Poor food and poorly prepared another modern restaurant with flavorless food and poor mashups Many factors went into my final grading for this subpar restaurant. I came with my family for a thanksgiving dinner and my disappointment was immeasurable. The lack of menu choices were the first sign for me although it was a thanksgiving spread there still should have been more choices. They started with bread which wasn't anything special but the sesame seeds were overkill. No matter what we ordered it seemed that they had ran out of half of it. Clearly unprepared for the night and unprofessional for a restaurant doing a themed dinner, that would be like Popeyes running out of chicken! And to top it all off when the food got here it was wrong which really affected the whole experience. The food was absolutely amazing. They have the best cinnamon roll. I've had fluffy top with cream cheese pecans. Chicken and waffles serve with honey and or syrup was delicious. So we have been here twice this week. The menu is amazing. Very different mix of foods and preparation. You can get beer and cocktails The Lavender latte is so different and tasty.. highly recommend. The first time we ordered their BLT..Bacon lettuce and Fried green tomato.. very good, a bit too much mayo( for our liking) and bread is super fresh!. I ordered the "chicken fried" portabello mushroom sandwich... It was good. Roll was again really fresh. It was crispy and tasty... But I just can't do that much grease . I should have known better -- sorry I digress Plus our server appeared to be very annoyed with us . We are unsure as to why.. as it seemed like we waited a while to place our order. Second, I didn't take a pic of my sandwich that was the tomato bacon and oh was it so freaking tasty. Myself and 2 friends came in got on the wait list, but got lucky and got bar seating. I ordered a mocha that was very creamy and tasty. My sandwich was not only freaking tasty, but I got the roasted sweet potatoes that were perfectly done. I was born and raised in HHI until I moved away a few years ago and every time I visit home Nectar is the first place we eat at. They have really delicious fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and bacon jam. Their she-crab soup is also an automatic order for me. Shrimp and grits were delicious, chicken sandwich was fantastic, and while their salads are all kind of similar they give you great portions. read more

Enjoyed dinner in the new location. We had a reservation for inside and were able to get seating on their patio which is nicely done although a little close to the road. Menu and food were delicious and reasonably priced. Our server Jon was very attentive and helpful with drinks and food service. We had to send an app back as it was cold and they not only brought a new one quickly, they removed it from the check, very gracious and accommodating. Good place to enjoy with friends. This place was a great find! Went for 9am breakfast on a Friday, got seated right away. When leaving, looked like a bit of a wait had formed for tables. This is one of those places where there are so many good options it is hard to choose. The pancakes are huge...do yourself a favor and get the small portion (2). My husband and I ate here this morning! It was so filling and we both finished our plates. Our server (Katelyn/Caitlin) was super kind, answered our questions, and checked on us just enough. They have a lot of coffee options as well as cocktails/mocktails and the usual juices, etc. When we called for hours the voice recording said they will be closing on 9/29. I've been here twice now, first time eating. Came around 5:30, just in time for early dining. The place was pretty empty at this time which was fine for me. Started with the the cream of chicken pot pie soup, nice flavors. My wife had the nectar salad which was super tasty. I had the blackened catfish for an entree. The fish was great, collard greens were the best I ever had but the rice was way under for my liking. My wife had the smothered chicken which was a huge portion. Fortunately for me it was large enough for my lunch the following day. Our bartender seemed new, was a little unsure of happy hour items but not a big deal. She was super sweet and lovely. I loved the old Nectar on the south end. I was super excited to know they were moving closer to where I am which is now mid island. I live and work by Shelter cove Marina. So of course opening day I came in excited to try Nectar and I already knew and was prepared that the previous restaurant was Lucky Rooster so I knew that it already had that dimmer look. Sure enough yes it was still dark from the previous restaurant but quickly was happy to see the two bartenders I knew from Posideon and from Lucky Beach (Emma) I wasn't to impressed then for the Ambience of the dim lights compared to the original Nectar I was used to. Anyways came back for my second time again tried it out again was happy to see a familiar face behind the bar (Adrien) again from Lucky Beach. Which I already knew he was an