The first thing that strikes you on entering is that it can't really be described as a curry house: the term Indian restaurant is far more appropriate. This isn't the sort of place where lagered up lads tolerate ropy food in return for one more pint, but a first rate restaurant where the food takes centre stage. The menu is imaginative and varied without just piling on all the old favourites. You can't just choose your favourite curry, rice and naan and you're away, as all the main courses come with the sundries appropriate to that dish. The emphasis is very much on authentic Indian cuisine, not its spiced up English offspring. It may have garnered something of a reputation for being expensive, but Rajpoot really is a cut above, especially in the presentation stakes. The interior is clean and bright and their excellent service has attracted a large following of loyal regulars. If you're more serious about your Indian cuisine and want traditional dishes, great service, a wonderful location and that touch of sophistication often missing from similar restaurants, this place is the one for you.
