Great little gem right in downtown Lincoln with a very low ticket price. They have standing exhibits and also bring in traveling exhibits, often from the Smithsonian. They have recently added a children's section to encourage interactivity for the little ones.

Very interesting to learn so much about the history of the Great State of Nebraska at this museum in downtown Lincoln. Well worth at least two or three hours and I was glad to be here during the summer break. I have no doubt that this place fills up with kids on school trips who are running about and generally making a lot of noise. None of that today! Starting with an exhibit on dirt racing (the docent was unimpressed with my knowledge of the NASCAR Hall of Fame in my home of Charlotte), there were crafting exhibits, women in business, a huge photography exhibit and more about Nebraska growing from territory to state. If you're at all interested in recent history, this is the spot. I had fun! [Review 11394 overall, 1171 of 2019.]

Free museum that explores past and modern history of Nebraska. Covers everything from Native Americans, quilts, the Dakota Access Pipeline and segregation.

This is the museum you should spend the night at, if you ever win a really bizarre contest…read more I've always thought Africa has the modt interesting animals. Anazingly, the ancestors of almost every single one of them used to live in Nebraska! Part zoo (dead animals plus present day ones) part awesome, dinosaur stuffed natural history museum, this is the most overwhelming museum I've been to so far in my quest to hit as many dinosaur museums in the American west as I can. The history of the state is packed with lots of displays besides just the ones I seek out; This is absolutely a world class museum, for the measly entrance fee of $8. Make sure ypu buy your tickets ahead of time, online. I didnt realize this, but they let me in anyway. I think they are called 'timed tickets' or something, there is not a word about this on Google maps, so now you know. It is spacious enough, with 4 floors and dozens of large exhibits on each floor, that you can easily avoid absolutely every single screaming kid and massive family group also roaming the exhibits. A detailed Charles Darwin section is the most complete one I've seen, covering his entire life, as well as his discoveries. The gift shop is full of interesting little trinkets for not very much money as well. All in all, a museum definitely worth the trip!

I only have good things to say about Lincoln Children's museum. It's three stories of fun, yep…read morethree levels for you and your kiddo to enjoy. The space it clean, there's so much to do. We could've stayed here all day! The employees are friendly. I love how the play structures are Nebraska themed. And I really loved how they play Disney music on the speakers! The only thing I would critique is the parking. The museum itself is close to UNL, the university campus. Making it hard to park. There is meter parking available however there's also a ton of construction, making it easy to get lost if it's your first time visiting. Other than that -- we had a fabulous experience. I think getting a membership is worth it.

Bryan Hospital and the Lincoln Fire Department sponsor a fire truck experience in minature and health care activities. There are legos, an airplane, construction equipment and even a wooden apple tree with "apples" that fall from the tree. The prairie dog town and animal identification stations are fun too. There's a cafe of sorts that was closed when we went. The only real downside I saw was it wasn't as clean as I would expect. For example, there were cookie leftovers in the fire truck. Since we got there right at 9:00 when they opened, it seems unlikely that this was new. Someone should do a complete walkthrough before they open to make sure it's clean.