amazing bartender. One thing that bothered me in this visit is... Half the bar was with servers, managers, and workers that work here who was having drinks and food. I knew that because I could hear their conversations. I then asked Adrien to confirm to also let everyone know around me that I can hear your conversations. As I live and work here all of my companies I work for always have made sure we make sure the guest comes first. So if half the employees are sitting at the bar how does that open room for guest to come in? Also on days off from work we don't wanna come into an establishment and hear the workers talking about work and all. Also in my previous food and beverage jobs we was not allowed to sit at the bar. Yes maybe at the end of your shift but not like at 6-7:00PM. Anyways sorry I'm not a person to leave a bad review as I also work in the service industry. But bc I work in the service industry I also know how to keep work place professional and give our guest the first priorty. Also give that "on stage experience " when you're In front of guest. The bartenders I mentioned from my two times here was amazing though. I prob won't be back regularly which sucks bc I'm right down the road. But wish you the best! Oh god. This place does it. In short, this place just hits different, it's not usually what I like but I'm not going to lie, it's good. I've been here twice and the food has always tasted good. I tried a mushroom sandwich from the menu once, and it was undeniably incredible. I couldn't finish it, it's not what I usually order but the people I went with finished it for me, and according to them, best sandwich they've ever had. That's not mentioning the service though. My travel group has two children, one of which has a disability, and while we were there, she was feeling a bit.. she had a tantrum and caused a scene. A waiter dropped what she was doing and came to us with a box of fidget toys, and offered both of them to the kids free of charge. Back to the food though, my second trip, I got the southern chicken and waffles. It was a subtle taste, again not what I'm used to but it was undeniably really good. It was a big waffle, but it was finished less than 7 minutes after I got it, it was simply amazing. Before I end the review, the ambience. It was our first time visiting Hilton Head island and I found this place on Yelp. It sounded so good that I knew we had to try it. I was worried it would be packed for a Saturday at lunch, but I guess it's still pretty new so it was easy to get a table - I'm sure that won't always be the case. We tried a variety of adult beverages to get our vacation started- the roosters crow was spicy! I like spicy but this was a bit much for me. The bees knees was DELISH! The Irish railroads was really good too. I didn't like the Georgia Collins, but there were SO many other options- so you are sure to find others. The bartender even made my boyfriend a special holiday old fashioned that he really enjoyed. As for food, we started with the deviled eggs. The orange marmalade sounded like it would make them so unique and I was right- it truly elevated the flavor. Plus the cracklings gave it the best crunch. So good! We shared both the duck dip and the duck hash. Both wonderful. The hash was made with Brussel sprouts, I think turnips, raisins, and onions. The flavors were really good. The sweet potato biscuit wasn't what we expected, a bit dry- but ask for the fresh butter and it really makes it good. The dip is really great. Tastes almost liked smoked bbq. The sauce on the bread really made it good. We got the Mac and cheese as our side, which was good, but honestly everything was so much better that we barely ate it. Dessert: we got the hummingbird cake. To be quite honest, this was my least favorite of the meal. I was expecting a very cream cheese frosting but it was more like a pure sugar frosting. It needs more cream cheese I think. The menu offers so many amazing things though, you probably don't even need desserts! We did return the very next day for breakfast since we were only in town for about 24 hours and wanted to try more. This time no alcohol - the hot coffee is strong but good. The regular cold brew had a flavor that was not my favorite. I got it with the pumpkin spice but after one switched to the hot coffee. For our meals my boyfriend did the special of a wild boar sausage scramble which he loved. I ordered the lowcountry omelette, which was a recommendation from the day before. I thought it was OK. The hollandaise was good but it just wasn't my favorite dish. The grits were awesome though. We of course ordered more deviled eggs. Highly recommend trying this place out! read more

