I was able to find Sadaf products (US based high quality Iranian brand that sells Persian food), dough (Persian drinks and other yogurt based Persian drinks, Persian treats and even saffron. They have also lots of arabic brand food such as Roni (canned juice with pulps) that is amazingly yummy, european chocolates and variety of international cookies. There are frozen ready food of both ethnicity as well offered in this place. These are the unique products in this store but they also have a whole lot of generic food that one can find at any grocery store. They have a limited variety of produce so i would not recommend to go here for vegetables and fruits more than tomato, onion, and bell pepper. read more

Wonderful ethnic grocery that fills a much-needed gap in the neighborhood -- I believe it's the only (South/West) Asian market in the area. If you like eating or cooking Indian, South Asian, Middle Eastern, or North African food, it'd be well worth your time to make a stop here. The store is divided into 2 parts: a grocery store section, and a deli section next door. Some highlights: Grocery store section: -Frozen food: If you are a student short on time, the frozen foods section is a godsend. I tried the Al Safa frozen chicken tikka masala TV dinner (sells for $4.49 for a one-person serving), and it tastes pretty much like what chicken tikka masala should taste like. It is a little pricey for a one-person dinner but it's definitely cheaper than ordering out and is a welcome change from other frozen foods. They also cary frozen chicken biryani, falafel, and samosas. -Spice and spice mixes Neima Halal carries a variety of spices at great prices-- much cheaper than what you'd find at a chain grocery store. They also have many boxed spice mixes for things like butter chicken, korma, tandoori masala, etc., most of which are brands from South Asia (Shan, Laziza International, etc.), too. Sadly, they do not have Kitchens of India the last time I checked. They also have jars of pureed ginger. -Coconut milk This place has the cheapest coconut milk (Clover brand) in the neighborhood, to my knowledge. Most places sell it for around $2, but here each can is only $0.99. So I stock up here. (Do note that Clover is quite a bit more watery than other brands, though, so it might not be as good if you're looking for something thick.) -Canned hummus Much, much cheaper than the fresh kind. I really like using it to create a creamy, cheesy mouthfeel in lasagna, non-dairy mac and cheese, etc. since I'm lactose intolerant. It can be eaten with chips too, though it's not quite as good as fresh hummus. Deli section highlights: -Deli meat: They have Middle Eastern style sausage and Turkish pastrami. Pricey but they are very tasty and I would recommend trying them. -Frozen meats They have whole lamb and other cuts of meat here. Ask the person behind the counter about what kinds of frozen meat they have in the back, as the fresh meat section in the front is limited. -Fresh cheese I'm lactose intolerant and haven't tried them, but they look really good. Not sure what kind of cheese it is. -Tamarind and dates -Interesting snacks Lots of international (East and South Asian, European, and of course Middle Eastern) snacks and candies by the register. You can get Yan Yan (dippable cookie sticks that come with a chocolate/strawberry/vanilla cream) here. -Vegetables This is the BEST place to get cucumbers in the area, that I know of. The cucumbers her are small and crunchy, not like the usual big waxy English cucumbers, or soft seeded cucumbers. They are a little pricier but are much tastier than normal cucumbers. I like eating them in Smitten Kitchen's avocado salad recipe, or with liver paté (hint: buy it from Sophia's Place or Krakus Deli) and fig jam on top. Not sure how you're supposed to eat them. They also sell other vegetables here, like tomatoes and such. Though the selection is often limited, I was able to get a bag of spring onions here when both Whole Foods and Northeast Market's Richardson Farms didn't have them. read more

None of the employees were wearing masks or practicing social distancing even with customers which is very concerning in the midst of a raging pandemic. They also have many expired items in the shelf. read more
