I went to Brown's Emporium on Tues, Oct 6th. I purchased a pair of shoes. The lady who helped me…read morewas Kate. She was very nice and helpful. When I got home and took the shoes out of the box I noticed several scuff marks on the shoes. I called and spoke to Kate. She said I could bring the shoes back. I brought them back two days later. The owner informed me that shoes would've never left her store in that condition. In other words - I must've scuffed them. I explained that I hadn't worn them, so couldn't possibly have made scuff marks. She said maybe they got scuffed in the shoe box. What? That doesn't even make sense! Her Customer Service is lacking and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Needless to say they've lost my business.

The customer service here is so good. I was immediately assisted by Joel, a very patient knowledgeable resource. He listened to me talk about the many ups and downs in my relationship with running; he even looked at my old running shoes while assessing me. He did thorough measurements and studied my gait; he than retreated to the store room and made a selection of the shoes he thought would be the best for me and my issues. I would recommend this store to anyone in the Berkshire area; it is above and beyond the best place to get a shoe. The Berkshire running center is truly a personalized experience UPDATE (9/2/2020) A few weeks after wearing my new running shoes the sole began falling apart, I contacted Berkshire running center and they allowed me to exchange those shoes for a completely different pair that would more satisfy my needs! I am beyond amazed with this customer service! I also once again sing the praises of Joel; if he is working you must get him to fit you for shoes!

He was not going to make a ton of money off this job. But two hours later he called me and it was done. I never thought he could do it. So great service, persistence and just nice people. The sales staff at BB&B were super helpful and listened to my plans for using the bike on different terrain. They also made sure I was comfortable with how to operate and maintain the bike. I needed a number of items like a phone holder, water holder, helmet, and more. But they made some really good suggestions based on what I needed. Plus, I got a discount when I bought the bike accessories with the bike, which saved me even more money. I also checked out two of their other locations, and each one had a great selection of bikes and a nice space for bike repairs. In GB, I spoke to one of the techs about parts inventory and turnaround time, and I was really impressed with all of the answers. Look, there's always going to be a cheaper place to buy something, but I want to pay a fair price to a company that won't let me down when I need to maintain my bike.

I've bought a couple of kayaks, some Thule racks and a bunch of accessories here. I've also brought my over 15 year old hybrid bike in for parts and a tune up. The store is pretty pricey but the quality and service more than makes up for it. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about what they stock. They've got a ton of equipment and if they don't have the bike or kayak that fits you, they'll order it for you. They're going to be sure that you're happy with your purchase. While their bike mechanic has tried to tell me that it would be better to spend the money on a new bike instead of piecemeal repairs on mine he went ahead and only fixed what I wanted to have fixed and even put new tapes on my handle bars for free (I think he felt sorry for the poor bike). If you want cheap you're better off at walmart or dick's but if you want stuff that will last a long time your best bet is to hit them up .
