After suffering with back pain and what I described as "pulling my back" for decades, I was finally diagnosed with spondylolisthesis, herniated disc and pars fracture. I was devastated and honestly, terrified. I had never even heard of these things. I was at the point where I had tried all conservative measures and L5/S1 fusion surgery was my only option for relief. I was referred to a couple of doctors (this was late 2020) and most of those doctors couldn't see me for months; however, one was able to see me but they did not do minimally invasive surgery and the surgery and recovery that they described left me even more terrified. So, I came home and started my research. That is how I found Dr. Badlani. I saw that he did minimally invasive surgery, he and his PA had great, glowing reviews and he helped Mary Lou Retton!! Surely, he could help out of shape me! To my surprise, he saw me for consultation the week that I called and confirmed that yes, I needed fusion surgery and that he would be able to fit me in before the end of the year (I had already met my deductible!). I had my surgery Dec. 2, 2020 and have only 1 regret . . . that I didn't see Dr. Badlani sooner!! You are probably reading this review because you have an issue and are looking for a good surgeon. These people are simply amazing. A herniated disc in my L5/S1 was bulging and hitting a nerve, shooting pain from my left hip down to my ankle. I was in pain for 7 months trying (in order) another ortho who prescribed different steroids and pain meds with ZERO effect. There was no pain med that helped. I tried a pain management specialist who did 3 rounds of epidural injections. After the 3rd round - it took only a month for the pain to be back full force. I tried physical therapy, spinal decompression, deep tissue massages. Nothing helped and by June I was spending alot of time in the shower and in bed trying not to move. I didn't sleep much and would often wake up in the middle of the night. One of these nights I was going through reddit threads and ran across Dr. Badlani's name. I called them the next day and we had a consultation scheduled for the next week. I was set on surgery at this point but he was not pushy at all and let me know what some of my options were. We scheduled a micro-discectomy surgery for July 20th. Cheryl emailed me the next day asking for information and i asked to be put on a waitlist in case of any cancellations. BOOM! I highly recommend Dr Badlani! He did my two level L4-L5 and L5-S1 spinal fusion in June of 2022. The fantastic results were immediately apparent after the surgery. I have been suffering from spinal pain for 38 years and had finally come to a point that surgery was probably going to be the only option to fix my increasingly terrible pain. I had tried everything from medications, physical therapy, chiropractic, spinal traction, epidural steroid injections and trigger point injections, but was scared to actually have an invasive surgery because I thought possibly I could be in worse shape. After meeting with Dr Badlani and going over my MRI results, he explained to me exactly what was going on in my spine and what he proposed could be done. He let me take pictures of my MRI and x-rays for my own reference and records. Dr. Badlani and his staff, especially his assistant are my new superheros. I was petrified when I heard a loud pop in my back during a powerlifting competition while deadlifting. My legs with numb and fell to the floor. I couldn't walk without severe pain. I had so many unanswered questions. After years of progressively worse pain, an MRI revealed severe spinal stenosis at L5-S1 with a 12mm cyst extending into the epidural space. I was in constant pain standing, sitting or lying down was excruciating. my doctor recommended Dr. BadlanI. A friend also highly recommended Dr. Badlani. My friend said he saved her life. She was not exaggerating! Dr. Badlani performed minimally invasive spinal fusion and removed the cyst which had hardened to the epidural space and was causing the severe pain. Prior to surgery I was quite scared. Dr. Badlani took the time to answer my questions, he described in detail the surgery and calmed our nerves. His staff were also very supportive throughout the process. My surgery was early in the morning. I was up and walking that afternoon. The pain was gone! Dr. Badlani is the very best. After a hip surgery in March, I was on my way to making a speedy recovery when I felt an excruciating pain down my arm and in my neck. When I went to Dr. Adickes for my follow-up appointment for my hip, he requested an MRI for my neck and found a massive herniation. I was under severe pain from my lower back and could not do a lot of things that I used to do easily, met with Dr Badlani and he started treating me, I had to undergo a surgery to fix my back, he was am amazing doctor, went through all the steps with me and in details.