A little off the beaten path from the main tourist district and the hotel we are staying at, but not too far of a drive only about a seven minute drive from the beach, but let me tell you this place is way underrated and probably on the newer end, I would imagine. We were so thankful to find this place having both a dog and an infant, and it had a perfect backdoor patio that was covered and was really a great option for what we were looking for. It was just a bonus that the food was so delicious and that everything we ordered we knew was gonna be fantastic But the star of the night really goes to whoever was bartending because the cocktails were really really better than expected and exceeded our expectations for sure I got a version of an old-fashioned. That was a little prettier and seasonal, but was one of the best I've ever had. My wife had a dirty martini that she said was absolute perfection and we also ordered a few additional cocktails that were just flawless. A really big menu I think is the only downside to this place as I think they could make it a little smaller and focus on some more unique dishes, but like I said, if they're still newer, they could use some time to develop this and really hone in on a few Creative dishes. That being said what we ordered was both delicious and pretty straightforward as I just had the steak sandwich with excellent fries, and my wife ordered the fish entrée which she said was excellent. We had a few of the starters, including the shrimp cocktail and bread service, which were both delicious and exceeded expectations For dessert. We had the banana cream pie and a dessert cocktail, which were both fantastic service was great here and nice and like I said very accommodating to our situation in particular so if you're looking for a casual yet upscale dining food experience this is your place and like I said, I think it's a little underrated at this point given it's off the beaten path would definitely return five stars read more

I really, really, wanted to love this place because I like what they stand for but alas it wasn't meant to be. We came here for breakfast on my birthday because I wanted to try someplace new. We had the deviled eggs, eggs benedict, chicken n waffles, biscuit n gravy, sweet potato pancakes, nitro cold brew, and honey lavender latte (both not pictured). The presentation of the deviled eggs was way better than the taste. Maybe if they were served warm the flavors may have messed slightly better than they had but they were not and so they were a NO GO. The eggs benedict was tasteless. While not everyone gets the hollandaise sauce right Nectar's version is ALL THE WAY WRONG. The chicken n waffles were not the best we ever had, FAR from it. And despite all of this these items weren't even the worse items that we had, that category would fall to their SAD, SAD, version of biscuits n gravy. Very unremarkable. Soooooo... why three stars you ask... because there is no option for two and a half stars and I really enjoyed the sweet potato pancakes, honey lavender latte, and the atmosphere. And like you know they get brownie points for trying different takes on the standard breakfast items. I just wish it was good different and not bad different. read more

Fortunately, they could fit 10 people on the weekend. Unfortunately, it was outside I. The Hilton Head heat. The drinks were slow even though they weren't too busy (5 pm on Sunday). The food overall was pretty good. The menu is interesting but missing some things such as oysters and crab. The wings were a nice honey peach. The grits were cheesy and delicious (too bad it only came with 4 shrimp - the manager did cook an additional order to add). My sister said the salads were really good and fresh. The low country cioppino was good but there was no broth. The hush puppies were a little over done. Our entrees came out a bit faster than we would've liked, but otherwise service was excellent. Best restaurant on HHI in my humble opinion. My husband and I ate here for brunch. He had the Southern Chicken & Waffles. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Waffle was delicious. I had the Butcher's Bowl, strips of flavorful filet over a yummy bed of rice with roasted veggies. It was amazing! I also had the salted caramel nitro cold brew, so tasty! New ish brunch place on the island that's definitely worth trying! They have some really unique offerings and food that's really thoughtfully made. Came here by myself the first time, then brought some friends along the second time. Really good experiences both times around. I've ordered the duck hash and the southern belly benny, although I think they changed their menu recently because the benny didn't come with fried green tomatoes (I would've definitely remembered if it did, and I definitely would not have asked them to omit them!). Both of these were really tasty, although I felt they were a bit pricey. We also tried the biscuit basket and, let me tell you, you don't want to miss this. The biscuits are delicious, and they're really unique, especially the sweet potato one. It's amazingly fibrous and it's amazing when it's warm with their house butter and honey. I most recently tired the Korean fried chicken and waffle. It was tasty, it came with kimchi on the side. I wish the chicken was a little more Korean-flavor-inspired, but the whole dish was very filling which I was really happy about.
