This year, I called ahead to ask about wine and beverage cups, and was pleasantly surprised to speak to a real, live person who not only confirmed they had what I was looking for but also told me exactly which aisle it was in. It's refreshing to get that kind of personal touch, especially in a place that might seem like just another big-box store. Located on the south side of West Towne Mall, it's easy to find, well-stocked, and the service goes above and beyond. I'll definitely keep coming back!

Total Wine & More really does a good job providing a wide array of products for a great price. I've been here several times and never leave disappointed (except for one thing that I'll mention later). Their employees know their products and can make smart recommendations based on what you're looking for. Samples? Yes please! At one visit, an employee pointed out a good whiskey that he thought I'd like. Lo and behold, it was one of the samples, so I was able to "try before I buy". I like that. On another visit, I was lured into a back room for a tequila tasting. Not liking, I tried to decline, but was convinced to give them a try - and I was not disappointed. Also, I like how at the front of the store they have racks of "airplane bottles" - small "samplers" that you can buy to try out various products. Again - I like this idea. It was a way for me to try peanut butter whiskey without sinking too much into a larger bottle... So yeah - they're the big guy on the block, but I like the service they provide, and the deals that I get. I would LOVE it if they were able to track down a bottle of Thomas Tew rum. This is a personal goal of mine (I have my reasons), but I understand they are a small brand only found on the east coast. Someday...

And the package has all the good stuff I like to see like Rainforest Alliance and Women Owned and no weird ingredients I can't pronounce or fillers. Really, if you like pâté, you will like the Alexian Pâté De Champagne! Then there's this truffle cheese... oh my it's a gorgeous flavor! And only 6 bucks. You'll be so glad you did. I've tried several wines and usually look for the sales, and I've never been disappointed! Recently I purchased an IPA with pineapple and coconut and thought this could be weird if not executed right... then I remembered: I'm at Steve's! They don't sell anything that isn't really good!!! And that was some amazing beer by Fair State Brewing Cooperative. Well done. So, it's worth it to stop at Steve's versus and grocery store. You'll get a better selection. Surprisingly, they carry a wide selection of international products. I was delighted to find these viral ice creams at the West Side location (there's also one on the East Side of Madison). These ice creams became popular about 1.5-2 years ago. I first tried lemon in LA late 2024 and then mango in Houston earlier this year, but this is the first time I've seen them in an American grocery store. While they're also available at Global Market (an Asian grocery store on the East Side), Woodman's price is unbeatable--just $9 for a box of three, compared to around $12 plus tax in LA. The outer shell is a crunchy white chocolate coating, while the inside is fruity ice cream flavors like mango, peach, lemon, and apricot (no actual fruits). They also offer unique flavors such as durian, grape, and tangerine. It's great to see Woodman's carrying these, hopefully more people will get to try them!

We like to go to Le Cork because it has a different atmosphere. Its not the dive bar, its not the swanky bar. It's perfectly right in the middle of your comfort spot. I love the whole wall of brick to set the tone. Its usually a little darker in there, smaller tables, you can cosy up and get intimate. Bartenders are always friendly and whip an awesome selection of martini's. My favorite is the Key Lime Pie. It's hard to switch it up when they are SO good. They often have live bands which can be fun. Definate must visit while in the Mount Horeb area. Did I mention they have the liquor store right next door? Stop in there to pick up brews, wine, and liquor!

Today I was in the area and went to the Middleton location for some last minute gifts. Boy, was I shocked. They used to have an extensive variety and all kinds of goods from all over the world. It was a place you could spend a lot of time there just browsing and learning about items from other cultures. Now? Complete TRASH. Crap you can find anywhere! Overpriced and of low value. Nothing that would be considered unique or interesting. And their pricing is insane!! I spent more time in line, due to 2 cashiers, than I did browsing. This was only because my grandson wanted to buy a few gifts for family. He found things but we could have found those things anywhere. Standard, bland stuff. This was just another reminder that most companies are just not in it for the high quality goods or customer experience. Just the profits.

Their produce is high quality, the butcher is very friendly and knowledgeable (he may be the only grocery employee I remember by name), and the cheese selection is wildly impressive. My only annoyance is the few times I've asked some of the younger employees questions and they simply say "I don't know" rather than making any effort to find an answer. Perhaps that's just a product of the generation. Can't wait for my next visit to Brennan's! :)
