I was never aware this facility existed and my out-of-state friend that came with me was blown away by everything inside. The pure level of research, education, and presentation was impressive. Parking certainly was a time-consuming task for us as it was difficult to understand where to park for the museum. There was little to no signage except for "Faculty/Staff Only." After driving around for a while, we learned that the parking lot cut through around the construction and lead to the side street in front of the museum building.

From Model T cars to the latest show cars, from drag racers, Indy cars, off-road vehicles, Midget racers, and hot rods to pedal cars, Soap Box, BMX bikes and antique toys plus everything in between, this museum has it all. My wife and I were both blown away by the huge variety of autos and related artifacts. These photos are just a small sample size of the many items displayed.

This is a cute lil spot, they have a greatly informative room filled with so many different skates…read morethrough the ages (literally, they were invented in the 1760's!!)! Whether you are an enthusiast or not, you will find it fun to see the costumes, skates, videos, and other memorabilia of this fun sport! It's rather small, but free, so absolutely worth the stop! They do have a tiny and tight parking area, so it is not RV or oversized vehicle friendly.

It's a smaller museum but absolutely packed with the history of roller skating from the earliest skates of the 1800's to the modern skates of the roller skating resurgence! We learned about the evolution of roller skates, the fads of roller skating and the passion of those who compete on roller skates. Dancing, speed skating, sports and recreation, roller skates are a part of history and definitely here to stay! Visiting the museum is free so be sure to make a donation in the bin provided to keep this small bit of history open to the public!

However,…read moreexhibits relating to actual Nebraska history was lacking and I've been to other state history museums in other states that are better and more relevant to that state's history and the museum felt incomplete. Nebraska can do better than that by providing more exhibits relating to actual Nebraska history instead of just empty spaces not being used or simply an indoor playground for kids. At least the museum only took about an half hour to go through which makes this an option for people who are time-strapped.

I only have good things to say about Lincoln Children's museum. It's three stories of fun, yep…read morethree levels for you and your kiddo to enjoy. The space it clean, there's so much to do. We could've stayed here all day! The employees are friendly. I love how the play structures are Nebraska themed. And I really loved how they play Disney music on the speakers! The only thing I would critique is the parking. The museum itself is close to UNL, the university campus. Making it hard to park. There is meter parking available however there's also a ton of construction, making it easy to get lost if it's your first time visiting. Other than that -- we had a fabulous experience. I think getting a membership is worth it.

The Lincoln Children's Musuem is a great place for indoor play and exploring. Bryan Hospital and the Lincoln Fire Department sponsor a fire truck experience in minature and health care activities. There are legos, an airplane, construction equipment and even a wooden apple tree with "apples" that fall from the tree. The prairie dog town and animal identification stations are fun too. There's a cafe of sorts that was closed when we went. The only real downside I saw was it wasn't as clean as I would expect. For example, there were cookie leftovers in the fire truck. Since we got there right at 9:00 when they opened, it seems unlikely that this was new. Someone should do a complete walkthrough before they open to make sure it's clean.
